I think we all know this era of MPs have little or no interest in the old folks and their welfare or their contribution to this country. They are allowing the rewriting of history and destroying British traditions along with our culture. It will be as if we were never here. The future of this country is in foreign hands and it does not bode well for the indigenous population.

Most of my friends, relatives and work colleagues are either blissfully unaware of this new bill or simply don't care. My understanding is that for private owners, you either meet whatever energy band the govt decrees or face a £15K fine and / or prison. Whatever has happened to this once great country? I think we all know the answer to that one. WEF.

And looked at what the uk is registered as!! If it's the united kingdom of Great Britain, Great Britain is above the uk, hence businesses are applied to Great Britain not the uk!!! Hence they legally can break law, since it doesnt apply to them.....nor does it apply to the british islands as its neither a state nor corporation .... if we are the people of the british islands, how does uk ltd law apply other than by signed agreement.....it cant!

@@ChrisCarson I am aware, but if one doest understand legalese or such nonsense to baffle brains with out at least 2 or 3 years research wrapping their heads around ALL the aspects involved they will never know those kinds of solutions.....the system is not designed for average people to comprehend, it designed to fuk them over.....there comes a point where only an axe I the head or rope round necks, is the only way for most to make message of "go fuk yourself" clear enough for the shirts and ties to realise perhaps their job ain't worth it after all!!! Pre-privatisation we had reliable electricity and gas, We were energy-independent, no "markets" made money out of consumers, and we were not required to spend our savings generating our own electricity. Only in the UK can we have the government preparing the blackout schedules for winter while forcing us to buy electric vehicles. Mind-boggling!

@@icouldbewrongicouldberight Learn the difference between Law and legal, and stop living in fear. No judge will sign a court order for a meter unless there is an imminent risk to life. Electronic warrants are unLawful - you must be 'served' and have your own paper copy, signed by a judge, magistrate or justice of the peace, and backed by an affidavit. Energy companies breach the Law by showing you electronic warrants signed by an office clerk! A 'court order' that hasn't been anywhere near a court! and too many people are uneducated to know better - that's the only reason why they get away with it. It's not worth the paper, it's not written on! It's intimidation and gaslighting!

Jeff Taylor gave us this tragic information a few days ago. In a nutshell as far as smart meters go you will have one or they will force entry and fit one. But this bill goes much futher, your home will have to meet the minimum energy standards and your appliances will have to be compliant with an inbuilt chip. older appliances can be used with an adaptor. Where are we supposed to find the money for all of this? A lot of people are on the breadline now, if this bill goes through we realy are in deep trouble.

They have no right to enter your home . I will tell my energy company that if they can prove to me they are safe in all respects and will sign a contract to take all responsibility for any adverse events on my families health, fires and data collecting. Once they have done that to my satisfaction then I will accept one. Of course they would never do that but if they did I would place a Faraday cage around it and lead line my meter cupboard. And have it repositioned as far from my house as possible. If they don't trust me to send me readings in (which I always do) then that is their problem not mine.

Can anyone else remember when the government used to supply its citizens with gas and electricity? It was reliable, no "markets" made money out of consumers, we were energy-independent. Now we are encouraged to generate our own as the industry cannot cope with demand like it used to. Only in the UK could the government issue schedules for winter blackouts while forcing us towards buying electric vehicles. Did privatisation work?

None of what they are doing actually encourages low energy use. Energy companies could reward customers that use the least, but they do not. Instead they just intimidate and penalise non compliers. When these companies become tyrants I feel the need to bin them an find an alternative.

Force me to have a smart meter and they can disconnect me from the grid. I'll make do without mains electricity. Think 'camper van' and 'yachting' life styles with your own intermittent way of providing more power for the occasional heavy loads like washing machine etc. If I'm not on the main grid lots of this agenda fails.

Do not let them swap out your meters with a smart meter. Once they get that meter in they can charge higher rates during certain hours of the day. In California PG&E cranks up the rates between 4 pm and 9 pm. Rates have increased 90% in 3 years since they have no competition.

I think I have said here before ( I am in a housing association house) the meter belongs to the tenant. I phoned British gas about this, and they stated the meter belongs to the tenant, ( hence any fiddling with the anti tamper seals falls on the tenant even though there is no proof of who tampered with it) and as such, any smart meter fitted by force, can be retrofitted with an analogue dial version as long as it's been done by a gas safe/ corgi registered fitter. They can only fit smart meters under the gas safety regs 1950, for gas leaks etc. At court. Any meter they remove as long as it's safe, must be handed to the tenant or owner. Which you can refit when you see fit. There are many videos on the legality issues here on RU-vid, its easily circumnavigated if you look into it 👍🏻

I emailed the local company that installed my gas boiler asking if they could fit new analogue meters. They didn't want to know. I'm going to ask others. I hope they haven't been got at.

I think you will find, it is owned by the energy supplier an rented by you via the standing charge. You can install your own meter, but it has to be calibrated and certified by your supplier. The chances of them doing that? Zilch.

Which MPs have proposed this Bill and what kickbacks are they getting out of it? Do they have shares in the Energy providers or perhaps investments in the companies who produce these 'smart meters'? The government want this bill to go through as they have a pecuniary interest in the tax and VAT they collect from the supply of energy and the bills supplied to us the consumers. It's a filthy racket and it stinks. Definitely going off grid is the way to go if you can afford it. Wait until they force heat pumps on every house hold. At least in jail you won't have to pay an energy bill, or will you?

Yes this is law but it wouldn't stop the tw ats from trying to fit one.Its not happened to me after all this time but they keep trying to scare 'the occupier' 😅 into complying.I even had a letter from a DCA in red words threatening me to pay up. That went into the pile with all the other letters. It's a game of cat and mouse but my middle name is Tenacious 😄

A few years ago before I knew how bad it'd be, I allowed Swalec (South Wales Electricity) to fit a smart meter in my 400 year old house. They fitted one but it couldn't get a mobile signal (smart meters work through a sim card type of thing) so they put my old meter back in. They'd previously said that my old meter was too old and unsafe but the engineer said there was nothing wrong with it. I'm worried they might condemn my house when they start getting heavy 😮

Just get disconnected, I take it you have a wood burner, my mate had his gas disconnected so he doesn’t pay a penny, I got rid of my tv 3 weeks ago, cancelled sky and informed bbc I don’t need a license, if this is the way these bastards want it then they’ll get it😬 tv was only ever on in the background anyway 🙄 and I’m doing a lot more stuff, jobs around the house 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

They will make it a requirement that in order to sell or buy a house you will need a Smart meter fitted and they will do this through the EPC assessment. No Smart meter no sale. Property will become unsellable without one.

I have all the above, my energy bills have never been cheaper because I also have home storage and can choose use grid electricity when its at the cheapest and save/use it for when its at its most expensive. Im currently averaging around 7-8p per kW per day, I drive about 800 miles per month for a tenner, I warm my house on the cold days for less than a fiver (it usually costs me about £15 if I use gas).

Hi Andy, i am thinking that we need to create a Petition in Parliament to gain better debate and for the wider public to be aware. "Ministers want to grant themselves powers to create new criminal offences and increase civil penalties as part of efforts to hit net zero targets. Under the proposals, people who fall foul of regulations to reduce their energy consumption could face up to a year in prison and fines of up to £15,000". I thought that we lived in a democracy sadly not. Unfortunately 5 e-mail addresses are required to start a petition, so maybe you could get one started or send me something where I could start one.
