Sorry didnt' mean to be lame. Just a bit let down by the jerkyness of different exposé like apps I've tried. I read up on it and it turns out all exposé like apps for vista utilize the thumbnail api. This API wasn't meant for this and has huge problems with transform matrixes and general 3d work. Flip3D is smooth because it uses undocumented features in DWM.exe.
Looking good.... I'm impressed - BUT... Compiz for Linux pwns this hands down when it comes to the 3D desktop and effects. Not only do you get a cube, but a sphere, and plenty of effects with it such as Dissolve, Fade, Flame, and Rain. But there is one catch - it can only be run on Linux, such as Ubuntu, Debian, or Suse. It does not run on Windows BTW - most Linux flavors are free !!
And no, all window operations are NOT done by the GPU in Vista, just see how much CPU use during creation of thumbnails and resizing of IE Windows. OSX Tiger does though,. see arstechnica article
