Agreed. Definitely not “affordable”. Plenty of way cheaper options. However, it does look like a great option for a full featured lighter weight and smaller in size “all rounder” A better video title might have been “Powerful Small All-Rounder Camera”.
The title should be switched to cheaper, or more budget friendly. A budget friendly plane may be 200k, but that isnt the same as affordable even though planes are millions normally
@@hermanzhang6494 just buy yourself a 10 year old full frame DSLR. Cameras aren't like smart phones. The technological advancements of cameras aren't that fast
For a 6K camera, 1700 is ridiculously cheap compared to other 6K cameras, if you really want a bang for ur buck though I’d recommend a lumix g7, resells around 400, shoots in 4K, does the job
@@heymynameangel well, the X-S20 is 1500 and does 6K open gate as well and has a viewfinder, mechanical shutter, with the only "disadvantage" being it's APS-C. If this thing had a viewfinder I think it would be more appealing.
Great idea. I’ve bought all my instruments used, except for one of my saxes. You can get absolute steals if you’re willing to make a 3-hour drive or pay for shipping.
Used gear is awesome. Like you say, many people buy these things and just let them collect dust. Unless you're buying retired gear from professional photographers, every used lens and body I've purchased has been practically unused.
@@thomasmacdonough288 Not to mention manufacturer refurbished gear! I got a refurbished canon rp for 600$ from canon with a warranty when I got it, it was like new
The guys who buys S9 know perfectly why they buy it. This is the camera I have been waiting for 10 years, so I bought it immediately when it was available in my city. Definitely, I will not sell it any soon, it is fantastic camera with the Sigma compact prime lenses.
No hot shoe, no viewfinder, 6.2k for ten minutes, 4k for 20 minutes, poor controls, no audio out, pancake lens only with manual focus and aperture of F8. 1500 for a body only Good luck with that 😂
@@jjOnceAgain thats complete bs. They are by far not in the 3-5k. Its 2-3k and under 2k if you get a good deal or cash back. Smth sony and fuji do a lot
I'm seeing so many comments justifying the price tag for this camera, and while I think it is a powerful camera I cannot agree with the affordable part. I think the title was originally "An Affordable full-frame camera" for this short, which is now changed to "Affordable 6k video camera" to make it more sense (though I could be wrong, so sorry if my memory is incorrect Tom). But as there's already an actual affordable (and newly made) full-frame camera - Nikon Z5 - I still can't agree with "one of the most affordable full-frame camera" part. currently $821.99 on amazon for body-only, and Nikon made it much more content camera after years-long software updates. It does suck at video part, but 1080p wise it's still decent. For video part, other than I don't get the obsession with 'full-frame' tag, I don't think it's even a good budget video camera when there's severe recording limits (6k 10min, 4k 15min, fhd 20min??), no viewfinder, no hotshoe, no anti-flickering, suffering from rolling shutter. I would go with new APS-C (super 35mm) cameras which are a lot more affordable than the full-frame (and more variety as well), Panasonic S5 which is full-frame currently under $1200 (body) with lot more features. And then there's a wide world of well-used cameras. But what do I know? According to many comments in this section I'm hopelessly broke when I don't find this camera attractive for it's price tag. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@icedcocoa01 that is because you don't know the difference between a full-frame camera and an iphone. For a semi-professional camera, $1.7k is amazing pricing.
This camera is $1500 USD it's not affordable when you consider how little you get for your money. You can get a used EOS R5 or R6mkII for around $2000 and get way more value for your money.
Canon R7 or Sony FX30 would be wayyyyy better especially if you want to shoot video lot more support and lenses better af just as many codec options more flexibility or if you want full frame there’s the R8 and these are all the brand new options maybe if it was priced more accordingly like say 1k maybe 1,100$ but for 1500-1700$ it just doesn’t make any sense imo
A second hand a7r ii is more affordable still, yet has twice the resolution, 4k, pdaf, ibis... All of that in 2015, currently for half the price on ebay. A steal.
Apsc battery, 4k30 at 100mbps 8bit, no open gate,no 4k60, 4k is also from a lineskip variant,blurry fhd, pre a7iii/a6400 colors, ibis issues ( like the a7ii ), bad low light performance ( 1-1,5 stop worse )
This camera is trash. You have 10 min record limit that's pretty much useless. You're better off making videos with your phone and saving up your money for a real camera. For Photography we'll see how the AF works when the non-sponsored reviewers get to test it.
@@jaysonva4256 I tried it the other day and it’s not good for anything you’d get paid for. It’s good for street stuff with a 24 or 35 mil but other than that, the AF doesn’t track well, I get banding under LED lightings, and the readout is slow so when taking pictures of folks playing soccer or volleyball, the ball or arms will warp. The cam isn’t good enough for its specs. Also, why is there no grip??? It’s like a phone with a lens mount
@@bryan3am With a rolling shutter sensor and no mechanical shutter, it's not going to compete with any of those either. X100 has an F2 lens whereas this camera has no lens that small and bright. Bruh you just looked at the physical dimensions and thought "oh a competitor!" without taking ANY other factors into account? 💀
@@bryan3am if you want to compete with fujifilm and leica, missing an EVF is a big discouragement for photographers. With this price I would at least want a EVF. All I can say is that’s a Ricoh with video features and bigger sensor… lol such a stupid decision for Panasonic
Yes its expensive for a camera, but it's already been pointed out by many people that it is considered affordable COMPARED to other cameras of its type. And, for the people its i.e. content creators, its great. Film in the average 16:9 aspect ratio, then crop to whatever you need for shortform content, or 9:16. It also debuts a few new streamlined editing features. What im getting at is that its cheap AND competitive for the people shopping for this kind of camera
@@tonkatsu9907 there’s no electronics that allow anything you may place in the slot to communicate with the camera, thus by definition makes it a “cold shoe”
How does Panasonic go from inventing the first camcorder with image stabilization to forgetting about adding contacts to a 1,000$+ camera’s shoe so you can use Speedlites? At least, they could’ve put an additional connection in the shoe so you could use some accessories they made like a viewfinder or a microphone, like the Sony Multi Interface Shoe
Panasonic actually still thinks they’re in 2008. You’ll actually need uber-proprietary software in order to even read and export the files, you will have to jump through hoops since the software only works for Windows 8 32-bit and it’s also only available as a Metro app that only works on a Let’s Note CF-XZRF7VS, otherwise it will outright crash the whole in classic, convoluted Panasonic style.
@@phin1871 Still a waste of money. It's bad for video because it's got a 15min recording limit, and it's bad for stills because it doesn't even have a mechanical shutter despite using a slow sensor. You'll get rolling shutter on anything that moves.
Of course it is a substantial amount of money, but there are very few cameras with this kind of specs. Not every camera has open gate at 6.2k on a full frame sensor. There are other options, and the one that seems the most comparable is the sigma fp.
Yes it is. Full-frame cameras are usually $3-5k. It's very cheap within the category. It's like saying a $30k sports car. Can you find cheaper cars? Yes, but it's an affordable car in it's category
Really interesting point with the aspect ratio, that’s pretty cool. Not something I’d have thought of as a plus, but actually very useful in a time where content has to be posted in different aspect ratios for various platforms/content types.
Panasonic executives were WAY too high to think. They didn’t even think about normal camera things or stuff that would be a great compelling reason why to buy an S9 over other cameras.
@@jjOnceAgain this is like the 5th time you ever copy pasted this comment with wrong information. Full frame cameras (brand new) start at 1200 bucks. If we’re talking used in new condition with less than 4 hours of use time, they start at around 800 bucks
@kylejenkins5050 Don't compare used cameras to new ones. Fujifilm's GFX50S is $3k, Sony A7 iv is $2.2k, Nikon's Z 8 is $3.5k, and Cannon's R5 is $3k. A $1,700 camera is extremely affordable in it's category
@@jjOnceAgain Right but those cameras blow this out the water they aren't in the same bracket. This costs the same as an s5ii in some regions. It's a fine camera but it's style over substance. It's for people that want a cool camera not for budget minded people.
@@VideoGameBoxReviews Hey bro, I mean this new camera w/o mechanic shutter, no hot shoes, no EVF, no small & compact lens to choose from (that MF 26mm F8 is a joke), recording limit (even in FHD), plastic body (no weather sealing) and it charged for 1500$
The RU-vid algorithm is the devil because now I'm curious to buy this lol, those samples look stunning! Never seen your videos before or any camera-related vids in general, just gonna have a quick look around the channel!
I bought this camera, the Panasonic S9, as the first customer in my city, immediately when it was available. In my decision almost none of the features mentioned here played any major role. My preferences were totally different, this was the camera I had been waiting for 10 years.
I hate this shit. CHOOSE your words carefully. I watched this and was like "damn, if it's affordable maybe I'll check it out, I've been looking for a good video camera and this looks great"....I checked the comments and this is mad expensive. There's nothing affordable about it at all, how out of touch with reality and the economy are these people???
@@soprolakido Then it's a false equivalence. $1400 is an affordable price, for a new full frame camera. That's like someone going "this brand new sports car is affordable" and you go "No, because if you buy a used 2008 car its cheaper"
people are compaining that he called it “affordable” when he in fact called it “one of the most affordable full-frame cameras”. just because it looks similar it cannot be compared to your mother’s point-and-shoot from 2006. it has a full-frame sensor and his statement is just comparing it to others like it
Lol people keep crying about one word the guy said. For over 90% of us, this (photography/videography with a camera) is a luxury, not a necessity, so being affordable should be put in context when compared with other recent full frame cameras that offer similar features out there. It will not be affordable when the buyers can’t even consider other options.
@@willywonka3050 Canon R8, RP, A6700 with a speed booster all beat this lumix. This LUMIX has cool features to keep up with the pack, but not any real hardware to stand out. I’d buy a used one for an actual deal and use it for everyday carry but not for paid gigs
I agree not cheap , i don’t know what other brand or models run for that probably support what this does as well . If I had to guess it’s touristy cheaper than the alternatives
Full frame and all that in such a small camera? OMFG! 🤯 I used to be really interested in cameras some years ago but left that hobbie around 2019, technology has come so far
Frame of reference for Photography RU-vidrs. Anything over $600 is not considered "affordable" by anyone making under $200,000 a year, which is 99% of people.
I feel like I’m not trusting a lot of new companies except Sony canon or Nikon. I think that one of them with a good lens is basically all you need instead of a bunch of small artisan cameras. It does look quite nice though.
The S5 II doesn't cost that much more either. I don't understand the hype from many RU-vidrs about the S9. 15 or 10 minutes shooting limit, no viewfinder and an F8 pancake without autofocus. I don't understand Panasonic. A Gx9 II would have made much more sense. But the photography world is simply clamouring for the so-called full-frame format, which in reality is a 35 mm format.
I feel like people saying $1500 is unaffordable when Canons newest video camera goes for $6000+. Ill definitely be buying this camera especially with best buys 12 month 0 interest financing
@@kris4637 You missed my point: all the LUT he showed on this video looked very teal&orange. All of them... so, honestly people are abusing that kind of filtering.
I always naturally hate RU-vidrs who say extremely premium things like this $1500 cam is affordable. If you meant anything else like it is the cheapest among all 6K cam then say it in the video. Otherwise it will just mislead everyone. My god, RU-vidrs are so out of touch from reality.
People seem to have a bad grasp of English The MOST affordable and the cheapest mean the same thing, it's just one makes it sounds better The most affordable x sounds better then the cheapest x
Most affordable because Panasonic sent them one for free💀💀 i know because other RU-vidr admitted that Panasonic sent them one for free.
