You haven't done a video on wallbox yet, available here in Australia, but $1600 so expensive. Don't forget to say where they are made. I have a zappi mk1 because it UK made.
I've fitted a few of these now and it's a brilliant little charger. The CT clamp is the smaller RJ22 connection and the bigger rj45 is for the network cable
Just had one installed. Like the size and pretty pleased but that blue light is BRIGHT especially in the small hours. The blue light flashes when awaiting instructions and yesterday morning a neighbour asked if we'd had an ambulance visit overnight. So despite being small it's far from discreet.
They definitely missed a trick with the tethered one by not using the blanked off port as a holder for the cable when not in use! That would have been a fantastic and clean way to store the cable
I have this unit and I have had one issue of it loosing connection but a simple fuse reset and it was back. I wish I could dim the halo lights as at night its rather bright, so I have to place the wheelie in front of it - other than that its great product for the price, especially because you don't need an earth rod installed.
Your halo light is now dimmer SyncEV tell me they specially dimmed yours just now, which just amazed me they read this text me and did all this in 14 minutes!
@@NicolasRaimo wow, i will check that out when i get home, thank you Nick and SyncEV - I have to say their own home installers are great (they are based in Sussex and i live in Sussex, so got very lucky) and did a cracking job installing my unit and at a fantastic price - so a huge shout out to Craig at SyncEV
Great stuff you are going through this with these chargers - but honestly, it seems more like a scam because of this grant-thing. Where else can you buy what is really just a smart socket for £500-£1500. Funny enough, you never see anyone below £499 "all inclusive with after the grant". It sounds like a great big rip-off again - both for consumer and government :) I'd wish you would make a comparison chart on your website, too, so you can compare them side-by-side, what's included, functionality, earthed required etc. Maybe you could even make a score system, and see where which scores most and least - it will be easier to make a decision, otherwise it is like to be based more on price rather than quality and benefits of the socket. Keep it green ;)
There’s so much more to these units than just a socket! The safety systems alone are massively complex, if you want a stupid dumb socket for EV charging with no safety plenty on Amazon but I won’t be plugging in my expensive car to them or risking my garage catching fire, there used to be loads of chargers around for £100 early days after grant before smart tech and safety standards got improved and minimum warranty levels. I know a large firm of rapid chargers won’t make EV chargers as they can’t work out how everyone else can do it this cheap
@@NicolasRaimo thanks for replying Nick! No joy, so will call them today to get it sorted. Great video on the Kona's btw! Can't believe they're charging for a heat pump now!
They are adding dimming options to app and if you requested that feature they would likely add it or temporarily disabled yours remotely as they did on someone else’s in comments
All seems like it’s all a big secret. I’m thinking of a Kia Niro +4 and looking into the installation of a charger. No manual? And if you install it yourself you can’t get the grant. I have a degree in electronics, I’m quite capable of putting 3 wires under 3 screws. I was interested in the mains connection on an RCD board, 2 RCDs? and the cat5 connection to the house LAN. In the event I progress this, I will in all likelihood get an installer to do the work, being basically lazy, it’s just that it’s almost like somebody is saying you’re not intelligent enough to understand this, which I find annoying.
Ofrex these devices are 7kw if you read the regs your not allowed to fit one of these unless you can sign it off your be voiding your insurance on your home, same fitting an oven or electric shower that’s of same power. If your wanting to save every penny find an approved ozev installer and come to an agrrrment you put all wiring in and he just signs it off
@@NicolasRaimo Hi Nicolas. Sorry I forgot to say, good video, I enjoyed it. I think I said I was not contemplating installing it myself, however my understanding of part P regs is that a ‘competent’ self certifying person can carry out the work and sign it off. I agree with you that if the house burnt down and investigation proved it to be due to poor workmanship..... What I would find interesting is what the other end of the cat5 cable can be connected to. I understand the current measuring part, but not sure how the LAN connection is made. Hopefully the manual will be released, I wouldn’t buy one if it wasn’t, due to needing information if I needed to make updates/alterations in the future. Now we are out of the EU I would like to think that further regulations will concentrate on safety, rather than profit. Cheers Noel
If you are installing a new circuit from the consumer unit (required for EV chargers) Then yes it will come under Part P. You can carry out this work yourself if you deem yourself 'competent' but you would have to arrange for your local building control to sign it off (at a large cost probably). So it's generally easier to get an electrician who is a member of a Competent Person Scheme (NICEIC/Napit) to complete works - preferably OLEV approved to make use of the grant. I'm also not sure you would be able to validate the 3 year warranty on a self install as this is normally done by the installer. In regards to the RCD query it's recommended to install on a MCB at the consumer unit not protected by an RCD - to avoid issues with two RCDs inline. Some situations will require an RCD (cables buried in wall etc) so sometimes it can't really be avoided unfortunately.
@@mickbitchum4664 2 videos on efixx, the live video with me doing electricians challenge and another interview style video Then 1 on my channel about charging by 13 amp socket
Hi it's Jeffery from Blackpool I do appreciate the time and work you put in to your videos I'm living in a tent in the back of a van I'm struggling to charge my G wiz there is nowhere in Blackpool to charge with a three pin plug I wos wondering if you had any idea how to change to tip 2 charger
Isn't the G Wiz just a type 1 connection? so your public lead is type 2 end and your car end is type 1.. so untethered charger like one shown will work fine
have a search round the web your be able to find something similar to this amzn.to/3hwYhBK for doing a comadno or a 3 pin plug this lead much cheaper option if you want to throw more money at it speak to a HEVRA garage to do a conversion for you.
@@AAAAAA-zu5vf again my needs and yours won’t be the same, it’s down to so many factors. Price/style/tethered/size/look/solar/agile/app/connection types
@@NicolasRaimo Hi Nick. I and my EV are just outside Bedford and yes I have an install scheduled for Tuesdfay. I may do a YT vid on it if the electrician agrees
Hi Mike as mentioned it’s something I was disappointed in, I suggested using different plugs so one can’t be plugged in another or a connector block so the back plate pushes into pins when connected with front plate they said they will look into it with version updates they have planned
