This game was made for Battlefield-sized maps. I can just imagine these Titans on Golmud Railway, Siege of Shanghai, Operation Whiteout, and so many other maps...
The game itself wasn't bad, it was just too much like the Call of Duty games that spawned it. I'll give Titanfall 2 just as much a chance as I gave the first one. I will not write it off until I've played it.
One can debate the cheapness of this gun until the chickens come home. It certainly engenders a feeling of helplessness to be gunned down by a weapon that self-aims; a certain terror and resentment at being killed not by the skill of your opponent, but by a weapon. But the fact remains that this gun is so utterly unlike others, it requires its own skillset to master it. Wallhanging to trap hostile pursuers, abusing Stim to the max to gain as much positioning advantage in a head-to-head fight, shooting down emplaced enemy explosives, or even dealing deadly destructive damage via detonating your own thrown grenades; the possibilities are endless. Alas, it is much maligned by those who use it, and by those it is pointed at; it is both too difficult to use effectively against other players where it matters most, and the times it does, the victims cry that it is cheap. It's either overpowered, or underpowered, with no happy medium. Which brings it to the ironic conclusion: the only ones who can effectively use it at every scenarios are the ones who are already skilled. It's a crutch gun for newbies, but it takes dedication to master it. In short, then, the Smart Pistol is only as smart as its wielder. tl;dr, the Smart Pistol is so overpowered that everyone uses the Carbine.
I miss this gun. It took as long to lock on as the starting rifle took to kill, so it wasn’t unbalanced. It really complimented the high mobility gameplay.
The Smart Pistol was a great idea but one that need more development. It role was a weapon that could be use while jumping and jetting (when aiming can be hard).
Even if I played Titanfall, I wouldn't think that the Smart Pistol is OP. Who would say that "Oh, if only they had the Carbine shooting at me, I would have lived through that 3 seconds that the smart pistol to lock on." This isn't a fast time to kill including the lock on time, which I don't understand as to why it's "overpowered and cheap."
It tracks around walls and through cover like bushes, so guy runs around a corner and hops up to latch to a wall if you can hop around quickly enough your lock is still maintained. Go behind bushes? Or on the flaming back of a mech where one would have to try and spot you? Nope, it knows you're there. Silencer has no effect on this weapons damage or range either, it has no damage drop off so it's unchanged with a silencer unlike every other gun in the game It's not broken, it's just irritating that while you have to look and aim and think, this thing just does the work for you, and can work around things like cover or shadows of buildings.
It would be overpowered if it shot through walls, I wouldn't care if it locked on through walls. Frankly, I would hate it more if someone killed me with that overpowered R-101C that should have lower range.
GunFuMaster I'm not saying it's brokenly OP but it tracks through things you can shoot through that would act as cover, bushes, shadows of buildings, fire on a mech, fire in general. So to every gun you are hidden, to this thing it knows you're there and without any kind of aiming you're shot dead, silently with no penalty. It's frustrating. Again it's not BROKEN, it's just something that is frustrating when you are blocked visually but this 1 gun gives total advantage to that guy. The R-101 is good, and probably should have something done to it ,likely make the suppressor less effective in a way because that gun is versitle enough without the ability to kill silently with the low cost of 1 extra bullet. It certainly makes it hard to want to use the LMG since while it's pretty okay, it's a lot harder to use than the 101 and when you fire it EVERYONE hears it on the map and it's very obvious.
Actually, I wouldn't mind the LMG getting a minimal damage buff. I think that the LMG should have at least something against infantry instead of constantly losing out, but I'm not asking for the COD Ghosts M27 IAR.
GunFuMaster It ...needs some kinda buff, because yeah it's strong, especially when you're riding a titan, but it's got so much kick it's not really easy to do squat with. Every gun outclasses it in every role minus that one thing. Nothing drastic to buff it but it kicks like mule, isn't great at range or close up. Besides destroying titans, I don't know what it's for
Whenever I see someone with a smart pistol, I always check their level, if they're new, alright, they probably just need a little boost, especially with this games poor matchmaking. However, if they're pretty experienced, I just swap to my smart pistol loadout (made specifically to counter people using the smart pistol). I honestly hate people who rely on an aimbot and claim to have skill. Same with people who use the radar pulse wallhack bs.
@@braedenbarr4047 Abusing poor decisions is exactly what the player's job is. If the smart pistol is meta, then use it. Here's the thing: It ain't good. If you want to make a mobility focused loadout, the smart pistol is a great choice when you have poor aim, but it's always going to be worse than an SMG. If you disagree, then use the smart pistol yourself. This is Titanfall, it's a *movement* shooter. This is not CoD, where the only 'skill" you need is aim and reaction time.
TY for saying dat I use the smart pistol and people often calls me noob, then I started using smg:s with the same playstyle and I stilled rekt'dem. Its just all about the movement :P
SooCrazy o_0 they always say to anyone using it they are a noob because it has lock on, but its a tactical weapon. Im getting really fed up with the hate and rage towards the gun.
there are also people like me who dont like traditional fps games. smart pistol does not feel like a standard fps to me, and its really fun trying to parkour and keep the target in sights
Αχιλλέας Αγγελόπουλος Haters gona hate this game is fucking dead on PC because of SPs... Last night there was only 200 players online globally. GLOBALLY!
TO EVERYONE SAYING IT'S CHEAP: how? It's low powered, it takes A few seconds and four shots to kill a pilot. That's plenty of time for said pilot to Turn around and take out the attacker with a better Weapon. If you are caught before you can Lock Enough shots on, you're reduced to Iron Sights on a Pistol that's probably weaker than your sidearm.
You are right but it so piss annoying when you get killed by it :( i blame the sound it makes as well as how underwhelming your death is. It should make the sound of a short bursting sci-fi mini gun and rip the head clean of a pilot or something
Lucas Cisterna Literally every non smart pistol weapon can counter it with either range or reaction time. The sp noobs are just addicted to how easy it is to use sot hey won't even try anything new.
to balance the smart pistol, players should be alerted when a smart pistol is locking on to them. "smart pistol locking detected" or something, giving you an oppurtunity to fight back rather than seemingly dying out of nowhere
I would think if something like this, in real life, would be more accurate at longer distance giving more time for bullet adjustment. Plus, if the tech can fit in a tiny pistol, it could fit in a rifle.
Excellent video as always, Stu! I love using the Smart Pistol towards the end of a generation (If I've managed to do all the requirements to move on already) since its the one gun I have the most fun exploring the more parkour aspects of Titanfall. I don't wall-hang or wall bounce that much when using the other weapons. It's the perfect weapon to give to someone who hasn't played the game and tell them to go "Have fun" killing things in Attrition. Of course, it's a lot scarier in the hands of someone well-knowledged. One of my favorite guns is next, can't wait to see what magic you create with it. :D
No mention of the frag-shots? I've found that detonating frag grenades early with the smart pistol is great, and it can also clear flagstands quickly, since it locks on to hostile satchels/mines, as well.
I don't like the fact that so many refers to the Smart Pistol as "struggling against pilots", because in that case you are all calling the PC players (at least) idiots. The Smart Pistol is by far the most overused and I would even go as far as say the most reliable in terms of damage output against minions and players alike on the PC version. And it is solely responsible for at least three fourths of my deaths in the game (About 6000 by now, with a KD of just over 3, just to give a reference), because of the number of players using it and its power. Yes, I find the pistol to be too strong and I generally believe that auto-aiming or anti-player lock on weapons do not belong in any multiplayer scene. I see multiplayer shooters as a game where you compete in gun handling, situational- and area awareness as well as strategy, where the top strategist or best marksman come out on top. This weapon handles all but the strategy part for the player, narrowing his workload to just moving around and pulling the trigger when locks are complete as the gun finds targets and removes the need to aim. I don't think it is fair to equally reward players who has their gun do most work for them, compared to players who actually work for their kills. Being pegged from across the map with a well aimed Carbine or Wingman, a glorious death, well deserved kill for my killer. Being pegged by a bunny rabbit jumping around while he/she just looks in my general direction.. grounds for frustration.
I agree with that its enoying with bunny hopping smart pistol users but I mostly when I get kills with it I come from behind and I could have done the same thing with a carbine or wadever :P
I 50/50 agree with this. 90% of people using it cant aim and just jump around. The other, 10% use it tactically with stealth and hardpoints. Like me. But we still get raged at all the same. -sigh- 😔
Agent ██ Problem is not how you use it. Problem is that it does most of the work related to online shooting for you and thus won't create a skill-based engagement. Online shooters should be about gun handling, area awareness and tactics/strategy. The Smart Pistol handles the gun handling and area awareness part without you, it only needs your finger to pull the trigger because it finds targets for you and removes the need to aim. Your tactical movement is the only thing you must do yourself. And that is why anti-player weapons never should be lock-ons or auto-aims.
45 degrees on the horizontal (and vertical) plane. IE if you spun around, once that would be 360 degrees. The gun cones out \/ and covers a 45 degree area.
Never understood why people keep calling it the noobgun. Every single other weapon outclass it. If you die from it from the front it's your own fault and from behind you would have died anyway. But it's an excellent weapon with the "thin the ranks" burn card.
So true, the amount of times somebody has expended 40 rounds from a Carbine at me, just to die from 3shots to the face, usually followed by a "noob" or "learn to play" is astounding.
Killer Orca how was it broken? Anyone even half capable could win against it. If your bad then sure, it was op, but it was just a fun weapon that was actually something original for a weapon in a genre where every game has the same weapons
"Anyone even half capable" Kek, I'm the guy who's dropped 20+ kills consistently in my Tf1 games and then suddenly I'm getting completely fucked over by a smart pistol with enhanced targeting, which locks on too fast and has too much range for the kind of weapon that it is the smart pistol, if it didn't have enhanced targeting, I'd agree isn't that bad at all in fact, but the fact that enhanced targeting makes it so that you basically have aimbot that no one can counter, including people who are good at the game, I'm sorry, but this gun was broken as all shit with enhanced targeting. The new smart pistol in Titanfall 2 isn't OP at all and it should stay that way.
I am really curious as to what losers dislike your videos. I can only imagine its the annoying channels like Ali a or that dumb T Mart kid that also puts similar videos up. Lmao. I could easily see them getting jealous that your video is much better in quality & info!
pretty much.....I'm not a big fan of how they just talk and talk and really its just like one of their regular shows they do....sure they show stats buts its really the same as their other shows
For those of you that are interested in the game, there's a free weekend going on starting Saturday, coinciding with the new (free) DLC. I highly suggest you check it out, especially if you enjoyed the first one.
You can still play Titanfall on Xbox X/S. The menu says a few thousand people still play on the weekends. EVERYONE who still plays uses the Smart Pistol. It’s OP and I can see why they mostly removed it in Titanfall 2
titanfall 2 will forever go down in history as one of the most disappointing games ever in terms of sales to quality ratios. the game is fantastic. the variety of guns and the freedom of movement is much better than awkwardly running across walls and yelling "YAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGHHHH" with your weapon raised. plus the story's awesome. get it. you won't regret it. about 20 bucks for standard edition and 40 bucks for extra skins. it's worth it. do it.
An idea could be while ADSing the pistol has increased damage or something and have some kind of body segment targeting when autolocking that would lessen the issues that people have with this weapon. Even keep the lock on but it activates when ADSing only.
3:29 That guy down the hall had ample time to kill him yet he didn't fire a single shot. I do hate the smart pistol but damn, if there was anyone in that engagement with no skill, it was the guy down the hall.
Ah this bullshit... I remember I quit playing the game altogether because of the increasing amount of noobs playing SP PS: This channel is amazing, today I discovered it - quality stuff on RU-vid may yet be a thing it seems.
A noob with a smartgun stays a noob. If you whine about smartgun, it is perhaps because you are a noob among noobs. So play with smartgun to know how it works, continue to train and you will be capable to play against smartgun users. And try to understand that if you only run like a chicken without head in open areas, it is not surprising if smartgun users have no difficulties to kill you.
The game is mostly about manuvering, not gunplay, if you can dodge the lockon you can easily kill a smartgun user Similarly, smartgun users usually adapt to manuvering before gunplay, and even the playing field with veterans of fps that can kill faster than it can lock on
Greetings Mr Brown, I understand Ultimate Weapon was just a one off April Fools video, but have you got any plans or even thought about bringing it back as a Bi Weekly series in conjunction with Iconic Arms? I think it would be awesome to see the Icons of Game Weaponry and Real Life Weaponry
nobody has noticed his mistake? Between 370 to 800 milliseconds for it to lock on to pilots, that means about 3 to 8 seconds, if you are getting killed by it, you are doing it wrong.(37 to 80 milliseconds is the actual time)
Being green 10 50 on both consoles for some time now, never using smart pistol except for challenges, it is not over powered. Unless it is used by a very good pilot, I hardly ever get beat by it and forget is even in the Gane at times.
Damm, it is so enjoyable to watch and hear this it sounds so professional. Like I am listening to a scientist talking about the cure to cancer or something :P Awesome.
People are really complaining about this weapon, you should understand that this particular gun is unique and requires particular skill to use it. You cannot simply play with the same style you are playing with assault rifle while having this weapon and expect the same result, that is INSANE!
maikkeli What are you talking about? He's already done a complete series on all the primary weapons in Ghosts.. Stu's main focus now is completing the TitanFall series, then it's on to "A Brief History of Piracy" and then a short run of "Iconic Arms".
