What is the added value of creating flowpaths with a quest when you are still painting on a flat surface....other that that it looks cool?? :-)

It creates the geometry for the effects to flow on in Nuke. Tilt brush can make uv mapped geo based on your brush strokes. There’s no easy way to bend textures on splines in nuke, and gridwarping or splinewarping doesn’t work great when there’s a lot of curvature. The only other way to do this is manually extrude cards and then re-map the uvs in a 3d software which is painfully slow especially if you have a lot of them! So this is more or less just a solution to create those geometries easily, it just happens that a VR app does what I needed.

Occulus eh? So you can draw those and just export those generated effects and layer on top of the video? Or is this a final export only? Looks nice.

Sort of! You can't directly get most of the effects out of Tilt brush, but the geometry you can. The geometry comes out in a normalized 0-1 UV space, stretched to the length of the "card" or your brush stroke. Then, you can stick textures on in Nuke and make them "flow" across it !

I've found it to be especially helpful when you're explaining a new technique and illustrate it with a simplified demo instead of adding it straight to the main script.
