Category tip for next year: BEST PHONE THAT STILL HOLDING UP. The phone from the previous year that still a excellent deal in terms of features, performance and price. Great video as always
@@balanibakits6488 s10 is a good shout. From my personal experience over here in brazil that is a less economic powerfull country i would say the S20FE still a hell of a purchase.
OnePlus went from winning MVP twice in a row to not even being uttered in passing all throughout a 25 minute video. Would love to have conversation on where OnePlus is right now vs where we would want them to be.
I feel like getting into the “Pro” category with an insane price point and not being able to live up to the competition really took a toll on one plus.
One plus was good when they made flagship phones at a reasonable price, preferring the newer ones over phones like S21 Ultra and iPhone 13 Pro (even the op9 pro is slightly cheaper) is just stupid
Can't imagine that the word OnePlus wasn't said even once in the entire video this year, despite being an MVP in the past... They really could have been an honorable mention in the "Bust of The Year" Category.
@@ST-oh6zw nah OnePlus used to do good stuff. They were flagships at budget price with pretty much nothing to lose, maybe cameras were slightly better on your Samsung and apple but they were like not by much for a $300 difference. They made those phones look over priced they had some features to defrenciate themselves too. Now they are flagships with the price but worse. So it's like why talk about em. They are the overpriced ones now
@@mikerzisu9508 they dominated LG, yeah. HTC got bullied out of the market via litigation, and apple destroyed blackberry years before samsung made their first Galaxy S.
I wouldn't say that it doesn't offer utility. It offers the same one for a phone with that range. And...it folds which is so much fun. Seriously , I feel like a kid with it.
While it might be a fun gimmick for a lot of guys, if you are a woman with women's clothing flip style foldables absolutely have massive & MASSIVE amounts of utility! 🤷 A device that lets you go from having to carry around a purse to keep your phone in, to being able to comfortably fit it in all of your pockets is an absolute GAME CHANGER for the right kind of customer!!! It's literally the difference between "I can comfortably fit my phone in my jean's pocket." and "My phone won't fit in my pocket at all, let ALONE comfortably!". (I'm not personally a woman, just know PLENTY of them w/ Flip's & RAZR's whom would NEVER, EVER go back to a normal, non-folding phone at this point.)
@@Cooe. 100% makes sense. As a guy that may not be the biggest concern for me but for sure I can see it solving a problem for women. appreciate your added context
I love the fact that OnePlus didn't get any award considering it won "Phone of the Year" for 2 straight consecutive year, speaks volumes about the decline of the company.
Im still rocking my 7 Pro because everything else releases with a Punchhole or Notch... A crack takes away less than any notch or punchhole, yet we replace our screens as soon as possible
I have the 7 pro, and that's the last OnePlus phone I will ever buy because of the crazy price. Would honestly rather go for an already established company that I can rely on than one that kind of "betrays" it customers
Feels very nice to see Samsung win the MVP award. They've been doing a lot for the industry. And you're right, it probably has the most sleek design I've ever seen in a smartphone, especially with that matte black colour 🔥
I gotta agree with the final results. Samsung really stepped their game up and the fact that the S21 Ultra came out so early and is still one of the best is testament
Agreed! Also it's hilarious when some people say "Well this phone is better than the S21 Ultra" - It's literally an 11-month old phone, the fact that they're comparing a recent phone (usually the iPhone 13 series which came out 8 months after the S21 Ultra) to it means that the S21 Ultra is just that good even now.
@@EojinsReviews yep it'd actually be fair to compare the S22 series with the Pixel6 and iPhone13. Because they're more closer to each other. Then we'll see how big is the difference.
OnePlus was always present in the last couple of awards even having OP7Pro winning phone of the year for 2019. Sadly, they didn't even get a mention this time which shows the direction that they have gone lately.
The OnePlus is really solid, up there in every category, just not quite at the very top If there was an award for interface I'd give it to oxygen OS. Charging speed as well And if there was a performance award it could win or at worst be an honorable mention. The S21 Ultra, iPhone 13 Pro, and Pixel 6 were definitely the phones of the year though.
Yeh, I am a One+ driver now and I hate it often times. Makes sense it doesn't get any awards, it was a company that used to punch up, now it punches down. I don't think I'll ever buy another.
The production of these award videos is so plain. Still the same old boring setup behind the table. Not much B-roll. Almost no sound. No presentation or excitement. Is it going to be the exact same video next year, just different results?
@@nobirojan00 Lol ur hi the only trash thing it has is the AI, but you can just install the google assistant app instead. The charging speed, battery life, and design is better than almost every phone including the iphone 13.
@@nobirojan00 the charging speed is fine, battery life is good, what phone doesn’t have table wobble? Also just use google assistant instead of Bixby lol
I'm glad the Z Flip 3 got a couple mentions! It's my first phone that isn't a budget phone (and my third smartphone ever) so while I don't have much to compare it to, I'm absolutely in love with it. I got it mainly for the flipping gimmick, but the great looks, small-yet-large form factor, and some nice specs make it a joy to use. I don't think I'll ever buy another phone that doesn't fold anymore.
Samsung absolutely nailed it with the s21 ultra. It is a jack of all trades, and been my favorite phone. Love it very much. If Samsung can improve on the s21 ultra with the s22 ultra, that would be insanely great.
I really wanted to love it but Samsung being Samsung made it just not fun to use. I got the s21 ultra 512gb on pre-sale and it cost me 2k on a 24 month contract. I got the buds pro in the bundle and returned them after 2 days. Got the Galaxy watch active 2 and returned it. I want a consistent and complete ecosystem and was about to go to Apple but then Google had the 6 and I got the 6 pro and it's by far the best, most fun phone to use since my first iPhone 3G.
I would definitely like to see “old phones that are still worth it” and based on that your educated guesses on which current phones people should buy if they only replace them every 4-10 years.
In today's world 4 years is a stretch. You're lucky if any providers outside of apple and Google are still releasing security patches for phones any older. I've just bought a pixel 6 Pro coming from a galaxy s8 and I've been running custom ROMs to keep it going and it's pretty well dead in the water now even though the hardware is still more than capable.
OnePlus should have been an honourable mention in "bust of the year" award, they released so much crap this year The OnePlus 9R was unnecessary, they could have just put the 870 in the 9 and kept it's pricing close to the 9R. Then the Nord 2 would have made more sense at its price point, and they could have put in a 120hz display with a smaller bezel, while the rest of the package remains same, and pricing it a bit higher. The Nord CE was completely unnecessary and it wasn't unique at all, not to mention it didn't even get the alert slider, a standard in OnePlus phones till now. I don't think they could have sold many units too. Sad to see OnePlus dip so much, they used to be mentioned almost every year as an MVP, but this year not a single mention was made, and i kind of agree with that sentiment. Edit: their updates also went downhill for all phones this year
Bruh, unnecessary doesn't mean bust. The 9R was incredibly popular in India. The Nord CE was not necessary for a lot of people but it still wasn't a bad phone, especially the battery life.
@@K.R.X They all are good phones for the price especially 9RT. Their price is only 50-100 USD higher than equivalent Xiaomi phones. At least they gave an option for people who don't like MIUI for whatever reasons.
As a G1 and Nexus 1 owner... I've always had a love for a good Google phone... My first Pixel experience was the 3a XL and I loved it till this day... Bought a Pixel 6 .... 💚.
While a really cool looking phone, the HTC made Nexus 1 was the definition of a "mixed bag". 🤷 While the price was absolutely INCREDIBLE for an off-contract full-fat smartphone in that era, the lack of full multi-touch for most of its core relevant lifespan (caused by legal battles w/ Apple reasons) was a MASSIVE problem, its RGBG PenTile OLED had absolutely AWFUL text clarity, and the Android Market was in an absolutely DIRE STATE vs the Apple App Store at that moment in time. IMO, it really wasn't until Gingerbread/Samsung's Nexus S and ESPECIALLY the Galaxy SII (aka 2011) where Android REALLY came into its own as a legit competitor to Apple's iPhone/iOS (then called iPhone OS). Prior to that landmark moment in tech history though (aka the very first time people & reviewers were legitimately claiming that an Android was "currently the world's best phone"), the only reason to buy one was if your carrier literally didn't support the iPhone 3G/3GS yet. Ala Verizon and the hugely successful Motorola Droid (Android 2.0's launch device). Once the gorgeous & than lightning fast Galaxy SII landed though & the iPhone 4 officially went CDMA, things got a LOOOOT more complicated!
The fact how everyone was eagerly waiting for this video shows how good Marques is with what he does. Great video! Loved pixel 6 shoutouts and award as a pixel 6 owner :))
I can agree with that. The S21 Ultra really is almost a year old and still feels like the overall blueprint for an android flagship so that's impressive considering I literally forget about the s20 line and picture the S10 when trying to remember last year.
I bought an S10 at half price because the box was open but the phone was never used. Honestly the best smartphone purchase you could make for that price. Only underwhelming thing is the camera
@@jordanissport that's great for you! I'm a photographer and have been quite disappointed by the phone's camera. I'm not saying it's bad, just underwhelming for a flagship. I love the phone though
@@jordanissport I mean it's alright but one thing I could say for sure is that it's trash in low light situations, like the amount of noise it makes in dim places is annoying even the previous galaxy note 9 I have a way better low light camera and take pictures with less noise, front and back camera
I’m in a unique position where I have to use an S 21 Ultra for work all day and my personal phone is a 1 TB iPhone 13 pro max and I’m here to tell you you can’t go wrong with either one. The S 21 is incredible and the 13 pro max with it’s integrated software and cameras and incredible battery life is virtually unbeatable. It really does come down to subjectivity. The S 21 Ultra absolutely deserves the MVP award. 🏆
same. Samsung personal, iPhone work. i dont personally like iPhones or Apple, but one thing I give them credit for is Battery. If i dont use my iPhone, it will legit last a week+ before it needs a charge, my Samsung might last a couple days at best.
I'm in a Unique position to where I just bought the S21 Ultra a few days ago but I have 2 weeks to decide if I want to keep it or swap it out for the iPhone 13 Promax....... I've honestly never have felt so confused about wich to go with.... at this point I think I'll just have to flip a coin. Because it's like choosing between two girls who are 10/10 and just have to pick the one with perfect boobs or the one with a perfect butt...... you are a lucky man to have both and not have to choose.
@@grey5135 if I could give you one piece of advice I would go with the one that you like the operating system for the best. Personally that’s what edges out the S 21 ultra for me. The iOS for iPhone combined with the incredible 13 promax wins out for me.
i find it funny how often i just come back to this channel Marques is just a very easy-going dude with that funny side that peeks through and he's just factual big appreciation for you and your contribution to the community of phones and tech ♥
I can honestly say I think all of the awards this year were pretty fair. As an Android fan, I do have to give it up to the iPhone 13 Pro/Max this year with their battery and cam improvements. But I bought the S21 Ultra almost exclusively from the raving reviews from the entire tech world and I have zero regrets. I love basically everything about my phone and if the Pixel 6 Pro could just improve battery life a little bit, I will consider the Pixel 7 Pro (if it exists in a similar high-end space next year) for my next phone! Great awards this year MKBHD!
I have no problem with my Pixel 6 pro battery. Its 15% larger than the iPhone and I turn off the advanced refresh rates. I use it often and I charge every 2 days. Never been below 25% even. At over 5000mAh size, I don't understand how it doesn't get more recognition
@@TheAlphapuck5280 @Alpha Puck well it's good to hear from someone daily driving it that it's serving their purposes. I watched all the reviews when it came out and reviewers unanimously bashed the battery life. I had a pixel 2 that I loved, but battery life wasn't amazing on it compared to my past phones. MKBHD said in his own review that iPhone 13 Pro got like 8 hours of screen on time and the pixel 6 pro with a bigger battery got 3.5-4.5 hours of screen on time. It's not unusable by any means, but phone battery is a huge consideration, and I'd hate to disable high refresh on the screen to make to the end of the day. My S21 Ultra always makes it to the end of the day even on 12 hour shift days with high refresh on.
I'm planning to root mine and get a charge limiting app. My S10's battery has gotten pretty abysmal after a while. I looked at CPU-Z's voltage readings and both show an excess of 4.4v fully charged. That's way overcharged for a lithium cell in my book, so taking a small hit to capacity could have huge gains in longevity. But then again, I use my phones for 2+ years.
@@TheAlphapuck5280 I would say bigger issue is quite poor signal, but other than that I think it's pretty good. Maybe battery could last longer, but I can't complain as I have literally EVERY smart feature enabled on that phone and still charge it every second day
What a great year for phones! The S21 ultra at the top of its game, the fold and flip making big improvements, Pixel 6 turned out great especially for the price, and the whole iPhone 13 lineup was super solid.
The S21 definitely deserved that MVP award and it's really happy to see Pixel 6 as the best value award. Recommended the Pixel 6 to a few folks that don't spend that much money on a phone and so far they love it.
Honestly starting to love the new Google Pixel look. It really stands out on that table, and not in a way that's different just for the sake of it. It looks good
I'm glad people love the new pixel, I'm a die hard pixel fan but the pixel 6's jutted out camera turned me off to upgrading. The front super durable but I always break the back glass 😭
My 6 pro hasn't been the revolution I hoped it would be. Camera isn't that great, finger print sensor is so slow that it's often just as fast to use your pin, this phone also feels like it's coated in Teflon, and battery life isn't bad but charging is miserably slow. The hefty price tag didn't help it either.
I think the Pixel 6 should've been the winner for "The Most Improved Award". The improvements between the Pixel 5 and 6 were way larger than ones between S20 Ultra and S21 Ultra ever were. At the very least, it deserved an honorable mention.
I'd agree with honorable mention. My friend bought the s20 ultra 4 months before they announced the 21 ultra. Literally everything he complained about using the phone was fixed in the s21 ultra. I got the s20 plus because i heard the plus was the best buy. The pixel 6 is light-years away from the 5 in terms of what it can do. But there was nothing truly wrong with the 5.
I'm sure what he means by "most improved" has to do with the iterative upgrades and overall refinement of what was released last year, instead of overhaul design and spec change( which the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro did well this year)
@@wisdomyaw03 why would an overhaul in design mean it shouldn’t be considered for the “most improved”? S20 Ultra to the S21 Ultra was just camera tweaks to fix the cameras. While the Pixel 6 is a complete rebound for the series. I don’t think a spec change with their own processor and a design change with the cameras should exclude it. That honestly should be expected for improving a phone that needed so many improvements. One could say the S20 didn’t need that much improvements. Just needed the camera imperfections to be fixed
Congratulations again to Samsung for bagging the best phone award again and again. To think that the S21 came out so early in the year and still win among the several others that came afterwards tells this is indeed a masterpiece. Based on my own opinion, I found myself mentioning the winners and honorable mentions before you mentioned them, that tells how genuine this feels for me (and for several others watching), well done MKBHD!
@@bdfwhhsb Honestly it still is a strong contender for the reasons you've mentioned. I think it bores down to the android-iOS debacle and this shows that despite Apple having such great devices and a tight ecosystem the versatility of android offers a more satisfying experience on a single device.
@KNAX_NO4H Funny fact about the tech world I've learnt is that the best technically isn't always the preferred in reality. Can anyone provide details of which has sold more units between the SG S21U and the 13PM? Those numbers might just tell a different story.
@KNAX_NO4H You obviously support that the 13PM deserves this award, so I guess the bottom line is that the subjectivity to choosing the 'best' smartphone is beyond just the technical functionality alone. The sales stats supports my speculations too in that the higher sales might depict the better of the 2 devices but we're in agreement that this has nothing to do with sales of the products.
Got the S21 Ultra this year and have been more impressed with it than almost any other phone I've ever purchased. The only phone in memory I could recall being as game changing is the Galaxy Note 2. Spot on with your recommendations. iPhone is looking g more and more appealing.
Ikr.. iPhone has improved a lot once they switch to 30+ watt charging it's gonna change our perspective a lot as everything is as good or even better than other android smartphones.
Yes but iPhone is so uncomfortable to hold on hand.. i mean this new 13 pro max was giving me a feeling like its cutting my hand.. its a good phone though
I agree. It has lasted really well and has really great support. I give it an extra plus with the fold case that it has with the s pen, which has been a really good experience so far.
I'm a Samsung fan boy, but I've never imagine a phone that came right at the beginin of the year can beat all the phones came almost a year after. Galaxy S21 Ultra well done👏🏾
I don’t think it beat all the phones, it was just ahead of its time and most of the android competition can’t catch up to that 10x zoom😅 That’s what makes it so good
Thank you MKBHD for remembering LG.. I am an LG fan boy and will always be.. Have used LG since their LG Optimus 3D phones from 2011 till the LG G8X till date. Honorable mentions are the LG Optimus 3Dmax ,G4, G5, v30.. LG has always amazed me and others around me with their innovations which were either ahead of times or sometimes a marketing failure. But i have always had the best value for money flagships in my hand each year for over a decade now. I was always happy with the UI and camera. Life was Good.. Hoping they will come back one day..✌️
The amazing part about 2021 was the fact that almost every major smartphone, budget and high-end, was impressive. Almost anyone who bought a new phone this year, besides Surface phone owners, are the winners here. 💪🔥👍
This proves that Apple and Samsung are the reigning kings of best Smartphone Experience. Kudos to Google for coming out with great phones this year as well! And Marques - no mention of OnePlus at all this time is a first!
yall are young, my first phone was a kyocera or nokia dumb phone with a crappy non color screen and snake game was its best offering.. then i got a nextel chirp phone for work... those were the days... lol
I've been interested in pure Androind phones since Google started releasing them and only now noticed a good characteristics on Pixel 6s. I'm also glad that it took an award and was mentioned several times. I think I'll move to Pixel 6 from my good old Galaxy s8 and hopefully see some other really nice MVP phones when I decide to renew my phone.
@@liteknight Yeah, 5 months now. Initially I was happy, camera good, battery ok, performance decent. My only issues were some of the apps that need tweaking or they just need to work better. Built-in YT music player pushes you to buy YT premium every chance it gets and when I try ti play music from my memory playlist it sometimes just doesn't play the music and I have to restart my phone. Recently I began noticing overheating during the heatwave, I was on video call and for quite long time it was so hot that I had to put it down next to a fan because it shut down my wifi so the phone couldn't overheat. Also, the fingerprint scan does not work as fast and has sometimes trouble detecting even if you put your finger in slight angle. I think the main issues comes from Google being unable to provide as good apps or optimisation as Samsung does. I used to use Galaxy S8 before for 5 years, and with this phone I'm not sure I'll stick to it for 5 years. Unless Google starts making some needed improvements to their system.
I also currently have the soldier of a phone, the s8 and also considering buying the pixel 6. Did you buy it? Can you recommend it? I hear it has some bug problems.
Honestly Samsung deserves it. One year later and S21 Ultra's hardware and camera still able to compete with others or even beat them in some territories.
At least there is someone giving the S21U the respect it deserves. Other people underestimate this phone way too much, it was released in January and it's still one of the best phones you can buy (probably best all-around Android phone available).

This definitely although no offense to marques he might not be fully aware of everything, not to say he doesnt know but he's not an "expert" as he is more with the other categories
It's honestly really impressive how the S21 Ultra just set the bar right at the beginning of the year, and was the phone to beat for the whole time. I got a Pixel 6 Pro myself for the software experience and the cameras (prefer the Pixel look), but it was a really hard choice between it and the S21U. It's deserving of every award it got.
I would love having the s21 ultra but the pixel software and camera software as well, I don't like the oversharpened looks samsung has, but the hardware is insane!
@@MarkkG thats weird, no lag on my s20 ultra, well of course here and there you have some dropped frames but even on iPhones I have had that. I just want pixel camera software with samsungs hardware. But tbh the pixel 6 pro looks very good overall.
I also can't believe how almost a year old phone (the S21 Ultra) is still the bar for comparison with phones that came out in the last couple of months of 2021. I got the Ultra in the summer (the Exynos version since I live in Europe, absolutely no problems with it till now, it performs great) and it was an amazing experience. Not sure how Samsung will manage to top that with the S22 Ultra. Great video as always Marques!
A little bit improvement on the video, efficiency for battery improvements and plus (a great deal for my point of view as I am a big fan and from the first Note, a user, that bravely faced with the mockery about how big was first Note :) -and then everybody gathered around), S-Pen. I'm actually canceled all my plans for others and waiting for the Ultra. Or Note, shall we say? :)
I really would have like to see "Best Business Phone" award. Or even something like "Best All Wireless Connections Phone". I mention these because I like flagship phones but I don't care at all about cameras, colors the phone comes in, or cameras. I just want an awesome phone with great specs that has great connectivity. Like great wifi, BT, cellular signal reception. Those kinds of things. The things that matter in my opinion. These phones don't seem to phones anymore. They are cameras that make phone calls and can browse the web. When are we going to have a breakthrough in updates to the phone and its connectivity? That is what I want. I am waiting for the day when one of the major manufactures announces a new phone with something like: -Won't shatter the screen if you drop it -Doesn't drop calls -Sturdy and grippy enough that you don't need to buy 15 different cases -Software stable enough that resets are not needed -Solar panel under the screen to help with battery longevity (Like Citizen Eco-Drive) When are we going to get features like this?
I am a big android fan, dislike apple but getting an iPhone SE tommorow because I miss having am apple device for jailbreaking and some iOS apps ya know! I like the matte black finish on the S21 but the camera does look a bit wacky imo

Honestly Samsung deserve it so much this year : Their S21 Ultra is still a standard to be compared with, being still able to compete with others almost a year later. Their Foldable lineups are really getting attractive and the Z Flip 3 is considered to be selling like hot cakes at its scale. Plus they're really pushing innovation with water resistance, glass, and Spen compatibility. AND they're truly setting a trend when we see a lot of MAJOR brands are launching/will launch their copy of Z Fold and Z Flip phones...
I used to own a S20+ until recently, great phone but after 1 year 8 months of usage, the green screen started to occur. Not only for my phone but to all my friends and family who had the s20 series and I was pissed. Changed to the iPhone 13 recently and enjoyed it a lot but I still miss the Samsung phones I’ve been using all these years… If only the S20 series wasn’t this shit, I would’ve waited and gotten the S22 series…
Samsung has really been doing a great job at listening to it’s customers, or at least to MKBHD, on what their improvements should be, to the point of making the S21Ultra the MKBHD phone by excellence (not saying the awards were biased). They didn’t take 2 or 3 years like Apple did to improve their phones, to add the features everyone is talking about (talking mostly about the refresh rate), and with Samsung, who has more than 1 flagship phone, this actually transcends to all of their line up. They might be expensive, but they are actually listening. I really think you did a great job with these awards, and have a great criteria for judging. I wouldn’t go to any other techtuber for these kind of awards.
As someone who owns the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, knowing how much recognition this phone got really made me proud of my choice. Last year I owned an iPhone and since 2008 have always been with Apple, so I was looking for a phone to easily transition away from Apple. Originally I was going to buy the OnePlus 9 Pro because of how well the 8 Pro was well received but after hearing the meh reviews when it dropped I had to sit on it for a few days and that's when I decided to go get S21 Ultra. One of The Best Decision I Made This Year, I love this phone so much and there are so many great features with it. In fact, I am writing this comment on my S21 Ultra! Definitely worth the premium price 👌
Yea, I feel you. I bought mine a couple months ago and this phone is nothing short of incredible. Good battery, great display, good download and upload speeds, and those cameras. Overall, this is a great phone.
Totally agree. I was I iPhone forever but when I had to get the screen fixed and the chaos that was involved with getting it to the store, long story short, broken screen, tried to set up appt, when I got there they didn't have me in said I had a buying appt. So I asked how to get a service they said "you need to set it up through the phone". Hello, screens broke. So I went and bought this a Galaxy and I really don't think I'll ever go back. It does everything I want it to and it's way easier to use
Literally picked my Pixel 6 after watching Marques review. It was my first new phone after about 5 years and I'm loving it. I love the annual awards video. Great job as always, Marques!
I've been using iPhones exclusively since the 3G because I really liked iOS and don't want to switch. It's great knowing that whenever I decide to upgrade I'll be able to get a really good phone with an improved but familiar experience and all of my data will transfer seemlessly. I haven't used a Galaxy but my guess is the experience is probably the same.
@@TheStatisticalPizza I understand and it actually is a very similar seamless experience when you upgrade. I have always been a tech lover regardless of the brand though I have been using the Note for the last 3 years and upgraded each year except this one as they skipped it. My wife has been using an Iphone and has been upgrading for the last 3 years. The truth is, in everyday use it is extremely hard to find a real flaw in any of them. They wont fail you and actually does what is advertised. The cameras are so similar yet so different. I go back and forth when shooting photos or videos, its like I now know which situation demands which camera 😅 At the end of the day I must say I am really impressed. I used the Huawei p30pro for a year before buying the Note and I must say though the Huawei was a flagship it actually wasn’t a very pleasant experience overall for the price I paid. Yes the night mode was brighter but brighter doesn’t always mean better and the portrait shots were bad. Both the Iphone and Galaxy gives you a well rounded and balanced experience and what ever you are trying to do, they won't fail you and keep you satiafied. My Note 20 ultra is still as snappy vivid as the day I got it. After using the huawei I feel like calling a product a flagship doesn’t actually make it a flagship experience. For that you either get an Iphone or a top shelf Galaxy.
True, or a best last year phone that works. So that we buy less new. All these phones are great and price goes from 300 to 2000 euro.... Crazy that he dindt say a thing about a fair phone
Maybe to make more phones be able to compete in that category, name it "Most forward looking phone"? It doesn't necessarily mean that the phone is super sustainable, but maybe also phones that are designed to last a long time...
A runner up for design for me would have been the Google Pixel 6/6 pro as the camera placement allows it not to wobble when on its back which is really nice
MKBHD should be the one to win an award honestly. His content is top notch and well deserves all the success. This series is a treat and makes the year feel complete. 😁
I think the Zflip 3 was undersold for most improved... Like you said, it was lowered in price, while increased in usability... but they also gave it water/dust resistance a folding phone now having a ipx8 rating is crazy, and a big improvement from the year before with NO resistance. IDK, take it for granted cuz every phone has it now a days, but adding that, plus more usable, PLUS lowered price. id say that's way more improved than "fixed auto focus" from the 21 ultra IMO 🤷♂
@@fynkozari9271 dude just STFU, here I've 2 people using this device and they being a heavy user gets through the whole day with one single charge, and talking about charging speed 55 percent in 30 minutes or so is enough for everyone
@@tafseerrahman5736 lol samsung fanboy. 5000 mah is big it better lasts full day, my 5t needs charging everyday too but only has 3300 mah 20 watt charging. It was released over 4 years ago. Samsung has old tech with triple the price lol.

Yay! I usually upgrade phones every year but the S21 Ultra was definitely a well balanced phone. Never had any issues with it. From S10 to S20+ to S21 Ultra, it just kept getting better.
This is the future! It's 2024 and I'm buying the s21 ultra rn. So I came to watch this all over again and give myself a tap on a shoulder. Wish me luck guys 😊
Samsung's 2021 smartphone line up was much better than we expected. Especially, Z filp 3 / Z fold 3 both are great and high quality. and plus s21 ultra was definately high-end in all dimentions, only phone that can compete Iphone
@@mikerzisu9508 this is so widespread. Everyone I know who has it has had this happen. Which admittedly is only a few, but still, a tremendously high failure rate. So, answer me, do you or do you not own one?
Although I have seen a lot of mobile awards videos this year, I was quite waiting for MKBHD to come out, and here it is. The judgment and the awards are fair and fantabulous as always! Peace ✌️ MKBHD
A summary of MKBHD Smartphone Awards over the years: 2018: ⭐️ Oneplus 6T Runner up: Samsung Note 9 2019: ⭐️ Oneplus 7 Pro Honourable Mentions: Samsung Galaxy Fold, Pixel 3a and Apple iPhone 11 Pro 2020: ⭐️ Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Honourable Mentions: Oneplus 8 Pro and Apple iPhone 12 Pro
I love Samsung’s design and quality control this year, but can’t stand their OS, font and general use. I appreciate the mid-range Pixel much more, but as a top choice it still remains the iPhone.
@@aryanically I’d argue them not being innovative is a good thing because since they focus now on being late to the party, they can make sure any features run great and amazing before they decide to implement them For example look at 120hz they finally added on the 13 pro series. They could’ve easily added it with the XS series in 2018 but then people would’ve been complaining about poor battery life. Now with the 13 pro max having smaller than average battery size (4300mah) it outperforms any other flagship this year in battery health with 120hz and to most ppl that’s important. Even the 13 pro with a 3095mah battery it still is in the top 10 best battery phones
Thanks for "in memory of LG phones" moment. Never owned one but they always interested me. Quad dacs and flexible g flexes, second screens on a cases and a lot more unique things LG brought to a market deserve to be memorized.
That v30 quad dac + a portable headphone amplifier (FiiO E18) + good headphones (Philips SHP9500 or HIFIMAN HE-400i) was astonishing listening experience.
100% agree with the S21 Ultra, the oldest phone here and still King. Although i jumped on the Fold 3 when it dropped i still go back to my S21 ultra at times because its still so damn good.
@@aarav855 damn imagine being so salty over which phone got MVP. LOL your life is sad. Not to mention that you seem to be claiming how S21U is for cheapskates whereas it's more expensive. Also your broke self is probably using an iPhone SE.
@@thelegendarybfg No, but do watch MKBHD’s and Mrwhosetheboss’s review. OP partnering with Hasselblad is overhyped as the camera results is not good as expected
