Same can be said for Meggy. According to the SMG4 wiki, she was supposed to be a one-time character, but a lot fans wanted her to appear more, so she later became a part of SMG4's gang.

Bob's character is extremely different compared to the character we have now in 12/15/2018. He just was a normal character that got bested up and then wanted to help Mario, then became a "jerk".
