I don’t know the area, but $137k is pretty affordable for a house. Maybe you don’t mean in Austin proper? According to Zillow the average house price in Austin is almost $400k and rent is $1750 per month. See below. Perhaps you could find a fixer or a house in a bad neighborhood for what you’re quoting nowadays, but that’s about it. She is paying 1/3rd of that, for 1/3rd of the house. But that’s what she can afford, and it’s smart because she’s young and not going to be house poor. www.zillow.com/austin-tx/home-values/
@@TinyHouseGiantJourney I'm saying that the $60,000 is not the true cost of the house. Whenever I see someone talk about how much they bought a car or house for. They never talk about the true cost of it, after interest. I looked at houses for sale and for rent. You can get a house for around $140,000. And rent for $600-$800. And based on Google street view, it doesn't look like a bad neighborhood. But you can't really tell by that.
@@toreytrouart363 alright! Good for you. Your house is darling, the field and shed are huge amenities. You, Isaiah and your pup so rock! Best lives to you all.🏠🙏
With Ryan's ru-vid.comUgkxy_pn55PK60wAV3X_C_RoLS_67mNonoCE plan, I was like one taken by the hand and led step by step from start to finish. Thank you very much Ryan!
I really appreciate the prices and monthly/yearly expenses being put in. As a young person looking to build my own small house, it is helpful to see others around my age making it work.
Not sure how the math on the mortgage works? It would have to be a 0% interest loan. $60k - $5k = $55k $400 a month mortgage x 12 months x 12 years = $57,600. Maybe her mom bought it and she’s paying a 0% interest loan to her mom?
@@veggiebea Maybe or maybe she didn't give exact numbers. I think the big take away is there is an option to buy "tiny" and payoff sooner rather than in 30 years.
I really appreciate that she gave us figures with meaning. X amount lot rent, X amount mortgage, paid off in 12 years. That is fantastic to know and makes this seem a lot more attainable than "the build was 70k."

I think this is the first RV/tiny house park I've seen that gives a lot of space in between properties. I mean, I can't even see the next tiny house or RV! Lol. And what a bonus being able to have your own shed too! I hope other cities do this!
@@clairelivefreeordie2551 Totally! If history has taught us anything, it's that progressive movements progress slowly. So we all gotta be in this for the long game! 🙂
I'm 54 and admire this young woman and her smarts. I've been working to live for 37 years with little to show for it. I love everything about her home and the lot it is on. And I love Austin. Good for her and daisy. They have a beautiful life. I may start searching for my own tiny home. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love your tiny home & tiny dog. When you grow out of it, I’ve seen couples build another one, put them in an L formation and build a big deck between the two, especially when they have children. Then one can be bedrooms and the other kitchen/living.
When I was working in the Real Estate industry I was amazed at the mindset of the buyers who I would interact with. They would only just be starting out in their careers or Industry and yet insisted on buying a 4x2 house. They didn't even have children but wanted the biggest and the best. They invariably ended up having to sell out and downgrade. My first was a 1 bedroom unit with a courtyard. Couldn't seem to get through to them that they needed to start small... Sad.
Something to understand is the majority of cost savings from tiny living comes from all the long term cost savings that lifestyle promotes, which can add up to multiple times what the home cost to purchase over the years. Problem is people tend to get too focused on just the purchase cost of the home but really it's the long term costs that are the game changers. Mind, the average home owner is spending thousands on their home every year and here's an example of just some of those costs... www.zillow.com/blog/hidden-costs-178265/ Over time, the actual costs of home ownership of traditional homes add up to multiple times what the home cost to purchase but tiny living can reduce nearly all of those long term costs so the difference is actually much larger than just the purchase cost of the home in what people can potentially save. This is why, despite the cost of some of these homes, that people are still managing to go debt free in just a matter of a few years, and then all those savings can be directed to living their lives to the fullest. Even for those who rent, they're paying less for utilities and multiple other long term costs. Costs also vary, not all home will cost the same and not all locations will deal with the same issues or have the same cost of land, etc. But there's more than just the home to consider when figuring out how the changes will actually effect you...
Her house is very cool and location is superb! Having the entry + the benefits of rv park + shed + view all in a busy city is really as good as it can gets. Congrats to her!
Tiny Houses started becoming popular because they were cheap but they are getting more expensive by the day and now are out of reach for a lot of people. All good things come to an end....
Honestly though, they are cheap If you build it yourselves, labor yourself and buy reused parts, or find land from family or friends. But of course buying pre built will come with a premium because of convenience
Prices haven't really changed, just the reality that the prices aren't going to be the same for everyone because everyone is not doing it exactly the same... Some DIY, many go to a commercial builder, some can manage with a basic home but others need something more elaborate to meet their needs, some will live in them alone as a couple but others will include up to large families... There's just not going to be one price range for them all nor will the homes they get be all equal or equivalent... Really, it's like saying just because there are high priced cars, phones, computers, etc that you can't just go get a budget priced one... Just know what you're actually paying for because the choices aren't limited to just the size of the home...
So, I can't remember his name, but the guy who started the tiny home movement gave himself a challenge: design a $5,000 tiny home. HE DID IT in Sept 2019. So they should be available soon. Next, I want him to design a $5K house designed for wheelchair users :)
I've been into adding more colors to my living space and this channel is just giving me the best vibes. I really loved her home's style and decor!! It's inspired me to re-decorate my living room.
I agree it is too much , I think she bought it over priced. It would have been cheaper to get it built. I’ve been researching a lot and could of gotten a bigger tiny home for that price.
@Kimberly Devoz - Over priced depends what you get for it... Problem is you don't get the same things with every home. Locations gives different pros and cons like proximity to things like shopping areas, hospitals, jobs, schools, views, climate, weather, etc. Location also effects how much competition you'll deal with for resources, whether everything in the area is higher or lower costs, what the cost of the land will be, how much you'll pay in taxes, how much it will cost to hire a commercial builder, how much just material will cost, etc. In a high priced area, even an empty lot can cost a lot vs other area... While the home itself can be done at a very wide range from basic structure that will get you by but will need regular maintenance to keep going or it'll eventually fall apart vs a home built to handle just about anything, can last over 500 years, will require little maintenance, etc... Among many other reasons costs will vary... So it's not as simple as just looking at something because there's a lot that goes into costs and you have to know them to actually know whether something is worth it or not...
OutFreakingStanding! You should be the poster child for the simple, yet doable lifestyle of tiny living in the overpriced rental market of desirable cities. You have a real gem, both in your obviously cozy, simple, yet functional tiny home, as well as your choice in lot rental. I don't even know you, but I am so proud and impressed with your outlook of tiny living, as well as your power of manifestation. Well done sister!
Hands down this is my perfect house, obviously will make it the interior fit to me but, great outdoor place, doggie friendly. Love that. Plus the shed! Absolutely gorgeous. Dandy is so CUTEUH!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this tiny home. It's spectacular how she got it as is, and I'm down with her colors and decór. I just got this really nice vibe watching this video. Very beautiful 💗
This is the first video I have seen that gave great info about where to place the tiny home and the economics involved. It is a great idea for someone who doesn't want to build it themselves.
Actually, she can't stand fully upright in her loft. 5:57 I would consider adding a roof section that is higher but can be lowered for transport. Not my idea; a tiny house owner showed theirs on YT.
Boy she’s got the best of ALL worlds!! How opportunistic that she found a place she can LEASE!! Amazing!! I’m envious!! Although she didn’t build it to her specs, she’s got quite an awesome floor plan!! Great location also!! Thanks fir a great episode.
Hey Torey..Your home is really a happy place.the light, the windows, the light colour wood..the best to my taste so far.. hope it will be a happier place everr 🙋 I wish we could see more of it in detail..😔
This really is a lovely home. It has all the things one needs in a home (except maybe a washer/dryer?) & storage & looks comfortable. Enjoy your life in your home.
Great use of space in the home. I love the amount of light it gets, the kitchen looks so functional and the cozy living room looks roomy. The location and set up is a winner. Love the open yard. You’re little terrier looks so happy!
What a sweet home. Love the “plant” story she told. I too have plants that are from family members or family events. They are precious to me and she too has that. Thats awesome. I really like all her nick nacks. Love all the macrame. And that hanging star, so cool. Love it! She has a nice little piece of heaven right here on earth! Beautiful! ❤️💜💚
She has such a beautiful home and a smart investment. Starting your life making such a wonderful choice is indicative of a great future. Wishing her the best. Thank you or sharing
$950 a month!?!?! That’s still expensive! My mom and I have a spacious townhome with 1400+ square footage and we only pay $825! But then again, Austin TX might be way different with costs of living than Knoxville, TN where I’m from 🤷🏾♀️🤔
Curly Self-Taught Gymnast I have friends in Knoxville and they say it is very different! I did also want to invest in something that could change and move with my life
The stairs look like they could have effective pull out storage built underneath them to make it easier for two people to live together. (Clothes storage for him and other storage.) Looks like an opportunity was missed in the original build. You could still hang decoration off of it. Your home has a nice feel to it.
We would love to share this with our customers who bought vacant land from us and planning to live away from the city. They will surely get awesome ideas from your videos.
Thank you so much for noticing! We try really hard over here to produce quality over quantity, which is sort of what the tiny house movement is all about 🤗
I'd love to know where the couch is from. I have seen more and more built in benches and they look so uncomfortable, and I've always wanted a real couch in my tiny home.
V lovely home. I specially like ur sleeping loft as it has windows all sides n looks bright n awesome. God bless u with good health happiness n loooooooooong life.
Love this happy place, I am in Texas and looking, I would move to Austin, for this for sure!!! Are there any other homes for sale there? This is beautiful, best wishes to you and Daisy, what a cutie ❤
Gorgeous home!! I love the use of colour and the bedroom loft is great with the rail. I think Dandy is super cute and you can tell she loves the bedroom loft. :) Thanks for sharing your home with us.
