I’m from Meridian, grew up there and moved away in 1983 when I was 16... thank you so much for the “tour”, as no matter how far you roam, there’s no place like home. As a young gal I spent countless hours in the woods exploring and horseback riding, hunting and fishing small lakes and ponds and I love seeing the terrain again... ❤️❤️❤️... again, thank you!!!
Thanks for these videos, Jom. I really look forward to these fascinating insights into American towns. I can’t help but notice how run down many of them are, which is quite sad to see. Greetings from Grafton NSW.
Hello. Enjoyed your video. Around the 20 minute mark, you show a road that has old trucks and school buses. I was wondering if you filmed all the way down that road to it’s end. Just curious. I know people that live on that road. Thank you for sharing your travels.
Hi Marty, thank you. I changed my video style a while ago, live narration and raw sound is the way to go I feel. Very genuine and gives everyone a perspective of what's really happening.
@@GravelCyclist Well, I wish more RU-vidrs would copy your style. I live in Melbourne, FL. I guess you live a few hours north??? Ever come down here, let me know. I also just bought a gravel bike that I need to break in! (BTW, my girlfriend lived in Australia for a while in a former life.)
Very interesting. If you go west on I-20 you might be interested in the Arcadia, Louisiana area. The memorial to the shootout of Bonny and Clyde is there as well as a museum and a lot of back country roads and interesting small towns.
That abandoned building in Hickory (possible town hall) was the Hickory High School, closed in 1991. I'm originally from Meridian and I really enjoyed that look around.
Great video! The dog parts in this video were funny, you handled them well. I like all the railway stuff in your video's, have you ever watched any of the the hobo you tuber video's?
Hi Bill...it was a sad day when Stobe the Hobo passed away :( I used to love his raw videos. He inspired me to change my style to include looking inside the small towns I ride through.
@@GravelCyclist very sad. I have just recently discovered his channel. That's cool he inspired you to do that. I also like Hobo Shoestring, and is it outonarail? I think I got that wrong.
In the works! Probably a couple more weeks... I have a few others in the queue ahead of it, it's all a matter of prioritization. Gravel Cyclist the YT channel, website and everything else is a side project for me. I also work a 40-hour a week job!
I can’t stress enough how much I hate peoples dogs whilst eon bike rides. As a Clydesdale, it is very difficult to outrun them. Without fail, they always chase whilst I’m riding uphills. I carry bear spray now Great video, I got some PTSD now😂
Hey James, I usually don't try and outrun, as you saw in this video. The two offending mutleys who I squawked at in the video, were among the most aggressive I've deal with in some time. Thankfully it ended well... :)
