My favorite and I think most important thing about your channel is that it addresses being late diagnosed. It is extra isolating and seeing you and the others posting here has meant a lot to me. There are many of us out there who need the answers we've somehow found. We all need to help them find it how we can and your channel is a good way of doing so. I also agree to be welcome or benefit from your channel the answer need not necessarily be autism, but finding who you are and being that person.
Your channel and this little community you’ve created definitely helps me feel less alone on this journey. Congratulations on all the new subscribers, you totally deserve it!
My “favorite” question I was asked after I realized I had undiagnosed ASD was from my dad. “Are you sure?” “Yeah dad, never been more sure of anything!”
Happy Monday everyone! I'm hoping for a better week this week because I was sick last week for the third time in two months. Not sure what that's about. But I can't wait for cold season to be over. June can't get here fast enough.
@@WoodshedTheory Yeah that would be great. I suck at it. No clue how to make them, or how to to act (around them), but I somehow manage to have a couple? Weird...
Thank you for providing us with a safe space ❤️ It’s really freeing to come here and just sit and listen to you talk and enjoy your coffee ☕️ I so appreciate what you do for the autism community. Every time I watch your videos, I always feel so calm and grounded. 🙏🏼😊🌻🐰
Fly season is indeed upon us 😆 my mom got her hair stuck in a fly trap once and I had to help her wash it out of her hair along w all the flies. That was not fun lol. I'm drinking coffee as well, just got into work and gonna enjoy this fine memorial day, remembering those who sacrificed for our safety and freedom, including my dad - may he rest in peace. Love your coffee mug, so unique! I have a coffee mug collection 🙃
That's an awesome mug! I have to use the same mug every day. I really enjoyed your Love on the Spectrum reviews. You provided a nice narrative and really insightful analysis. I feel less alone with your channel. I also feel like autism is normal here, like I don't have to focus on the ways I'm different because I feel accepted here. Congratulations on the new members! So awesome!
@@WoodshedTheory not sure if you've seen this, but Michael is lovely. I'm not 100% on his mam though, but he's great ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--0mbDC6-ucc.html
Some mugs have a hole in the handle for a spoon, sure it's not for that? No idea about bob's burgers so I'm typing this. I watch because I like your sense of humour (& you do interesting & varied stuff). I broke my 'main' drinking glass 3wks ago in a stupid accident so I was drinking out of the 'wrong' glass/es for a week. Managed to find a replacement at the carboot sales that I liked the look of & have 'bonded' with that one now.
Thanks for the video Claire... I enjoy the content. I see some of your handiwork around you, very nice... I'm self diagnosed last year... and yes, it was an eye opener. It explained a lot... Kind of a wow moment...but I'm good with it. I went a long time wondering why I was so different than others... Now, in conversation, I try not to say much... Again, thanks for the video...
Hey Claire! Just dropping in to express how much I enjoy Porch Coffee even if I don't often have much to say. Look into getting a venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula)! Sounds like they'd have some good eating. They're native to the marshy coastal areas of the Carolinas, though, so I don't know how well they'd match in terms of climate to where you are. Maybe there's another carnivorous plant that would be a better fit.
Stephen I am so happy to have you here - so I did have some carnivorous plants that didn’t make it but I have recently acquired a small table top green house they might do well in
Happy Porch Coffee y'all! (I seem to be noticing the use of y'all has increased recently, wonder why? 🤔) Thanks for the impromptu Bob's Burgers review, didn't know it was a thing! I can't deal with cinemas so will wait for streaming, but with much anticipation now. Always identified with Louise 😂 👯 Glad to hear that your subscriptions are on the rise, I always believed it would come. Congratulations and welcome to all the new followers💜 I think it will continue as more of the "lost generation" become aware of themselves and the fact dawns that they do not have to be alone in their struggles. Have a good week, looking forward to the next content.
Hi Smoo - good question on the y’all - I did spend a few years in Texas but I think my desire for a 3rd person common plural is from being exposed to it in other languages. It’s a gap in English in my opinion.
@@WoodshedTheory Good point! Hadn't thought of it like that. My British-centric blind spot with the language hadn't picked up on that. It's not something we use. Thanks.
Bob's Burgers is me and my boyfriend's safe show, we watch it every night to fall asleep haha. We are both late diagnosed autistic too! Bob's is great and the whole family is pretty ND coded ;) Love your videos, thanks!
That's great! May I ask how you met your boyfriend, or is it too personal? I'm trying to figure out how all of this works (relationships)... and I sure am having a hard time.
Hi! New subscriber, here. Early 50s, diagnosed last year. Yeah, it sure explains my life. I'm so relieved & happy that I found your channel. Thanks! I have lots of mugs, with my favorites being my 24-ounce Hello Kitty ones (all, same design). I MUST drink my coffee & tea from them. All of my other mugs are great & I love them. But I'm a stickler on from what I drink my coffee & tea. ☕
Thank you Claire. Im newly aware of my autism and your videos have been some of the best for me. I like them in the morning before work. Thankfully I have a lot to catch up on. You're adorable.
@@WoodshedTheory thank you for replying! I have been Googling this crochet and autism thing. Could you do a video where you crochet and talk what it means to you? 🐥❤
Hi! A couple things... btw I rarely comment but wanted to share I found u thru mom on the spectrum and I am glad I did I could use another asd homegirl on the interwebs lol. I recently realized I am indeed on the spectrum, not sure if and when I will get a formal diagnosis I really can't stand to be shut out and told no.....when I know my truth. I actually starting thinking I was on the spectrum when I watched the first season of Love on the Spectrum I would have tears just falling from my eyes because I could relate soooooo much it hit so hard but I doubted because the people they picked seemed to have more obvious struggles I guess u could say....I dont want to say higher or lower functioning. I just got rid of Netflix so I am excited to watch your reviews. I also love Bob's Burgers❤ can't wait to see the movie.
Love my MOTS gals so grateful to have you. Brianna self diagnosis is valid and we are happy to have you. I was also scared about getting diagnosed cause I had to pay out of pocket and was worried I was making things up
It's a mad cartoon show - probably on Comedy Central/Cartoon Network/Adult Swim et al. I swear that the Belcher family kids are coded autistic, hence the comments likening themselves to one or more of the characters. Has won Emmy's and nominated for loads more. It's cool. But that's just my opinion. Depends on whether you like quirky cartoons or not. I always liken it to "King of the Hill" - but that probably dates me.
@@smicketysmoo thanks for explaining it. I do like weird cartoons but am sensitive/don't like crude or fowl language or mean behavior. I know King of the Hill but don't know if I ever watched it. I used to watch The Simpsons way back in the day, and I always thought King of the Hill had a similar vibe, but maybe not.
@@andreaharmon8931 Yes, Bob's Burgers is definitely more of the Simpsons vibe, but actually quirkier. It is more recent and therefore a progression of that style. It is family friendly and heart warming. As I say, just my opinion.
@@smicketysmoo thanks. Maybe I'll give it a watch first without kids. I've got younger kids. I grew up watching The Simpsons when it first came out. King of the Hill came out when I was a teenager and I don't know if I actually ever sat down and watched an episode, though I'm sure I was exposed to it. I got more picky with what I watched as I got older and especially after having kids. I'm sure I'd find humor in Bob's Burgers. I really don't watch a lot of TV and I go see a movie about every 5 years or more. Though I watch plenty of Netflix or Disney plus movies. Where does Bob's Burgers tv series stream?
@@andreaharmon8931 Probably a good idea to watch w/out the children, they may not get a lot out of it. Not violent or nasty though, just anarchic. As to where to see it - ? I live in EU so catch it on Comedy Central, but believe it is also shown on Adult Swim and Cartoon Network. Good luck and hope you enjoy.
No it doesn't, I banish you from the channel. Kidding. Since it's all subjective I'm going to guess 10 years old would be the beginning of 'late'. It would make sense for another category of adult-diagnosed.
@@stijn2472 It really is a semantic discussion, and language is fuzzy. We, as a people, tend to suck at imprecision. I had a bit of a tantrum when I tried to figure out which generation I belong to, Gen X,Y,Z, millennial? The borders between them move. It's madness.
