In Japan, the quaint town of Kamikatsu tackles waste head-on. Residents there meticulously sort through a whopping 45 waste categories, achieving a remarkable 80% recycling rate. Dive into their unique waste management system and see the obstacles they encounter. The documentary then shifts focus to Kobe, where residents fight against the construction of coal-fired power plants, highlighting the health and environmental concerns amidst Japan's ongoing energy policy struggles.

The Japanese would love me, all cardboard is flattened. Every bottle, can & tin is rinsed thoroughly before I put them in the bin, I make sure they're spotless. 😂 also we have to put our bins out on the pavement (sidewalk) the night before otherwise they won't take them. 🙄😒

When he said the area smells of rotten eggs, it made me chuckle because it reminded me of farts. 😂😭

Well. .... But are the items truly reused/melted down?????? Where do the items go, after sorting?????

Because in Japan people care. That’s the key.

If you don't sort 45 ways you are punished. Sounds like a bad dream.

if these people didnt' do the sorting, it'd fall on other workers to do, as it does in lots of Western nations like Britain or America. Someone has to do it; this way at least everybody's responsible for only themselves.
