Smallman Family Audio Recording From Christmas 1970 

This is an audio recording of my paternal grandfather, Ralph Smallman, interviewing his 98 year-old mother, Mary Smallman, during the holiday season in 1970. I have added some archival family photos to go along with the recording.
Mary Smallman (ne: Mary Wilhelmine Simon) was born May 23, 1872. She died in 1975, meaning she celebrated her 100th birthday which included receiving a birthday greeting from then president Richard Nixon.
In this recording, she talks about what Christmas was like when she was a child. The recording ends with her singing "Silent Night" in German, the way she learned the song from her mother.
