I first noticed the appeal in these small things, how they take shape under the tool, slowly forming the desired shapes, and as skills develop, so does the objective. It seems that these objects are made to be filmed in a cinematic way; it isn't the object itself; it's something more elemental. At some point, I began to find this beauty in practically anything; with the right music and filmed with the right approach; it would swell up and find its way quietly into my process. The object, the thing, the subject, it doesn't matter; it's the work that captivates us. I find myself seeking out the kind of entertainment that I hope you are as well right now. There is some educational content, but that's not the real point; the point is that we as humans have a deep-seated desire to create, in one way or another, and along with this desire, we quintessentially enjoy the process so much that we find great joy in watching others make practically anything. In this way, the hands are an extension of the mind, we watch someone build something, construct something creatively, as mundane as it may be, and we find the opportunity to look into the mind of the other, into the space we attempt to communicate so often, but for the most part, fail to achieve. Like music, this simple act provides a unique perspective into the mind of another, and I think that is our real passion, to speak the unspoken, communicate efficiently, free from words, and at a fundamental level. So while this video is not all that interesting from a creative aspect, I have tried to show my process in an interesting way that displays the art of working with one's hands, and perhaps a bit of insight into my mind, as cluttered and odd as it may be.
