i love how calming and minimalistic but also cozy your place is. but i definitely feel like the rent is insane :o in toronto we can get places like that for $1800 now! i thought the pandemic would reduce prices in vancouver too
@@angietralo693 okay so i just checked and it looks like the prices have gone up the last few months but 2-3 months ago when melissa moved into her new place i found several places just like that near the Eaton Centre for like $1850-1900! i went to a few tours but ended up going for a 1+1 because i need the space.
I want to move to Toronto from Vancouver but the main thing stopping me is all my family and friends are here. It's hard to move to a city alone and just not see my family much anymore.
@@littleripper312 I want to do that too! Thankfully I don't have a ton of people in Toronto stopping me from doing so haha. Didn't exactly make a ton of friends going to U of T..
one reason is because vancouver is so small, it's the size of a downtown, Toronto is 5x times bigger area wise because vancouver unlike many cities never absorbed it's surrounding areas
I'm in the states so I had no idea Vancouver was so expensive?! I could rent two 3-4 bed, 2+ bath houses with attached 2 stall garages and fenced yards for 2600. I don't even make that much a month... 😅 I'm definitely more appreciative now! But your apartment is absolutely beautiful. I think the decor definitely helps brighten it up, making it feel a little bigger. I love it!
Woah! $2600 a month?! I live in a town in Scotland and have a fairly large one bed, two bathrooms (no terrace) for the equivalent of $690 a month. It's a beautiful apartment you have but that is crazy! What you pay for your apartment is what I earn in a month 😂
My daughter lives in outer suburb of Sydney and the average rent for a house is $750 a week. My daughter in law lives in a small house in Toronto NSW Australia that can't even fit a table and chairs and pays $550 a week. Both are single mums with two children, the rents and house prices are sky high.
the sticker shock in these comments at rent price is too funny.. to be fair that is on the higher side because it's a brand new building and its GORGEOUS
Your styling is lovely, Melissa. Love Vancouver. Hubby and I visited your city in 2019. The harbour is a stunner. And we fell in love with Stanley Park. We intend to discover more of Camada when we get the chance again. BC is a favourite though. So much more to see. 🐨💌🇨🇦
The place is really clean, cute and cozy! It looks great! 😃 I can relate to the outrageous rent prices since I'm down in Seattle. Same situation. But the prices are high because we live in desirable areas! Yay for that
I've been waiting for this video since u moved in! I really love that table.. matches so well with everything in your kitchen.. ur space looks way bigger than 560 sq ft especially with the outdoor space! Love how u decorated. I remember looking for apts in Seattle a few years back and the spaces were shoe boxes 🤑 for so much! Not surprisingly BC is the same way..
In USD that’s a little over $2000 a month still🤯 I live in a city in Texas the same size as Vancouver , in a larger apartment and I only pay $1185 a month. Those rent prices are ridiculous🥴
Wow I love your place and how you decorated it....you made it look much more spacious. That does seem a bit high for a 1 bed, 1 bath condo....in Toronto I think some places you can get a 2 bedroom for that ....but then again there are super nice 1 bedrooms for that price too. Tika is too cute!! Hope you're able to find your dream place soon!!
That’s what I was thinking! We bought a 2500 sq ft house (Northern NY, in Quebec border) in January and we pay $1100 a month as well. 🙈 such a cute practical place but thinking just greedy for what they’re charging for that apartment
Very clean and well organized home, thank you for sharing this with us. You mentioned you moved a couple times, please share the details of your movers if you used any particular service and liked them.
I'm wanting to move downtown despite the prices just because it's so nice. The rent is making me want to go to Toronto but I don't want to move away from my family and friends to a city alone. I sometimes feel like it's a waste of money because I could put that money into buying a house or retirement but views from a west end apartment or even false creek are so amazing that I'm not sure life could be better. I've moved around a bit but I think I might bite the bullet and move downtown and pay the extra amount for rent.
😱 I have a 3,000(5,000 including basement) with mortgage pmt that is less than your rent. We are in a really great area too with great schools. Not judging, just thinking its just crazy how things work. So happy for you and i love your channel.
It’s so beautiful and you did a really great job for such a small place! But Omg i am getting claustrophobia watching this. It’s so small! The patio adds to it though thankfully
I love your apartment and the view is awesome ! Where I live in Key West your apartment is a bargain- you would never get a 1 bedroom ocean view for the price you are paying and parking is impossible to get here. However we pay to live in paradise and Vancouver is a beautiful place to live . Thank you for sharing and I love your style as I own Article furniture too!❤️😊
Everything looks very fine and balanced. A quite pleasant aesthetic atmosphere. I love the sofa-rug-coffee table combination you chose, especially because I love marble surfaces and finishes. I have an Arco lamp from Barcelona Designs and I freaked out from the first moment I saw it because of its Carrara marble base. I have to get a similar rug for my new sofa. Congratulations and thanks for the tour! :)
My sons live in East Van and my brother lives in Kits. I moved to Houston (husbands job) and we bought a 3500 sq ft house with a pool for $265,000. My parents 2400 sq ft house in Coquitlam just sold 4 years ago for 1.6 million. I miss Vancouver though. Would move back in a second.
OMG- for one bedroom - I have a 3 bedroom 2 bath - A lil east of Toronto for a few hundred less than what you paying. That is insane. Vancouver is always expensive anyway. 🤷🏽♀️😌
i love your Vancouver apartment!! literally my dream place ☺️ i have been following you when you lived in Toronto, i am also a new content creator from Toronto 💗💗
Wow that’s expensive! But it’s so cute!!! We are renting a town home that 2100 sq feet and $2200 a month with three enormous bedrooms, three full baths, two large pantries , three walk-in closets and a total of seven closets in the whole house that are very large we have a pond in the back and some cute ducks and everything is included … they were built 4 years ago …we live in Michigan I have a berkey water 💦 filter as well!! The best !
I feel your pain!! I have a similar apartment in Vancouver… at the very least they could include some utilities in the rent 😩 the parking and water bill adds so much on top of rent 😭 I love how you’ve worked with the space tho, it’s beautiful!
Dang I thought our rent was expensive we have a 1 bd 1 bth 700 sq ft for $1020 all bills paid except electricity & it came with microwave washer, dryer & fridge in Nebraska
It’s a pretty little apartment!:).. How- ever that is insanely expensive to pay.. for rent with 9/ Utilities!..😱.. You can get a Mortgage in Alberta for double the size Condo apartment for 1000.00 or a little less then that. I’m happy you won, t be there too long.!!.. All the best🙏👍
oh my i am still in that 2k rent era in my mind... no wonder why one bed apartment is so hot in the market now... might well own one paying the same as or less as the rent
Cute space, but your landlord ripped you off :( My girlfriend lived in a 2-level open concept in Yaletown for $2,100. I had a similar size apartment in the West End, just on English Bay for $1,550...
Hi, do you mind sharing what building in Yaletown or the West End? I'm currently hunting for a "good enough for the money" condo in one of those areas😩
Me in West London not even blinking at 2600 CAD. That’s about 1500 British Pounds. Would be lucky to find a half decent one bedroom UNFURNISHED in Greater London (Zone 3/4) for that loll let alone central London. That wouldn’t even get you a studio. No wonder everyone is house sharing. Ffs cities are so expensive🥲🥺
Oh my gosh do you live in Vancouver I live in Prince George oh my gosh I can’t believe we both live in British Columbia I’ve never watched a RU-vid video that has the same province as me
