I'm sorry for not listening to a word you said. I was too interested in watching the Small Prairie Tank Engine, and the LMS tender engine, running around. Your pair of 08 shunters are also welcome in my book, because they don't just haul a goods train sometimes, they also act as station pilot. I'm working on a project in progress, if you'd like an update from me. I call it Chuffing Around the Christmas Tree. The tree cable and track mains plug are in the sockets, the controller is connected and the track laid down and covered with sheets of A4 printing paper to keep the dust off. The engines and rolling stock have been tested, and are ready for their debut on the first Sunday in December. There's something else that's hidden in one of my storage rooms, which won't be seen till 1st December: the tree itself. Thanks for running GWR and LMS together, you made my day.
@@dragon-junction-MK2 I'm sorry, the 08 shunter doesn't fit in very well on my railway. I can't do any shunting or station pilot duty, because I don't have room for points or sidings for that sort of thing. An 08 shunter trundling slowly around the base of my Christmas tree would look good, I suppose, but it doesn't say Merry Christmas to me in the exciting way that a steam engine does. Yes, I do like the 08 shunter, he just doesn't fit in with my project in progress very well. An 0-4-0 Coca Cola tank engine does.
Well, Detective Allan, you have sorted out another villain and put the caper to rest. Nice work on the Dapol wheel and insulation... but another one is always lurking! lol Hopefully it is not a big hassle replacing the rail. Impressive running with the 08, too and just great to see the layout!
I see quite a lot of freight passes through Dragons Junction. I also admire your patients and attention to detail with the different shots. I will email you some homemade plum pie. as I dare say it must be quite busy managing Dragons Junction. A very enjoyable running session.
Thank you Kevin. New batteries Kevin..lol Yes the 08 is a fab little loco. i thought it would just sit there wheel spinning .But no she pulled it superbly.
Nice update ... 08’s (Gronks) great locos, worked on updating the braking system, and rebuilds, when I was a fitter in ICI Avenue Workshops, since them had a great like of them, and built a great collection, approx 20 different ones, sad really 🤔, awaiting the new Heljan Class 11, (more powerful and higher speed of 30mph),, and will be available in ICI colours.. Missed your live stream, was looking for your stream, not Roberts 🙄, Nice information on faults on wheels and frogs, well done that man, Expensive week for new turnouts .. 💷 x The Bigfella x ps ... No jokes and laughter this week ... get the joke box out .... 😄
Hiya Bigfella. ill have to get out more for a few laughs .and pass them on...lol.. Class 11 sounds great. And in ICI colours . Any way just have fun and enjoy the good weather .
You are quite right Allan about always fixing little things , I have replaced a couple of points lately due to derailing issues . Like working for Network Rail ............Peter
Glad i’m not the only one who accidentally deleted the wrong videos, compiling this weeks episode, i managed to delete EVERYTHING, thankfully it was still stored on the gimble memory, hope you’re keeping well mate, thanks for the update :)
Hi Allan, nice update and some good tips I do like the Gronks got a couple didn’t realise how powerful they are I’ll have to experiment thanks for sharing cheers the other lord Al
Useful to know about the Dapol wheel insulation issue. I'm thinking it must be a manufacturing error because I fit them to all my rolling stock and haven't had a problem so far. I'll be on the look out now though. Thanks for the heads up...
Hi Allan, So where to start are yes cheers for the super shoutout it was indeed a lot of fun, next the 08's very strong so Hornby or Bachmann ones and they are very low geared so that helps the Dapol wheels a design fault or quality control its not good enough if you had a lot of these to do as you did (40) then how many blades would be blunted doing this. Having to replace those points would £70 be a fair estimate of the cost so not cheap + time and effort changing them but well done for spotting it. Your wi-fi is now super so well done for getting that sorted and hopefully more live ones in future why don't you try Streamyard its not hard just getting used to it and remembering it after a time away and if you get another web cam and plug it in the computer you can switch between them but to have them on like Anthony does you need OBS. Always nice to see your trains running a super video well done. Cheers Robert.
Thank you so much for watching Robert . And as for live streaming all in good time. As for the wheels i did get them cheap so they may have been a poor batch. But a simple fix.
Can of worms when one problem reveals more, I`ve had a now dead computer do that. I`ve changed to a mesh system for wifi miles better than the old extenders.
Nice update your lordship. Who new the 08 could do that. See now what you meant by the Dapol wheel sets. Like you say always something to be done :) All the best speak to you soon Peter
Hello Peter .Yes the 08 surprized me i thought it would just wheel spin. But no spin. The thing with the wheels is as you do the back to backs it just pushes them further out.and makes it tight.
Hello Allan. Great video as always buddy. Not sure if you have tried the Accurascale Class 92's mate but I have a model of 92003 coming for my birthday next week and I looking forward to doing a static review of it. I am planning to have OO gauge again but mostly UK and Irish trains like before but just a few for now to keep me going and then once I have relocated to the United States. I am doing to make a massive layout for OO gauge and have a large N scale layout as well mate. I am super excited. Keep up the great work as well buddy. All the best Peter (Yes I use my middle name from now on)
Hi Ash .. Not really looked at a class 92 . it`s one of them trains that`s not really suited to my layout but all the same they are a lovely LOCO . So Peter your off to the USA .Very best of luck on your move and it all goes well for you . Just have fun building that big layout and it all plans out for you .
Hi Lord Ali thanks for sharing that info about Dapol wheel axles, just a thought would it be safer to hold the axle (wheel assembly) in `back to back` whilst cutting the excess plastic off. Take care and stay safe regards Barry..
Hi Allan Lord of the Bog hope youre well. Nice update mate if it isnt 1 fault its another 😂 been away for 3 weeks without wifi so catching up now. Catch you soon bud atb Andy
Cheers Andy . All ways good to hear from you . Yes WIFI can be a right pain when it goes wrong. Well catching up could take while .LOL.. Working on my 100th video not easy at all .Taking a look back at some good bits from the past to make a movie . How do you put 3 years work into 1 hour movie..LOL. So wish me luck and thank you for watching Andy..
I Fully agree with you Allen, The Hornby Class 08 are very well built, I bought a couple of R2417s and Sound chipped them and added directional lighting for good measure and I was truely amazed to see them pull 6 Mk1 coaches up a 4% gradient without batting an eyelid. No wheelspin at all.. Marvellous performance in comparison to some of the 4-6-0s I've got which all have tender pickup as well, I've had to add weights into them to improve traction and they just about make it up with three or four coaches. I've got a 61XX that Hornby put out last which is poorly in performance, got any advise on a replacement motor??? Cheers mate Have a good day.. Kind regards Michael.
Thank you Flyboy. Yes the 08`s are a great little power house of a loco. it surprized me how well it went. Not sure on the poor motor . you can try Peters spares or landon of cardiff . They are on the net.
So you're the reason the Dapol stand at Warley was sold out of wheels when I got there on the Sunday. All the way from Canada to get Dapol wheels and I came home without any.
@@dragon-junction-MK2 Hi Allan, those wheel sets were definitely on my list. I didn't think I'd have any trouble getting them but all they had left were the spoked ones. I really like the Dapol wheels they beat the Hornby ones in price and function. I have never had a problem with that little plastic collar in fact it keeps the wheel from rubbing on the bogie side frame which would cause even more friction. Right now I could use 28 of those axles just for my Inter City Mk 4's I recently got.
Hi Lord Al Interesting bit about the wheels, I have found the opposite. I have tried Hornby, Bachmann and Dapol wheels and the ones I have had the most problems with are the Bachmann as the pin points at the end of the axles are a bit shorter and stubbier than the others and tend to bind in the axle boxes of non Bachmann stock. The gronk was doing well with that train is it a Hornby or Bachmann? Cheers Rob
Thanks for watching Robin. The 08`s are both Bachmann . it seems that wheels are a bit hit and miss depends on the make of rolling stock and make of axles.. All a bit of trial and error . Stress who needs it...lol..
Hello Lord Al. I don't know why you're still using those nasty Insulfrog points. Replace them with Electrofrog points. No wearing down on the frog, and perfect electrical contact for locos when passing over them. I made the switch and I'll never look back. Cheers, Paul. 👍
Having insulfrogs saves me a shed load of wiring. Plus they act as switches for me.to insulate the sidings. . But thank you bringing the point up .sorry about the pun ..lol Thank you for watching Paul.
Hi Allan how many running hours is it taking before the points wear out ? Makes me wonder if in the future to replace worn out points with electrofrog points ? Your 08s are impressive and your house should be glowing with the WiFi signal now lol , see you In a live stream soon.
Hiya Brian. As for the frogs the points have been there about 5 years am guessing but what you have to remember is the length of trains i run . it`s a lot of wheels and weight crossing the points. So i would not worrie about wear and tear. Yes the 08`s were great i thought they would just sit there wheel spinning but no they pulled away no hassle And yes the WIFI is perfect. Thanks for watching Brian.
Hi ya Allan. I missed the live chat with you, Robert, Anthony, and Andy. It must be a sub issue with Robert. I will revisit that. Always a lot of little issues to deal with on a layout. In regards the 08. Would it ever be used like that? Or is it usually just a yard shunter/switcher? Thanks for the episode. See ya next time.
Thanks again for watching Norman. As for the 08`s am told they can pull up to 500 tons . They use them all over the place in depots and yards loading stone.
