In this video I will build a cnc machine with a concrete bed. reinforced concrete is a good material for building a home loom because it is cheap and easy to mold. It also has anti-vibration properties.
Either you should use cast iron frame for reinforcing or not use any (except in the seats for linear rails ofcourse), because Mild steel tends to stretch if force is apllied. That's what i got conclusion till now for concrete machine basse, no Glass fibre is going to work nor carbon fibre strends due to adhesion problem with concret.
Really loved it. Though about doing this, but haven't due to knowing concrete shrinks for many months, and even cracks on vibration. I was thinking on adding fiber reinforcement, but haven't yet. Do you have videos of it machining steel?
I waited six months before starting to process the concrete part. Now the machine is more than two years old. He's fine. I process steel in the first series about the rotary axis and in the video about homemade cutters.

Hello. I processed the parts on my other machine. This is a large homemade CNC machine. I made it for woodworking. The working field is 2.7 by 1.7 meters. The X and Y axes are driven by a rack.
Spindle 2.2 kW, air cooling, 24000rpm. More suitable for wood and aluminum. Four-flute cutters 6 and 8 mm. Spindle speed - 4800 rpm. Feed 500-600mm/min.
I didn't make a cad model. Too simple details. I just carried out calculations for deflection due to loads to find out the required thickness. The length of the rails and ball screws along all axes is 550 mm. The working stroke on all axes is 300 mm.
Before processing, the concrete parts were left to stand for six months and covered with paint. This machine is already three years old and there are no problems with it.
