SM artists are more likely to sing live than anyone else. They also say they use autotune to hit the high notes, but the video is showing examples of SM idols hitting their notes just fine outside the studio.

I'm gonna remind y'all that the first clip of ChenBaek, they did that when they were only rookies. Haters can cry all they want but it's true that SM idols' vocals are no joke. If there would be a battle for main vocals, they don't even have to send their main vocals to win. Their main rappers and main dancers can even sing better and hit high notes better than some of the main vocals in the industry.
Yes, SM vocalists are the best trained, however, that doesn't negate the fact that Aespa virtually always lip syncs. Aespa are talented singers, and also SM doesn't let them sing live. These two things can be true at once. OP's clip would only be a "gotcha" if it showed Aespa performing live, all they did was play clips that are 5-10 years old, back when SM allowed them to do more live singing.
It seems to be the favourite sport of some people to try to bring down SM artists because their favourite ones can't do what they do. Everybody and their grandmother's knows that SM is the company with the best vocalists. They train singing while running in treadmills. But, you know, some people can only bring others down to elevate those who they prefer.
Well, yeah but from what I’ve seen at least it’s more of a running joke (/lh) when people from sm lipsync, esp aespa. I personally haven’t encountered many people that say sm is bad bc they lipsync, they more so have thoughts about the very large amount of high notes etc in sm music which you ofc can argue showcases the musical skills of the group but yeah. The people who say sm vocalists aren’t talented are the same kinda people who bring every other company down though about the things they’re greatest at (for example hybe / jyp dance) so I wouldn’t advise you to keep taking note of that.

One reason why SM groups still get a win? Because people already know how good their vocals are. Aespa have been using pre-recorded vocals in music shows but in other events, they are singing live. The rest of the SM groups have been singing live since day 1, that's why they were labeled as a vocal powerhouse. There are also moments where SM vocalists sang the high note higher than the recorded one. The tweet seems to be from a new fan.

I don't know why some people just can't like their faves without hating. I'm a YG Stan (if it wasn't obvious by the name 🤣) but even I know SM artists have some of the sharpest, cleanest vocals. This is like a trademark. Especially the 2nd gen artists they produced
The thing is, SM doesn’t edit their voices too much in studio recordings that’s why they sound similar when singing live unlike other groups where their voices sounds so different in recordings.

I'm a YG stan but still I've to say SM artists are the best trained for vocals like their main rapper sings like a main vocalist and the sub vocalists of their group can be main vocalist of other company groups.
I think they are talking about the recent stages from SM artists where mostly is lip syncing (as if only SM idols do that) anyway i think it is just becoming a thing since fans always known SM to produce top tier vocalists and maybe they think that it is such a shame that they don't sing live anymore. Anyway there is a reasonable explanation for this like hectic schedules that may damage the idols vocals in return so they turn to lip syncing instead (especially on music shows that usually requires several takes per show) it is not bad but fans might want to hear live vocals and they are disappointed.

Fan needs to start treating their idol like human being for real. I grew up with second gen idol that sing live all the time but actually still enjoying the 3rd, and 4th gen performance. Personally lip sync in some program like music show is not a big deal, they can always sing live in other program like radio that not demanding some dance. Even after these idol sing live, they would get compared to other idols that better. It's just an ego really.

I was there for the first SMTown in Paris and the song they opened with was Sorry Sorry Answer sung live by Kyuhyun, Ryeowook and Yesung. And let me tell you. It was a religious experience. They hadn't used playback for any song performed during that concert. SM has amazing powerhouse vocals.
Honestly, there are only few non-SM artists that can compete against SM vocals. We exols acknowledge some artists and groups with really great vocalists. AND there are artists who's very known for using autotune and they're deafly praised by their massive fans lol they have no rights arguing with us
SMCU concert 2022 all of them sing live. Their voice is sooo good. Maybe non fans don't know that SM also SM idols are really PERFECTIONIST, DETAIL ORIENTED, AND TECHNIQUE ORIENTED.
EXO is a diamond not only of SM but of the entire K-POP industry. I sincerely apologize, but the visual effects of EXO are too powerful, as soon as they appear on the stage, they capture you with their dazzle, not letting you go until the very end. Even when not based off skill sm Stil has so much better charting and awards like every sm grp has all won a award not to include aespa literally being monsters when they go to award shows plus a PAK on almost all their cmb says alot
Ryeowook’s voice is so impressive like not even I can do that. Taeyeon is also a great singer and in my opinion I don’t really hear the autotune in SME songs to be honest.
Just listen how SM artists are ALWAYS and I repeat ALWAYS randomly harmonizing and singing live whenever they can in lives, radio shows when they're not even supposed to be singing. Those idols are more desperate to be able to sing than the fans to listen, because a lot of them, specially the main vocals trained for YEARS to sound this good and if you see a SM vocalist talking about singing you'll will feel the passion they have for their craft. I never forget NCT's Taeil talking how he left his chance to go study in his dream college because becoming an idol would give him the chance to sing as often as he could.
Do Kyungsoo is just incredible in every sense. He is one of the few vocalists who can make your heart flutter and cause a storm of emotions. He manages his deep voice and sweet timbre with such ease that the same part can sound completely different "starting very roughly and ending unrealistically gently". Kyungsoo's unique voice gives each song a unique charm. I'm ready to listen to his voice as much as I want.! Even when Kyungsoo just speaks, he wants to listen and listen to endlessly, such a pleasant voice.
nah , often when it came to best vocalist male idol , ussually at rank 1 is Junsu . He is originaly from SM and he trained for solo singer , but then he debuted as a group . and yeah if you get to see list of best vocalist , there will dominated by SM main vocal .

So people generally aren't able to hear kyuhyun's true singing skills except when he was in musical. Truth is objectively kyuhyun has the best singing technique among idols as proven with how kpop vocal analysis ranked him as number 1. Junsu however wasn't in the good or good to great category. He was below that. Another thing is kyuhyun also wanted to be a ballad singer and trained outside of sm for that after realizing his dream in high school but after he got into sm and trained for 2 months, they put him in suju because they needed more main vocalists. So in conclusion people usually pick junsu as number 1 because of the image he has in tvxq while people underestimate kyuhyun's skills because he's in suju and they haven't seen his full power at singing. Kyuhyun also prefers soft ballad so that makes people underestimate him more when in fact he has the widest range and best technique among idols.

I mean with most people's memory, when they remember tvxq they remembered their amazing songs and junsu will always be remembered as the vocalist of that group with the crazy difficult songs so people tend to think he must be the best among idols. Kyuhyun doesn't only sing sujus songs but to kpop stans they only ever see him sing those fun dance songs with suju. Not to mention gp was used to seeing suju as the funny group so their main vocalists' vocal skills got overshadowed by that so more people underestimate them (kyuhyun basically said the main vocalists didn't get the chance to show their skills everytime he got a chance to sing solo like in KOMS). Yes he sings other songs especially since he's also a ballad singer now but since his singing style makes everything looks effortless (no exaggerated expressions and strains) people like to think his songs are easy to sing and he's below those vocalists who sing in a band or fancy songs when his skills are above them. Meanwhile kyuhyun's full or at least 70% true power of his singing skills are mostly performed in musicals which are gatekept so tightly it's hard for other people to know exactly the extent of his expertise in singing. Yes he has also sung covers of amazing songs and musical numbers in public but his agency sucks at promoting him and kpop stans will always underestimate him or won't accept that he's the best because he's from suju.

As nctzens I know every moment when nct use pre-recorded songs for better performance. But every time they actually sing live without any pre-recorded vocal everyone (including some nctzens) can't really understand it. The power of their vocal is incredible. It is THAT good so it's hard to believe they doing it in live. This is the main reason why I stan sm artists. They sound better in live. I've tried to stan other companies' artists, but their autotuned vocals were the way better than their actual voices :( It is not like they are bad. Don't get me wrong. I still enjoy a lot of solo/groups in kpop. And there are a lot of good vocalists. But nct and all sm solo/groups vocals are on top.
As an nctzen, I can tell ya'll that stanning nct was the best decision everr. I'm obsessed with the fact that they have over 7 powerful vocalists (them being Taeil, Yuta, Kun, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun, sometimes even Jungwoo, Xiaojun, Renjun, Haechan, Chenle and occasionally Jisung gets some lines lol). The rest of them are either dancer types or rapper types which they also excel in. The dancers are also extremely great: Taeyong, Yuta, Ten, Jaehyun, Winwin, Jeno, Haechan, Renjun, Jaemin, Shotaro and Jisung. Their rap line is also no joke: Taeyong, Johnny, Lucas, Mark, Hendery, Jeno, Jaemin, Yangyang, Sungchan. Them all being vocal, dance and rap Gods isn't any surprise, they're from sm in the first place 😏 But to have this many guys in one group is incredible and I hope they don't lose their popularity, because they're amazing!

Jonghyun high notes was my favourites, especially in their concert. Shinee was the epitome of KPop boys group at the time. Their choreography and singing abilities would leave me in awe. ❤❤❤

Sm in recent years has been been having their artists lipsync for dance heavy songs i've seen but I assume on some level to protect the idols voice from getting damaged but also I've assumed to protect their image so mistakes dont get made on those dance songs Also everyone uses autotune these days but its supposed to support live vocals and they make it too strong thats not sm's fault actually thats the sound engineers fault for not balancing correctly or using a bad software

Baekhyun can belt out real fine raw vocals even in his hotel bedroom (there are several clips of it) and he is currently the soloist with the most amount of awards for a reason. as someone who sings for a hobby (and maybe professional someday), hitting a high note really isn't as easy as it seems. you have to have a really well trained voice to be able to produce a stable and good quality high note. Without prior practice or a natural talent, hitting solid high notes back to back (like in almost every SM song ever made) is nearly impossible.
TVXQ-Changmin Seriously, go watch 2018 MBC countdown stage performance. Dude was hitting high notes while walking down a couple of steps to the stage center.
