This song has such a happy vibe to it that it made an appearance in my dreams the other night. I grew up in the 60's and 70's during Sly's heyday, and I thought I had heard pretty much all his songs especially the ones from the 70's when I was a child. But I had NEVER heard this song. Perhaps because after the Fresh album, Sly started to fade from view a bit. So, if this song came out in 82, I can understand why it didn't get more notariety. It's got a feeling that harkens back to "Running Away", and all of us that were digging that back then have a taste that's just different from what most people wanted to hear back in the 80's. The 80's weren't ready for that sun-kissed, ice-cream sundae, happy-go-lucky vibe this song offers. As much as I LOVE this hypnotic song, it feels very much like an old friend who went to sleep for a couple of decades and came back, but is still in a bit of a time warp. For those like me, who lived the 60's and 70's, we like the time warp and enjoy hearing anything that brings back the sweet memories of two great eras. "Right on" Sly! ( I couldn't resist). I can't stop listening. This is how good music is supposed to make you feel.

@@Rockixe99 Greetings from the USA, the Bay Area to be more specific, where Sly heralds from. I'm very proud to be from the same place as my first musical idol. You are correct, music gets people together. It's the universal language!

that’s such a cool analogy and way of explaining it. whilst im not old enough to have ever got to hear Sly Stone and others in their heyday, i will forever be in that camp that holds that era in a special, incomparable regard. there was just a spark of something mystical and very special in music back then which we have long since lost. but then we are blessed now with the technology to have it all at our fingertips. peace and love wherever you’re at ✌️

I was a senior in high school when this song came out. I said "wow", Sly might have a minor hit after all these years. I was mistaken because the record label and radio didn't push it. Great song though, bass, horns, keyboards, vocals and background, fantastic!
@adoris864
@adoris864 5 лет назад
If this song came out in 82 you and I are the same age. I was a senior then too. Until two nights ago, I had NEVER heard this. I feel so ashamed, because I was a HUGE Sly & The Family Stone fan when I was growing up in the late 60's and early 70's. But after the Fresh album, it seems like the world stopped listening to Sly and he faded away. You have good taste in music. This song has such a happy, infectious vibe that it's ashamed it didn't catch fire back then. Perhaps if it had have, I wouldn't have gotten wind of it. But there's nothing like a pleasant surprise and a dose of the magic of the 60's and 70's. This song reminds me so much of "Runnin Away", which was also a great song in its day. Doesn't it just make you smile inside? This song feels like having one foot in the past and the other in the present. I can't stop listening!!

Sly's second (and last) album for Warners had the makings of a great work, but he supposedly quit working on it abruptly, so it had to be completed without his creative input. I was one of the few people who bought the LP and I liked a lot of the music on it, but it was released with little fanfare and died a quick death.
