Watched some of this but of course I understand very little having no medical knowledge! However, I am in awe of the massive amount of material there is to learn and retain and which needs to be recalled in an instant when necessary. And you are only talking about one part of the body here! And then there are all the long complicated words! Just amazing!
Thanks so much for the feedback Nora! As we get further into any field, say classical music, the lingo gets more an more specific. Ostinato for instance 😊 had to look that one up!
Dr. Pearson, Stumbled across your videos while studying my GI exam for NNP school. I used to work with you in the CHOA NICU so it was so fun to find these! I found this video and the malrotation video extremely helpful! Thanks again for sharing your wealth of knowledge and hope you are doing well!!
Thank you for Dr. Pearson for this video! I was just reading SBO on Current and had to look up imaging on youtube. I’m preparing for my observership but yet to find a doctor that could help me.
Amazing video Dr. Erik Thanks alot for your effort I’d like to add radiological findings to supine abdomen radiography It will give us valuable information regarding the level of small bowel obstruction by identification of dilated jejunum ( plicae circularis) in high small b. Obst. Or dilated ileum ( featureless bowel) and jejunum in low small bowel obstruction Or even dilated colon in large bowel obstruction
Dr. Pearson, my doctor also made surgery but still, I am facing pain.I am facing Small bowl obstruction pain after 2-3 months. SBO is swelling, should i go for another surgery?. it is recovering after 2-3 days of IV fluids doses. but how to solve it permanently. my doctor not suggesting me for CT Scan. They do only ultrasound research sonography. Should i have to go with a CT scan of abdomen? Pls share more videos for SBO.(like Diet,SBO Cause, risk) Thanks for Video, very nice and helpful information.
I have a question my husband 80 is in a nursing home many things wrong but recently he has paralysis ileus left side he is vomiting and has stomach pain he is treated with a medicine? for it there is little hope with so many others problem heart osteomyelitis spinal cord damage kidney has tube etc. I know he is suffering but no one tells me how long will he suffer before it’s over I worry all the time
I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this with your husband, the only advice I can give and I do give my own patients is to write down all of your questions on a notepad, ask the nurses who is directing the care, and ask them all of your questions. May the days ahead bring comfort and answers to you both.
While I can’t give medical advice on this platform and I would recommend you see your family doc one common “home remedy” is to stay hydrated…dehydration is a common cause of constipation. Here is a simple article on hydration and includes a water intake calculator… www.everydayhealth.com/dehydration/hydration-calculator/
