Smallville - Season 10 is Coming!
The Guinness Book of World Records honoree for the LONGEST RUNNING SCIENCE-FICTION TELEVISION SERIES EVER soars into it's 10th and final season on Friday, September 24th, 2010 on the CW Network at 8pm EST/7pm CST, with the episode "Lazarus."

@SuperGEM9 I googled it per your recommendation and found some articles. It seems to be because SG-1 only had 20 episodes per season the last couple of years while Smallville still has 22 per season. I guess I was a little confused from the wording as I thought it implied Smallville had already beaten SG-1 but this makes more sense since they will be tied in # of seasons by the end of both their runs. I think it's awesome that we have all these long running sci-fi series!

"Longest running science fiction television series" - wouldn't that be Stargate SG1 in the US? or perhaps Doctor Who in the UK? Maybe I'm mistaken but I remember a big commotion when SG reached it's tenth season... Anways, I'm psyched that we have one more season of Smallville!!

@spacexbutterfly It's because Smallville has 22 episodes per season and SG-1 only had 20 I think.

@cassopeia16 Yep, it looks like that's why. I googled it like SuperGem recommended and found out SG-1 only had 20 episodes per season its last 3 seasons.
