I've just got the cabriolet. It's great fun, especially with the roof down, now we have good weather! I really like the semi automatic gears, and it's soooo cheap on fuel! Only £30 tax too!
I believe that’s around when the new shape came into proposition, so likely they were making the lasts of the older shape & beginning production of the newer shape in one go.
Thank you for all those people for building my smart 4 two brabus, i am in love with my boy even after 3 months of meeting, cheers guys only bad part i cannot change my music from the steering wheel, i need to use the screen for that
We want the Mercedes Smart company that issued us in Egypt this beautiful old car Smart.. Fortow 2015.. design is much better than the new Altsam We want to spread and purchased in Egypt It's a wonderful shape and design I like very much economical car
Does anyone know if you are still able to remove the complete engine with subframe on the 453 like it was possible on the 451? This feature was really nice, as you could just lower the engine with a jack and some screws and service it at home.. A shame they do no build the 453 with a CDI engine.. :(
I can't answer your question but I just bought a 2008 Fortwo Passion 451. It's Great to know my car has such a neat feature considering everything is so hard to get to.
I own a Smart 2011. Its a bit worn own. It pays for itself even though its expensive to buy. I own a gas and fills up to below CAD$40 @ 33L. I drive it with avg mileage of 525Km. I happen to drive it with only 1L left on it! I wish I have a house so I can own a Smart EV to commute to work.
They are nice cars and fun to drive but if you live in the United States the parts are very expensive and service is also expensive so if you can't work on cars you won't like that part.. I live in Florida and the Top has a vinyl coating and the sun baked it until it peeled off !! you can't have another vinyl film put back on they have to remove the entire top and it's $1,000.00 for the part and installation !!! I would never buy another one.
never. The petrol version is long out of production (since 2019 I think), the EQ I think was never released abroad and the new #1 (which isn't a Smart anymore) isn't planned for sales in america or canada.
Such a modern and city focused design. Then a combustion engine starts up and suddenly you realise it's not modern at all. It's 19th Century same old, same old and in a compact package. I drove a smart for 7 years and loved it but seriously. Go full electric across the whole range.
You are just another naive person brainwashed to think that "electric=clean". Mining and processing of lithium creates very negative environmental impact. The electricity production is not free or environmental impact either. Disposal of used, highly toxic lithium batteries is another environmental problem. Electric cars do not solve the problems with ICE-powered cars, just create different ones. If you live in US look at the size of the cars on the road, the size of the engines in those cars and the number of people in those cars. In theory the amount of car-generated pollution could be cut nearly in half just by reducing the size of the engines and switching to smaller, lighter vehicles. There is no no real need for a 3-ton truck or SUV with 3-5L engine to carry one person to and from work. But all that weight requires energy to move it. Whether that energy is generated in clean nuclear power station then stored in on-board lithium battery or generated from gasoline by ICE is irrelevant. It is wasted energy no matter what. But tell Americans they should use less of anything and they flip and pull their guns to protect their freedom to waste as much of resources as they please.
Next time put in a telescoping steering wheel, the seat positions make that thing awkward if you go backwards at all. Otherwise I live with the design and like the rest of it
Make it full electric, with 200 miles range, under $7000, with 7 years of unlimited, bumper to bumper warranty, zero deductible, and I MIGHT buy one. Till then, "No Deal".
Why is the truck driver loading every 3rd or 4th car facing back? In fact, when the video showed him putting them on his trailer, he was backing up onto the ramp.
It does not seem to have solution for the smart cars I have been typing problems with heater blowing cold air on smart coupe city but I get different things ,I am sorry to say it is not organised
Could be any number of things. air in the cooling system, low on coolant, stuck thermostat, heater control linkage. Impossible to solve remotely needs hands on approach to solve and this is true of any car not just the Smart. Check coolant level first.
They had sooooo much time to make sure this model was right yet it only has a 4 star NCAP rating and that puts most buyers off straight away no matter how good the car is... It put me off, I bought a VW Up!
+Peter Veneziano brokeswagon?! who are they!? VW up won European Car Of The Year and reviews are great and sales strong whereas Smart has got mixed reviews and has not won any awards and are very unpopular and expensive ... no good making a great car if they do not sell!
+edward mercer The design concept for the company's automobiles began at Mercedes in the early 1970s and in the late 1980s, associated with Swatch. After a brief period of backing by Volkswagen, the first model was launched by Daimler-Benz in October 1998. Several variants on the original design have been introduced, with the original two-seater called the Fortwo, now in its third generation and available as an electric version. The brand name smart derives from its early cooperative studies with Swatch and Mercedes: Swatch Mercedes ART.[6] In its corporate branding, the company uses a lowercase logotype (i.e., smart) and a logo incorporating the letter "c" for "compact" and an arrow for "forward thinking".DaimlerChrysler confirmed that smart would be officially launched in the United States in the first quarter of 2008. The cars were offered through a dealership holding company Penske Automotive Group, which created a new U.S. dealership network for the brand under the name smart USA
Brendan Stewart Same car as the one in front, its just got the plastic front end moved down so they can fill up stuff with the windscreen fluid, and stuff like that.
