Things I hate about The Sims 4! These are small Sims 4 gameplay features that annoy me. *im not wearing lipstick my lips just naturally look like this. Socials - linktr.ee/SatchOnStuff BUSINESS CONTACT ONLY: satchonsims@gmail.com
Yes ! I was preparing to type something similar then I saw Your comment. I appreciate Satch's accurate criticisms of this Costly game (packity packpack , but frosty Still can't really Go anywhere... because the lots are just set dressing) . ---Knock Knock... Who's there ? NOT a Single Spiral Staircase or Home Elevator . That's Certainly NOT Who. ;-p
After I bought Cottage Living I had a sims couple move in a cute pre-made house. I couldn't understand why they wasn't using half of the house! I finally put the walls up and could see that there wasn't any doors for them to access that HALF of it! I quickly added two archways but how does the person who built it forget to add doors themselves?!?
There's something that really drives me insane. They updated the Caliente household and didn't change their relationships, like HOW DUMB CAN THEY BE?! Didn't they see that we've complained over YEARS for that?! I'm tired of pretending there's some lore going on, and the worst part is, they've already updated them, they won't do it again, so we have to say thank you for a cosmetic makeover. And now they're teasing a Landgraab makeover, I'm soooo sure they'll forget about Johnny🤬
I feel like this is just one good example of how lazily they do their updates. They always tease us and act like they're doing something amazing and they're spoiling us with updates. Then it's like this. One cosmetic household update per year without even updating relationships to match the lore. Rounded walls that are still almost unusable. Infants that are super buggy and joke on us, almost all the items are behind paywall. Strair railings update which they did resently which removes railings arbitrarily. The list is endless. So lazy. They could so easily do these things right, use simmers who have already fixed base game families/houses and would love to help, but no, they don't want to do even these basic cosmetic updates right.
Social bunny is a perfect example of a “we will be improving it but for now there are a few basic responses and messages you can send and receive” blah blah blah. Social Bunny is INSUFFERABLE for me
i wish it was even a bit consistent, for example it gives us options for posts based on the recent activities our sim did - and yet sometimes our sim is just randomly posting without our prompting (not even linked to the phone animation they do sometimes) and its all stuff they didnt do at all!!! the pillow fight posts are ESPECIALLY egregious; also the fact that while we cant open the app when our sim is sleeping, somehow the auto posting is still going on...
9:27 The answer is they don't want to have to animate a sim opening and closing a lid on a bin, or stepping on a pedal to open and close the lid. It's too complicated for the people with millions (billions) of dollars available to figure out. The weird bin that zaps plates can get away with a lid and no animation since it's an unrealistic fantasy item in the game.
@@wiktoriajurkiewicz3144yeah but the people working on those games are long gone now, and EA is trying to always maximise profits, that means throwing quality out the window and charging maximum price to customers who'll buy this trash anyway.
@@wiktoriajurkiewicz3144Sims 4 has outside bins with lids as well, those were internal bins he was showing. Most of the internal ones don’t have lids but there are a few that do. Honestly, I don’t remember indoor trash cans with lids in Sims 2. Most of them were top open as well.
I honestly love Neighbourhood Stories. Not because it's good but because it makes the game so chaotic. Like why do sims marry the most random sims? Why does the headmaster from Highschool Years always have like 7 kids before dying and leaving the older kids to raise them? Why do the Goths now always get a horse? It makes no sense but the chaos is hilarious
Why did Bob and Eliza Pancakes adopt a toddler into their already falling marriage? Why did I befriend said toddler while regularly hooking up with Bob? Why did I download the extreme violence mod after Eliza found out? Who knows!
@@MoldyRainbowButterdo the neighborhood stories actually happen in their respective households or is it like the descriptions who when you go in the household have absolutely no relationship or nothing?🤣
I feel like it’s not enough though. I want to know what cause them to move out. Plus when I download life tragedy there was no news report about it. Plus there was no option to contact the cops or any files or a serial killer
What I don't understand is after 10 years, the sims still don't use their closest sinks to wash their hands! And they still use the shelves only to hide dirty dishes!! 😮💨😂
I hate the loading screen, loathe it...I stopped going to other lots as much to just avoid the load screen. I love the chaos of neighborhood stories, random townies adopting loads of pets and kids! I truly wish they would give us better organization for build/buy...it is a nightmare to navigate.
The hiding items behind swatches is incredibly annoying. I always find something cool i could’ve used in an earlier build because I didn’t know it was the 5th swatch of a completely unrelated item
not to mention the search doesnt bother to look past i think the first two words of all items - looking for the flower arranging table is a nightmare because even tho the table literally includes the phrase in its name, it starts from like the third word so it doesnt pop up immediately in suggestions lol
How hard can it be to do a sdx drop to change the missing doors or toilets. Obvious that they don't care or are allowed to take pride in what they built.
@@akapotatis9445 I don't think you need to be a crazily experienced software developer in order to add a few missing doors on the buildings, add more complete descriptions on how features work or change up what chategory some items belong in.
@@akapotatis9445I work on software development. Adding a toilet to a house takes literally nothing. And let’s not pretend they have extensive QA for the game when everything is released broken.
There are two neighborhood stories. Played households and unplayed households (if you click the unplayed tab when you go to manage households, you’ll see neighborhood stories aren’t global they have played/unplayed household settings separate -- thank god, cause I rotate a few families in the same save and I don’t want my families touched by neighborhood stories, but the rest can be). The settings in gameplay settings is the unplayed family settings. You can toggle it off/on from either there or manage households. So you can have neighborhood stories on for unplayed households and off for played households or the reverse…..or have them on for both. So that your unplayed sims go on having babies and getting/quitting jobs or whatever, but the character(s) and families you control won’t be like reproducing or quiting jobs when you are not playing them. Having unplayed families and played families settings different is really useful for playing multiple families in the same save file. Though it could do with better tuning, I don’t hate it. Keeps the world going without me playing everyone, but still able to protect more than one family from neighborhood story nonsense.
0:43 I may have to check this to confirm but I believe it's for you to customise if you would like your played households to be affected by the system or not. So they added the option so you don't have to turn them off one by one. But it should still work for unplayed households
The neighborhood stories gives the option to enable/disable for your saved households and also for other households ... that way if you add a sim specifically to be, for example, a romantic interest they won't go off and get married to some random townie and interfere with the intentional story you're creating ... but the stories for townies/random npc's can proceed without having to go adjust the settings for each of the individual households that you want to include/exclude.
7:25 it just proves that they have different teams doing stuff and they do not communicate with each other. So one decided that candles are lamps, the other thought it would be misc.
Keep it up, Satch! You’re awesome! Somebody has to say “the Emporer has no clothes” and not care what EA or anyone else thinks. It’s called Free Speech, and expressing an opinion on a product you paid a lot of money for! (And you do it in a hilarious way that’s fun to watch!!!) Yes, the randomness of finding objects is very annoying…I never thought about the ‘bins’ aka trash cans, not having lids. Especially when Pets (or Cats and Dogs, whatever) came out…I mean, all of ours have lids because dogs love to dig in there and pull out things that will either kill them or cause a total mess all over the house (we had a dog once who was obsessed with Kleenex, napkins and paper towels…and he was smart enough to figure out how to get the bin open…and spread a thousand little shreds of the above all throughout the house…sigh. Yes, we checked with the vet, health fine, normal quirky dog stuff…we used to say he needed extra fiber in his diet.) Anyway, love what you do, if people don’t speak up, nothing will ever change, and you’re humorous and fun, not a whiner…you keep doing you!!!
Biggest pet peeve for me: elevators are just portals. Like cmon, you’re a AAA studio, you can spend the money to do elevator animations (ahem like previous games had).
So for the first one the reason its not enabled there is bc its YOUR households youre looking at, other households have the stories on when enabled and you can still customize them too
I think the discussion should be things we hate about EA. They are so greedy that they won't put any of the Sims 4 profits back into the Sims 4 to fix these issues. I'm sure if the Sims team were given a budget that would allow them to hire more staff they would. I think we let EA get away with too much. I don't hate the Sims 4, I hate what EA has done to it.
Neighbourhood stories... I disable all adoptions and moving out. With no adoption, I get a LOT less families of 8 in a house with only one single bed. With no moving out, I avoid those empty houses stripped from their furniture. That Get Famous «rug» and it's unrelated swatches is used in the studio for the Actor career. They are used to decorate the stage. Often, a smaller plain window will cost more, probably a lot more, than a huge stained glass window. Same for the doors. And, what about the wall papers...
Oh the items not being sorted correctly grinds my gears, I spent like 7 mins looking for a kids nightlight in the kids section and even searched it on the search bar and it came up with nothing, cause my game has been broken for like 2 years
This is why I hardly decorate the houses I can never find what I am looking for. I always keep walls down and I just put a few mirrors on the walls. I rarely use paintings or posters. The horse items are in the Outside category and not in the Pets category which is frustrating.
I was playing sims 4 today, and I know what's one insufferable thing. The WEATHER. I set the seasons to last 14 days, and I kid not, it RAINED and THUNDERED the ENITRE SUMMER. Absolutely hate Seasons dlc sometimes, idk why people rank it so high up on their favs.
i think the behaviour of the season relies a lot on the world youre living in - iirc del sol valley never gets snow, oasis springs gets spicy hot in summers, and that one world which came with outdoor retreat is pretty rainy during its summers
i think it depends which world you're living in the sims 4 Oasis Springs for examble never have snow, Mt Komorebi have colder climate while Sulani have warmer climate Brindleton Bay have rainy climate most of the times so i think it depends with each worlds kinda like what Ladyarmourlapras said
And you are right, items need to be organized by item type as well as pack, look at debug for example, all the fishing posts and landscaping are scattered everywhere. It takes you forever to find anything, unless you know the name of the item--and until Twistedmexi, finding the names of the items was often impossible. Thank God for modders.
THANK YOU about the bins! Most Aussie don't have bins out in the kitchen, because you know it's hot and smells. Other sims games have had an in counter bin so why not 4!
I 100% can never find the washer and dryer. It's not under any of the appliance categories, it's not in the bathroom category, I have zero clue what category it's under. I have to search for it every time.
I had NO idea the stupid stories thing was what was to blame for EVERY townie family in my world adopting toddlers and like 3 pets. I figured it was some side effect of MCCC or something. It's so weird and annoying
Omg...i had no clue what that clothes rack from the HS pack was! This whole time i thought it was a weird shelf. I always tried using those hanging clothes but the game never let me. Now i know!
There are a lot of rugs and paintings that I never use because the good swatches are hidden behind the first swatch. Like, if I don't like what I see on the thumbnail, I'm not gonna even try the other swatches.
People always talk about Get famous mansions and Realm of magic ugly house, but I recently got Jungle Adventure and the museum in Selvadorada is the most wasted potential of a lot ever. The bulding is ugly and cramped. The lot is 64x64 but the building would fit in a lot half of this.
i feel like sometimes they put landmarks (like the high school in hsy as well) on the biggest size possible just so that someone who wants to rebuild it can do so with the biggest space available
0:42 I think that happens because the option from the Game's Menu is for the non-controlled households, for example, if you turn off the neighborhood stories option from the Game's Menu and check at the Other Households option in Manage Household menu, you would see the Neighborhood stories are dessabled, but if you turn on the option of the Game's Menu, you would see that Neighborhood Stories are abled for the "Other Households". I hope the reader understands what I write, I'm not a native English-speaker😅 And yes, Neighborhood Stories are a completely NIGHTMARE
The buying of clothes, I feel like they could have done so much more with the mosquito pack if they had integrated that like you said. Make a Model career and depending on your wardrobe it can affect your fame levels and you have to purchase them. Maybe that would have saved that pack from so much ridicule.
I like neighborhood stories but there are definitely ones I like to turn off. The moving for example. I like certain townies to stay in their homes. The goths for example.
Ye the items be hidden behind swatches is so annoying i discovered that awhile ago too. I probably miss so much cause im not checking every swatch item. And im assuming its the same
They need to have someone look at those items when they create them and pick something that simmers may actually use as top swatch. I miss using a bunch of great rugs because the choice they selected is so out there. If you think -hey i want to use the egg rug... where is that now?
You forgot to mention that nearly all shelfes have something in it. So you really like the style of that one shelf but you can not use it in the kitchen cause there are diapers in it for example. I hate it!
To be fair in sims 3 you can go back into CAS to change outfits with a huge free wardrobe just like the sims 4. And I actually like it 🤷♀️ I love CAS and I go into it a lot to dress up my sims
omg the neighborhood stories made my game lag so bad then i went to check the family bin thing and all of then had like horses and pets and random children yh no effin wonder… disabled them and had to go and delete like 1000 horses. now my games back to normal 😭😭😭
The Del Sol Valley driveway not connecting to a road or even a flat area makes me REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. It's at the green/blue hair sim house.
10:05 this is a problem I've been working to solve with my recolor project I've undertaken. Everything I touch is significantly cheaper (but not so cheap as to be pointless). For eg I redid the Growing Together "Lifes a Ball" speaker into an Apple HomePod ripoff, and the HomePod Mini (What I can only assume EA ripped off in the first place) is $99, not the $400 they had it listed at. EA is so damn weird. I look forward to redoing the base game bog roll holder - now in 7,500 new colors, just 5 simoleons per :P
The Sims 4 seems to be made by a group of people who don't speak to each other and on the last day of the project they put together everything they did separately. There is no consistency or cohesion between each feature that is added to the game.
Remember when they released that Venice-inspired Community Lot for The Sims 3 Store, and how it was absolutely mind-blowing because back then, they had passion? Or that Community Lot with the rollercoaster for Roaring Heights, in The Sims 3? They went from that, to releasing homes with staircases that lead to nowhere.
It bothers me that they essentially made the hanging clothes a 2 part interchangeable system w the clothes separate but we can't do that for things like beds and linens?? 🤔
I love neighborhood stories in one save I found out that Lily Zhu the werewolf has adopted a few Landgraab children. When I play I want a mod and can see the townie's family tree instead of finding their household and loading in to see how far the family tree has expanded.
We lost the lid to our trash can so we do have an open bin in the kitchen and bathroom lol. We just don't put stinky stuff in it until it's the morning we're taking the bag out to the curb to be collected lol.
I always forgot the neighborhood stories, I mean I thought it was cool and it still is. It's just the way it's implemented is awkward. If it would have been built more like the Sims 2 or the Sims 3 world, both of those start your save from where the town/ neighborhood begins. In fact, even the Sims 1 begins in the neighborhood. Instead, you always have to start a household to start a world. So the neighborhood stories would have made more sense if it started where the new save starts. Personally, I think the new start should always be where you can pick a world. Then you could just add an icon for create a sims on the same screen where you pick a world. Bc when think about it you have to load the game, then load a new save, in create a sim, then load again to get to the select a world screen, then load again to the world, the pick a house and then another loading screen wow I'm exhausted just typing how many steps that took.
i lobe Neighbourhood Stories. recently in my save five people (including Bob Pancakes and Judith Ward) died on the same day, all from chickens or rabbits
I 😅 do not have a lid on my bin in my kitchen. My teens like to shoot thing across the room into them and we all cheer or boo accordingly, and then I yell at them if it’s hits the wall and makes a mess 😂. I understand the stink thing but really with so many people in my house it fills up and goes out before anything has a real chance to smell raunchy.
What's the point of having an indoor bin if they can only put one thing into it before having to take it to the outside bin anyways? Then you have randoms coming over and kicking the outside bin over. I can't be bothered. Bring me the zapper!!
Honestly, the only thing I thought TS4 did better than previous entries was Create a Sim. I don't particularly like the cartoony style, but click and pull is a nice feature. Most of TS4 seems like EA didn't really care enough to allocate the necessary time and resources to make it complete, let alone good.
About the economy. This is a problem that many games have. Either they are far too forgiving, or everything is far too expensive. The latter is mostly true for games with a lot of microtransactions.
The neighborhood stories discrepancy is because the settings in game settings turns on/off for INACTIVE/unplayed households. The settings in manage households are for your played households.
I think game settings can turn it off entirely, actually. Then you also have settings for played and unplayed, and then settings again on each and every household.
@@bookcat123In Game settings it only seems to be triggering your played households not the unplayed ones. I always turn on/off neighborhood stories from the manage households because the game settings are actually pretty unreliable.
Neighbourhood stories are broken for me. I've made a (terrible lol) story about a vampire having 30 children with a lot of differents townies. I wanted the 30 children having children on their own with a partner, to see the genealogic tree growing up. But instead, NONE of them got married or moved with their partner, they only had adopted children. It really was a waste of time aha... i delete that files bc of frustration lmao
stories need at least some triggers, for example a sim with a bf/gf can call you to ask if they should accept a proposal, also consequently they need to be fully fledged married in order to call you to ask if they should try for baby (regardless of same sex or different sex partnership). i think this holds true in general for stories even if your currently played sim isnt familiar with all of them
@@ladyarmourlapras Babies/adopting is absolutely included in neighborhood stories. Marriage & moving in together isn’t. And I thought that “found a ring” call came with a particular pack - it’s supposed to be base game? I’ve never had that happen. When I see people get it in let’s plays, it seems to just set the relationship to engaged and not progress to married….
I think birth and adoption are triggered at least somewhat to balance out the population. One of my played sim households had twins and another had a single kid and I notice more townie babies as well scrolling through my unplayed households. And I have pretty stringent neighborhood story settings. Assuming everyone grows up mormal pace, it seems to be making sure other same-age sims are around so if you have no married families, the game will likely trigger adoption. Don’t know what if any logic is applied to pet adoptions. I usually grab a few married couples from the gallery and pop them into households thrn mark them as unplayed so the game can take it from there.
If you’re not on console, MCCC does so much of a better job at this than neighborhood stories. It’s too bad EA doesn’t just make those tools part of the base game, but they are so paranoid it will give players enough options to skip a pack they can’t do it
I know they put lots of restrictions on builds because of performance. 1. the game runs bad no mater what because the code is spaghetti. 2. does a significant portion of people giving them money on packs and stuff really play on a potato from 2005??? like give these base game houses an update.
I cant remember what its called but the wants panel 99% of the time just being wanting to listen to music. Like my fitness obsessed entrepreneurial sim needs to listen to lullabies or island music or she is gonna raaagggeee😅😅😅
i found neighbourhood chaotic yet hilarious at the same time so i quite love neighbourhood stories for that reason😂😂 i agree with the bills and the clothes part though
i have 2 other things on my mind which isn't mentioned the teenager age and infants EA made them so dirty (teens because they looks like adult and the exact same clothes and infants because it have some kind of errors when using them)
unpopular opinion: sims 4 build mode is not the best and very much not new user friendly, especially when coming from older sims games. also none of the furniture looks good
