I'm at least one or two shops behind you in terms of setup, but I find it so comforting to see you mention things that you have changed your mind over the years or various things you prefer, and that I share so many of the same opinions. Hope you keep making videos, I'll be watchin'!
Whatever works for you! People thrive in different environments. I'm a little crazy and need everything in its place just to function... Not healthy at times lol.
Fantastic video Blake! I very much like the new editing / video style. You have a very clean and slick workshop. I’m looking forward to the Day i have something remotely comparable ;)
Oh and definitely a Festool ETS ec 150/5 sander, I know you said you don’t own any Festool gear and I totally understand why but it’s one of the best investment by far that I’ve made for my shop 👊🏻
Found your videos from Scott Walsh... something about you seemed familiar... then you said Sun Chips and I immediately recognized the Mitch Hedberg vibe... crisis of ADHD hyperfocus averted...
Just subbed. I’m a mid career mechanical engineer. I watched 2 other of your videos and i was hooked. Great content. I have a wood shop I’m setting up but not a complete build out like yours. Wow. Amazing setup. Congrats. I did have a question… have an issue with ducting my dryer. The builder used a very long run and I’m trying to correct it. Do you have a recommendation of what to watch to get ideas? I get lint build up and prob some condensation issues. I live in southern California, so the thermal issues aren’t as harsh as your climate zone. Great your. Congrats.
Clever ideas mate, I have a smaller shop here in Northern Ireland uk and space is important, I did pick up some great ideas from you, keep up the excellent work, kindest regards Louie
you have an awesome shop. Multiple camera angles was pretty cool to see. Your sounds isolation is impressive. I find the noise goes up a lot when the tool is in operation compared to running bit I'm sure your setup can handle it.
I'm guessing your day job is your an engineer. I give you credit for only taking that small spot in your basement. I would have wanted the whole basement...:)
First off, can't believe you only have 1.2k subs.... your channel is so good. Production/editing and honestly brilliant setup forethought and implementation. Fellow ME and hobbyist ww. One question, u mention your 7" ducting but the calculations done for your system were less than 7, closer to 6 I believe so u suggested rounding down for max efficiency. Why did u decide to go with 7 if that's the case? Thanks, from Michigan. Keep going with the channel. It's gonna blow up!
Thanks for the kind words! Nice to have some motiviation lol. Summer has been busy but plan to get back at the videos shortly. To answer your question - check out 10:04 in EP18 (duct sizing vid) to see the calcs for my shop. I had calculated 7.4" and rounded down to 7". I hope it's clear there. THANKS FOR WATCHING :)
@@GregsWorkshopOregon lol right.... Now! Made a bed for my neighbor this past weekend but didn't film that. Next project to film is a dining room table.
Hi Mark! Thanks for following along. I haven't been to active on RU-vid as of late... Life has been hectic but I'm hoping to make some more videos soon. I've done a few side jobs and I'm starting a few more right now. I'm currently building an outfeed table for the table saw and starting a 72" round dining table for a client next. Check me out on instagram in the meantime!
Hi! I just discovered your channel, and it's already subbed. Professional video, great shop layout! Just a quick question r/t your Hammer. I just ordered one myself, that's how I found your channel. You mentioned that you increased the dust port size from 5 to 6 inches. How did you accomplish that? Self made hack or is there a third party wider flange available?
Hi Johannes. Congrats on your purchase and thanks for the kind words! I had a HVAC sheet metal supplier build a 5x7 (please confirm) to 6" round transition. Shouldn't cost much and you can fasten with self drilling screws.
Just subscribed, but have been watching your videos for some time. I really dig your shop, and have put the same effort into my garage shop. Like you, I am an engineer by trade, and hobbyist carpenter/woodworker. I would like to share with you my shop, although I don't do YT videos.
Thank you so much for these videos. I've been planning my own basement woodshop, so to see that you had success soundproofing gives me confidence in doing my own build. When you were taking measurements, I really wanted to see the number on the other side of the shop wall, not just upstairs -- do you have a reading for that?
Sorry but I don't think I do! It's really good though. You can hold a normal conversation with no interruption whatsoever. You need to pay close attention to notice the DC running and jointer running a 12" wide board.
Thanks Sam! It was actually the first cut too. Started as a practice run then half way through we said, let's just use this! Thanks for following along :)
Nice tour, awesome that you and your girl did this together. You have a great shop. I have been resisting the festool spell for a very long time, and now that I have the ETS EC150/5 I can say the biggest mistake I made was waiting. It is a slippery slope, I also have a track saw now and a vac coming soon lol.
Never owned a router lift, so I was contemplating between the Jessem Mast-R-Lift II and Sawstop. Because of this video, I chose the Sawstop because of the mounting. Sawstop uses (2) holes on the sides of the plate, rather than at each corner like every other lift. Didn't want to spend $400+ on the Jessem and have to drill holes.
Yes and good call... It really sucks lol. I have it snugged in there with the set screws and it's quite heavy with a router in it. Don't think it's going anywhere but I sure wish it was secured with some fasteners!
@@BlakePizzey I’ll look up his setup as well. Great content! A further comment is I’m looking forward to more content from you. Your wife’s support adds a terrific aspect to your woodworking journey. Mine tolerates it and is okay with some of my toys. We’re both engineers (older now) but she doesn’t share my stronger desires to build things. I’m looking forward to following your journey!
