My favorite detail was the mistakes and the copywriting, like conflating bits with megs, or acting like Nintendo of America hadn't finalized the names of the caps yet so they had to make them up on the fly
This implies that the visuals of Render96 are infinitely worse than the original N64 version. That’s certainly an opinion one can have, but I don’t think that’s what you meant.
Omg!!!! This is what Ive always wanted in a SM64 remake!!! Definitely gonna have to give this a go!!! The models are completely faithful to their N64 renders found in advertisements for the game, etc. Excellent work!
I thought I recognized ur name! Was it on Miiverse I last saw you? If so, nice to see ya again dude! Btw, this mod is SICK! Got it up and running last night. Cant wait to start playing it today!!
@@gruntingskunk2237 Its a Silicon Graphics machine. Silicon Graphics was the peak of graphical hardware at the time. Conecpt art and a lot of other material that were produced for Mario 64 used Silicon Graphics to make the renders are Next Gen as possible. Graphics like these were imposible for any home console at the time to render in real time. So these graphics would have been ground breaking and absolutely mind blowing back then.
Are you sure? Super Mario Sunshine is amazing but it doesn't look better than these graphics. I agree Nintendo make some weak remakes and only for portable consoles , including Super Mario Bros 3 where sprites weren't redrawn to be like box art, when Nintendo should have done something like Duck Tales 2D remakes.
BATTERY backup... Sorry to break the fun, but Mario 64 uses an EEPROM to save the game. The good news is, if you play on a real cartdrige, you don't need to worry about losing your saved games to a battery running out. But nevertheless, I love how you really made this trailer look "Old School", complete with the fuzzy video quality and the enthusiastic narration, as well as all the tech jargon. It's refreshing when a team so dedicated can also have a good sense of humor. Thumbs up!
@@shlomolawyerstein7094 you gotta be real dumb to think nintendo pays attention to journos before they shut things down as if youtube vids like this didn't had way more visits and views than those websites, idiot
I wish we could actually play this mod on real hardware because I swear to God this is how I imagined what the game looked like when I was a child. Kids shouldn't take their imaginations for granted.
Now THIS is what I'm talking about. My problem with the Galaxy and Odyssey model mods are that they are too high poly and detailed for such an old game that Mario's primitive animations look extra stiff. But this is honestly amazing, I've waited so long to see a version of Mario 64 that actually used the promo renders in game and this is exactly that! I'd love to see a mod for Mario Kart 64 that does this same thing, I know it's not likely to happen anytime soon because that game has little modding support, but hey great job!
Mario Kart 64 character models are basically only 1 polygon with a sprite on it so I don't know if that would be possible but they could upscale or remake the sprites possibly.
Holy crap that's rad dude! Could you imagine what Nintendo will do with the next Final Fantasy game on the 64?! It'll probably be tubular! I can't wait!
This looks amazing! Would it also be possible to make HQ versions of the enviroments, and also make them bigger? For instance, the bob omb battlefield, or Peach Castle's out and indoors
Now all we need is enhanced level models in the style of the CGI art. I've seen the Bowser arena on the Twitter, so I'm looking forward to this stuff. I figure one way of going about it without altering gameplay would be to have the models purely cosmetic and keep collision data the same.
I love everything about this upgraded model mod. _Except_ Dorrie, and bullies. Dorrie wasnt in this trailer, but she looks _like ass,_ her mouth is only on the bottom jaw? Bullies also just look bad. The eyes were done terribily. Otherwise, the mod looks beautiful, i just hope those models get updated. Especially bullies. One of my favorite mario enemies, hate seeing them get shafted like that, especially since _they are so damn simple._
