Always great to see product improvements! The dust/water proofing will make a big difference for our usages for installing these in motorhomes and caravans. One technical question though. How do we use the "Temperature sensor for BMV-702/712", as the regular SmartShunt has the ports available for the sensor and the new IP65 unit has the wires resin bonded. Thanks!

yes, you can read pout SOC one on, voltage only on the other

No, when you want to see doc charge that is, for voltage only the starter battery input could be used.

I have 2 banks of 6 eg4 batteries (not LL). Needing a wiring diagram to connect my 500A smart shunt to them. Banks are parallel to parallel. Pairing off on the two negatives. Would I need two smart shunts? One for each battery bank? Thanks.

It's a monitor , so it does not affect charge/discharge , only the monitoring of the battery. The BMV (or Cerbo GX connected to a smarthsunt) does have a alarm relay so you can control charge

I like the new IP65 unit. Why doesn’t Victron have a lower Amp shunt in the 100 - 150A range for RV/camping setups?

to be honest would that price wise be now difference to a 500A unit as the shunt cost is minimal

Thank you for the feedback. I was thinking more in line with accuracy. Would it not be better to match the shunt more closely with the expected loads running through the shunt to improve measurement accuracy?

@@entropy1961 isn’t the 500A accurate enough , theoretically you are right but in real life the effect is minimal I would say

the shunt measure SOC for one and optional the voltage of a second, if the minus is common also this can be a lead and lithium combination

I am looking for a shunt to use to measure battery capacity… but I think this setup looses all the data once the battery discharges. I was hoping the aux battery input would keep it awake, but it doesn’t seem to. Issue is SmartShunt resets and looses connection when the battery voltage drops too low. This makes it useless for me. In my opinion the power for the shunt electronics should come from the auxiliary battery… that would be much better. This SmartShunt has no value to me without the ability to keep alive. What am I missing?

You can run any hdmi extender hub you wish and use any touch screen you wish . You will have to extend / expand the usb for touch to work .

A midpoint monitoring tells about the balance between two batteries in series connection To get them charged well they should be getting the same charge voltage When the batteries have different internal resistances (due to deep discharge / age or such ) the charge voltage isn’t divided equally with cause under / overvoltage Then the lifespan substantially is increased

Why do I have to spend more money for a ve.direct cable to connect my old style smart shunt to the cerbo when both devices have bluetooth...............................????????????????????
