Ah yes that Radlands box is definitely a tight fit as it is for everything (dropping those water droplets in gets me every time 🤣). Thanks again so much for having us at your club Ralf. Patience is a word very much needed to teach and learn and play this game, as in gaming and life generally. A fortune I usually don't have, so gaming overall is a good way to counterbalance the otherwise hectic lifestyle.

I had forgotten about Dream Crush! Shut up and Sit Down were the ones that put it in my radar and it's one I wouldn't mind picking up, if I saw it. Especially after the lovely coverage from you two. And I don't want to pry, but I'm interested in Maggie's journey of almost joining a nunnery. While I personally don't want to join, it's such a positive lesson to be less materialistic and it's amazing to hear that she was able to adapt that lesson through whatever process Maggie was going through. But I didn't grow up with much, so I do feel the claws of commercialism get to me more often than I would like. It's a work in process. Glad to hear yall have been able to go out there and enjoy new company and get new experiences in! So thanks for taking the time for another lovely video and have a good one!

Another great Long Talk! So to continue your education on Finland, the pronunciation of Suomi is "SOO - OH - MEE" I believe is come from "suo" which means swamp or fen and "maa" which means land and over time suomaa became Suomi and Fen-land became Finland. Ta-da! Funny that you also got my IAQ this episode because I'm setting up Tabannusi: Builders of Ur to try solo and I thought it was a good time because my husband is off travelling tomorrow and the dining room table won't be needed for a while. For your Awful Wall, that sounds like the same thing I learned in a great book called Atomic Habits. One way to introduce new habits is to make them so easy that they are achievable - for example, to get back into writing this summer I set a timer for 5 minutes and wrote for those 5 minutes a day for two weeks. It was hard to stop, but you need to so that the next day you aren't thinking, "Ugh, it's not going to be 5 minutes, it'll probably half and hour to an hour." When it was only 5 minutes it was a piece of cake and then slowly you extend it over time and then I was writing an hour a day without that feeling of the Wall of Awful. Talking about keeping or selling things, when I moved to Finland from Vancouver (completely avoided joining the priesthood thankfully), I had to sell all of my things that I couldn't fit into a regular van to drive across the country and store in my parents' basement. That has also helped me to easily accept when it's time to get rid of something. BUT that being said, there are games that might not get played much at all, but there's something about them that keeps me holding on. oh and NUNNERY?!?!?!?! Do tell!! This might actually become an FAQ from all of us instead of an IAQ
Oo the 5 min goal is interesting! Especially stopping at that mark... that would be tricky. Maggie has read atomic habits as well - she loves this type of thing! She is telling me all about it now 😁 I can totally relate to the "something about them" comment... sometimes for me it is even the memory of playing them even if I'm not going to play them again I need to work on that thank you for the beautiful postcard & the teaching of Suomi... and the IAQ! Listened to this as a podcast on my walk after work on Tuesday, now relaxing with a coffee on Sunday morning watching the video. Love the natural unscripted back and forth dynamic you have. My game group also loved Dream Crush, it is so funny if you get the right people round the table.

Great question! We definitely will but are looking for the space to play all of our favourites again to see if they still make the grade! We've played over 150 different games this year so far and we should rate them as we go but we don't 😂 so need to spend some time thinking about it. Ugh Radlands was on my KS wishlist! I went back and forth on whether or not to back it and I ultimately let it pass me by 🥺🥺 but I’m glad you guys had a good gaming experience with it! And I’m so happy you guys are getting so much gaming in our and about to make up for lost time!

I have long been into horror books, movies and games, but never really saw the point of Halloween. I'm just contrary, obviously. Having said that, Inkling and Radlands both look very cool.
Thanks for answering my IAQ! I listened to this small talk via podcast, and I forgot to comment until now! I'm always impressed by content creators. It's gotta be something you really have to enjoy because it takes so much time and effort! I guess board gamers probably share a lot of common youtube subscriptions (at least starting a few years ago) as perhaps there weren't as many choices as there are today. Even so, I imagine a lot of people still hit the big ones like Rahdo, The Dice Tower, SU&SD, etc. I think I knew I was deep into watching board game content when Paula Deming came out with her parody video of various content creators, and I was familiar with every single one :D I actually haven't been listening to board game podcasts for all that long (maybe 3 years?), but I always enjoy listening to Suzanne, Mandi, Tom and Eric, especially when they do combined episodes. I'm not sure if I'll ever get into solo board gaming. I think I'd almost always choose a book, movie, PC, or video game over a solo board game. But I can definitely understand people who want to get away from a screen and enjoy the tactile nature of board games. When I first started growing my collection, I did try and hunt down some of the rarer games. I started being less of a collector as I started running out of space. I try to make it easier to say goodbye to games by telling myself that someone else will be able to enjoy those games more. A few content creators have done videos recently about games they're never getting rid of. One game I slightly regret getting rid of is the kickstarter game, Promenade which is being published as Art Decko. It had Ta-Te Wu's original artwork and also a canvas playmat. I probably will always hold onto a copy of Titan (an old-school ameritrash game I learned in college) and The Great Dalmuti (also played a ton in college and every holiday with the family). Not much else comes to mind though. Inkling looks like a fun game! I'll add it to my wishlist. I actually backed Radlands as there was a local "group buy" which tempted me. Not sure if I'll ever get it to the table. Winter Queen's box art and title reminded me of a sci-fi book I read a long time ago called The Snow Queen. Just looked it up on amazon, and there are three more related books. Might have to give those a try! :D See you both next week on back chat! Seems like crowdfunding is slowing down a bit which is good as I have to save some money to buy gifts for xmas :)

On your discussion about trilogies/same universe, I don't usually care if I own all of them. I do like having a few games where the art and iconography is consistent. I love Architects and Viscounts of the west kingdom, Paladins doesn't sound as appealing to me. But it does irk me a little that I don't own all 3 haha. I have to keep telling myself that I don't need to complete the collection. I have a feeling that if I see a second hand copy of Paladins super cheap, my self-control would fail!
Ahahahah and therein lies the publisher strategy 😂 I feel that pull too to complete the set. Maybe that's why I try not to engage with the worlds as much... too expensive to think about it hehehe

A friend gave me the same advice one day and it changed my world, if I want it again I can buy it again. Only just reaching a point I want to move games on but reluctant wondering if I've gotten everything out of a game possible. Maybe there's someone out there who will play it totally differently and will blow my mind. Haha.
That's an interesting thought - wondering if you've explored all elements of the game! My reluctance is usually more around what if I want to play it one day or what if it goes out of print! But ultimately if there's another game I would always choose over it that's how it ends up on the cull pile (with a bit of encouragement from Maggie!) Thanks for watching as always ❤

Yes, for sure now we NEED to hear the full nun story! :) As a pretty religious person myself I just hope you have not been hurt too much coming to terms with your sexual orientation. Various churches have unfortunately been inflicting a lot of grief in this regard :( Also: Do you ever play board games with kids? Like nieces/nephews or kids of friends of yours? I play with my seven year old son, who is in the autism spectrum and has adhd, so I am thinking a lot about what games we can play, what is too early and so on. What game would you select for a kid like that? Loved the episode! Thank you!

We don't have too many children in our life so we don't really get an opportunity to try games out with them or see how they interact with games of different levels. A friend of mine has For Sale and Blokus in heavy rotation with his kids as two shorter experiences that they love. Likewise "the Builders." What do you enjoy playing with your son? @@ThinkerThemer Thank you for the nice answer! We like to play Zombie Kidz and Rhino Hero Super Battle, but especially Karak and Quacks of Quedlinburg. With the last one he needs quite a bit of help and we never finish, because his attention span does not last past the forth round. But he loves the theme and always ends up playing with the ingredient chips, counting them and sorting by color. I like to think that my enthusiasm for the games resonates with him, and that - as he grows older - we can experience all kinds of games together. Well, a dad can dream... :)
Gangster dilemna has beautiful artwork on the cards, but not sure would suit my game group. Ive never seen Winter queen mentioned before, but think it would def be appealing as we tend to like abstract games. The crystals and board look beautiful. Dream crush has the best cover ever, but unlikely to be a game for my normal game group, although maybe perfect for a game night with my non-gamer mates.
I'm looking forward to receiving my copy of Radlands. Games started shipping here in the US last week, so it should be arriving soon. That "I was going to become a nun" statement flew right by....perhaps the topic for another video? : ) Really enjoyed this video....really fun games and IAQs! I remember in Japan, they got regular TV shows devoted just for GO where they discuss strategies etc. Speaking of Japan, they are big on Halloween there. Love going there in October and looking at all the deco and special confectionery. Whoa! You bought Ankh? Curious to hear your thoughts on it. I didn’t cos of space and when I heard about the part where the last two players become one, not something I think I would like. Finally played GuGong couple weeks ago, great game.
Another episode enjoyed, I did have a little giggle at the name of the place where the game Obsession is based. I was thinking I'm sure that's based in England then realised it was Derbyshire (it's a couple hours drive from me) and weirdly it pronounced more like Darbyshir (in a Northern accent anyway) I do think yours sounds way better for the game though x
Oh Maggie, when the remake of "the Trouble with Angels" comes out, I think you'd be a great Haley Mills. As a product of the Catholic elementary system, fond memories of Sister Margaret, whose punishment for misbehaving in class was to have the offender erase the chalkboard. She would then powder the hair of the offender with the dust laden eraser, to be worn as penance for the day. And I wonder why my parents thought I was going prematurely gray....Wonderful stuff today.

Lol the Amy bread crumbs. I am a notoriously messy person too but I like organization. so while I'm doing something it'll be like whatever im working on exploded all over the place (cooking or building things) but then I'll spend a bunch of time cleaning it and making it tidy later on haha
I'm a huge fan of 2 player only games, but for some reason Radlands isn't doing it for me. Maybe it's that is seems too fiddly, or maybe I'm just getting bored of the attacking theme's of most 2 player only games. Would you suggest I check it out? Dream Crush on the other hand, definitely going to be looking out for that.
Hmmm in that case then no Ki. It is so direct attacky that you might tire of it if you are already feeling bored of that type of game. Dream Crush is super fun! What are some of your favourite 2 player games?

I didn't realize I had done some playtesting with him in the past, so I'll be picking it up when I get a chance to give it a go.
