What I took from this video: 1. Script (outlines) 2. Simple Solutions for common problems 3. 8 second Hook, relatability. 4. Start to build trust with audience. 5. Consistency and authenticity with your own voice. 6. Finish with a call to action! Thanks again for these quick tips on our RU-vid journey!
My biggest piece of advice is DON'T get caught up with making "shorts" at the expense of publishing long form videos if you are nearing 4,000 hours. Every day you view hours from 1 year ago drop off. If you don't have new videos out there being viewed your hours will start backsliding. If I stayed on the same long form pace I was at in 2022 I would have hit my 4,000 hours a month or so ago. But I've lost several hundred hours now, and more are dropping off. I need to focus on long form for a bit as I am also nearing 1,000 subs and want to already have the 4,000 hours when I do.
Does this mean, you need to focus on one over the other? I’m actually torn on which one.. short-form or long-form videos. With what is beneficial for the creator in the long run.
I'm currently at 2,800 hours, I should there in like 60 days at my current rate (around 20 hours / day) Thank you guys for the help, couldn't have done it without you!
I'm not close to 4000 hours, but thank you so much for your tips.I am getting closer to 1000 subscribers thanks to your previous advices and tips. Now, I feel more confident and motivated.
It sure is a grind, it’s also a hardcore smack down on small channels, with an algorithm that feels like a fierce villain like Tong Po (that 80s Kickboxer movie), but eventually we will beat it 👍
I just wanted to thank you for your free tutorials. I watched one of your monetization videos and one tip it said was to livestream. So I went live and now I'm getting daily watch hours. I may not be monitized in 2023 but ive made so much progress from your videos. Thank You Vidiq
I seem to have had no problem getting the hours, it's the 1000 subs that killing me. Currently, I have over 8,000 hours but less than 300 subs; I don't understand how that is possible.
When I was making videos I found writing worked well for me for two reasons. First, it gives you breathing room to consider the points you want to make, evolve them with some deep thought, and pick precisely the right words. It eliminates the 'wish I said that' feeling. And second, sometimes just writing down a single sentence bootstraps thought on the subject and what was just an idea turns into a full video over time. I'd encourage anyone who thinks scripting might work for them to give just 15-30 minutes a night dedicated to writing. You'll quickly see the doors it opens for your content. And the best part is that in writing it out you almost memorize it. so when it comes time to record it comes off as a bit more natural than reading a script and the confidence it breeds will make you feel more comfortable doing ad-hoc stuff where you can convey more of your personality. Two things to consider. Writing can, potentially, make your content too esoteric. So think deep on the subject, but don't over complicate the message. I think it was Jonny Ives who said "you have to go deep to get simple". Don't make it fancy with big words, rather use your deep understanding of the topic to convey things in a simple manner anyone can understand. And two, I often waited until the end to make thumbnails because what started as just a video title is totally flipped on its head by the time you're done writing. Good luck everyone!
I actually never subscribed to channels even when I gained from the content, just never thought it was important until I started my channel and realized how difficult it is to grow out here and what the stakes are so now once I get value from anyone's content I subscribe, like and comment just to encourage the creator especially small creators. Amazing how it boosts our morales and pretty much encourages us to keep going.
Hey! I’m guessing you have explained this in the past, although I would love to have a video talking about what RU-vid really does while monitoring your channel. Talking about all the things they do to review it and how they communicate to you how it really works. Appreciate the amazing content! THANKS!!!!
4000 hours is not impossible but it is hardwork just gotta be dedicated we reached our hours in under a year and it was a great feeling and yes all hours were legit and organic we built a loyal support base and we are so thankful great tips good luck guys 💪🏼💪🏼🙏🙏
Whoever is reading DONT give up on your channel. Think about all the hard work that you have already put in. Every youtuber was once in your spot they just kept going. Stay consistent and you will reach your goals. consistent uploads and improvement and some determination is all you need! I am going for 650 subs by the end of April!!!
I am kind of the opposite to this example. I have gone from 600 subs to 7.5k in the last couple of weeks using some of your tips. I am only posting in short format currently (around 10 second videos). I intend to post more in long format once I hit around 20-50k subs. It will be a different spin on the same content I currently push out for laughs. For me it is the 4k hours that is harder to get, but I have confidence I can get there - following mentors like Jack Vale etc
Hi sir..!! What is mean by channel average.. My channel average day by day get reduce now its show 97.4 percentage. Could you explain why we take most important thing in channel average must.??
As a maker I’m finding that whatever I’m making writes the script. As a dyslexic I could not think of anything worse than writing a script. I am using bullet points so that I cover key points. But I definitely need to work on the hook.
One thing for sure, the algorithm is forcing us to step up our game! 😄 The harder it is, the more satisfying the results. Thanks for the info, Great advice as always!
I recently just went over 1,000 subs with 500 watch hours left to achieve and alot of thanks to the Vidiq channel as I constantly implement all they teach.. Thank you for being here for us 🙌🙌
I have been watching you guys since I started my channel, which is 13 months ago, I'm currently on 3800 watchhours, and I even switched niche and deleted all my videos June last year! It's possible to get there, and I'm most likely there within a week or so now! Keep up the good work vidIQ and thanks for all the helpful videos you make! ♥
Thanks for these tips! I just reached 4000 hours after a little over two months but I happened to get lucky with one of my videos getting picked up by the algorithm. The next challenge is continuing to grow and entertain viewers so your helpful advice is very much appreciated.
I had 8k hours with about 360-400 subs. I was having trouble translating the viewer into a subscriber. So I stopped making videos for a little while to take a breather from frustration. Now i'm fighting against the 360 day loss of hours verse what I gain on what i'm posting now. I'm back down below 3k hours, I have changed the structure of my videos to try and reflect this method and it seems to be doing better!
@@beatboxchannel2006 Right? I did some gaming vids that are basically tutorials, which garner views, but people tend to click on the vid, find what they need and leave. Those particular videos got picked up really well in the algorithm, not great, but steady.
In the end it really all boils down to view habits. No matter how badly you wish to keep your stuff original and uniquely yours, there's always this BTS stuff you have to at least acknowledge and implement into it because of all the people who were here before you made a trend out of it that viewers got used to and expect.
I reached 1000 subs today but need 1100 hours to reach 4,000. I did that in 2 months so technically I should reach 4,000 in a month or so. Great advice, however, not all of it works for the style of video I create. Thanks for all your help, vidiq! 🙏🏻💜
Love the advice and positive support here, we just hit 550 subs with 1800 hrs and counting, definitely a grind but having fun doing it, keep going everyone. 🤙🏽
I find it difficult to follow a lot of your suggestions when my content isn't really able to be scripted. I do try to come up with effective thumbnails and intro/hooks though. I don't see my channel getting to the 1000 sub and 4000 watch hrs. I am still enjoying learning from VidIQ though.
Only 925 hours after a little over a year. The subscriber requirement was simple once it got rolling. Watch hours... not so much. However, I feel like consistency has been my biggest hurdle.
this was an awesome video - the bit that resonated with me personally, the most, was how to find my voice/personality within the script... its something i am very much working on, as i am still a bag of nerves! confidence does not come naturally to me, but i have a message i want to share with the world, so i am building up to it by making videos about things i wish to share - that i can practice with, whilst still on topic! wishing you a great weekend :)
I done a video on how to make a thumbnail for youtube shorts and it works, but the thumbnail only works if the video is searched on yt and google, in the youtube homepage or in the suggested videos. It doesn't work on the shorts shelf yet I think.
if it helps... I make all my videos mainly recording from gameplay so i dont even use a camera now. in my live streams i use gameplay and my camera........ My camera is a logitech c930e a 1080p webcam and thats it. my videos are reacting to whats going on while i play, just gotta play games and be entertaining. the only expense is the PC itself. i dont worry about gear costs i just brought a half cheap mic the webcam and play games now.. 4000 hours of watch time in 1 year
Been taking your advice and for a while. Started a second channel. Within 2 months now have 100 subscribers. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll meet my goal and then set new goals for next year. 😁😊😁
Getting the 4k watch hours was super easy for me, 4400 in last year. But i'm struggling with gaining Subs only 550 of those but both statistics and views are increasing faster now.
@@vidIQ I keep calling but no one's picking up 😁😁. It is a small gaming channel and fairly niche so when i started i wasn't expecting to get big. I'm still very happy with views/watch hours but at current rate i expect to make it at around year's end.
Creators! I am a small channel on my journey to 4k watch time hours. Recently I have experienced a decline in views. For example, My early uploads received between 150-400 views with the exception of 2 videos getting 2.2k and 18k views then a sudden drop to 5 to 10 view. Do you have any suggestions or has this happen to you?
This is my second channel and I play Farming Simulator. The current game is FS 22. I like to play the older games as well. My main channel is myself making things. It's nothing particular, just anything. What advice do you have for that?
My other channel was made a month ago and in a month it has gained around 70 watch hours and 140 subs! It gets 100-600 views per video and a decent vph (most i got was 11vph) that channel is gonna go big I'm sure
I like what you explained about how to get 4,000 watch hours. I usually write a script for recording and try to hook my audience, but I think my hook is still very weak. Let's go small creators! We got this.
Great vid... It's simple really get people to click and get them to watch the video this is what RU-vid wants so think how you can get people to click and make the video appealing to them so they'll watch
Summarize 1. Script (outline) 2 The attractiveness of the first 8 seconds, followed by 30 seconds 3. Build realism with viewers 4 Practice voice until natural 5 Finally the call-to-action and closing screen
The Mr Beast example you gave, my kids and I watched and we all thought it was an AMAXING video!! Like, WHO KNEW there were those different type of planes out there for passengers...!
I started my youtube journey 3 weeks ago and I am 450 watch hours so far, I am trying to upload at least once a day and trying to keep my content on trend with the latest movie news that all the other big time RU-vidrs talk about, lets do this guys, consistency and hard work will pay off!!
Big issue though.... The algorithm works against you (or at least me) when improving things.... My click rate and AVD have improved a LOT in the last two months. It went from terrible to somewhat OK. And what did the algorithm do with it? A major drop in impressions! So all stats have improved, but number of views and therefore watch hours have dropped... Very frustrating!
I only started using scripts recently, I feel there are less flubs that way, but naturally, I still fumble my words every once in a while!😅 Just trying to be consistent after tossing stuff up on my channel intermittently for a few years.
That's why it's always fun grinding so that when you reach that milestone and look at the past you'll not even notice that Bro 😂. ( Those days were gone yo ).
@@vidIQ I spend about 20 hours on the thumbnail, the scripts and hooks take the most time for me to get good enough that I approve of them and also the editing is crucial to me
I'm at 1,026 hours. One of my videos has like 38k views but it is 30 seconds long haha The one thing that drains me is not getting any comments on my videos. I'm going to search for a video by you about that assuming you have one!
I noticed my videos average view duration has increased which I’m happy about. I just have to figure out how to attract more viewers. Glad this channel is around for the growth tips 💛
i currently have 3,711 out of 4,000 watch hours and i’m really worried that i won’t be able to get monetized because most of my videos have copyrighted audios, what should i do??
You're so close at this point I would just get to 4K, apply and see what happens. If they reject you, they'll tell you why and you can adjust accordingly.
I have a question is it the same if i can upgrade to pro on mobile then use my account on Desktop. Is it the same price or i have to upgrade again on Desktop
Honestly, yeah! 4000 watch hours isn't impossible at all! I upload ((VERY)) sporadically, and already have 1900 watch hours, and I'm 1/3 of the way to 1000 subs Very good advice, I remember finding this channel when I was like 10 years old trying to make Minecraft videos haha
I'm half way on both requirements, but because I didn't upload in 2 weeks (I'm back now) I barely get any views 😔. But at least I have 2 30 minute videos with 11k and 8.3k views each
I'm sorry but I have a question unrelated to the video...from where does the vidIQ extension get 'topics' info? Like this channel is 'lifestyle (sociology)'. I have seen some other channels as knowledge, health etc.
Its harder when ur channel is like "dead" i get no views whatever i try . And i dont knw if my channel has spam or something cuz its impossible to not gain any view :(( i gave up unfortunately...so heartbroken over it
Yea, my Short made almost 1000 hours of watchtime in 2 weeks and is still going strong. 130k views, 670 subscribers, 15k likes... all that from 1 Short BUT it only counts for 1 public hour of watchtime. That's so stupid.
The more entertaining and educating you make it the more the valuable it is Now all there is to it is to have that value generate ctr and watch time and you'll win youtube
I am not focused on anything but damn i am going good! Almost 1000 subs 1000 watching hours for less a year! Without a script plan just record publish this was it! Will i achieve 4000h i do not even care!
I dont really like to make scripts. but i do sometimes makes notes on what to say, just so i dont forget what to say. I rather "freestyle" it, because if i read from a script it doesnt feel real to me
Incredible advice. What I'm getting stuck at is the video editing. I went to shorts because they are easy to put together but that's not a good long time growth strategy. To anyone reading- let me know how I can improve my channel!
