...there's no scenario where this is necessary. You can do everything this does from the app, and Alexa/Google can already run all your scenes.

@@absolutium I don't use google, but I'd imagine its just like Alexa. if the google app can connect to your SmartThings app, then you can just get google to do everything.

@@Mrjb602 That is not how things work.. for any device to interact with your interface there must be a receiver which understand whatever protocol the appliances use.. Most common are Z wave.. Zigbee.. and BLE

Do I have to keep connecting my devices to their specific hubs before linking them to SmartThings, or does SmartThings serve as a central hub for all smart devices? Specifically, can Hue and LifX bulbs connect directly to SmartThings without needing their individual hubs?

It's just one button? How do I setup more than 4 commands (one click, double click, take phone off, put phone on)? Also, my phone has a normal form factor, so it would be sitting on the edges of the thing, would that make charging slower? Also, there's too much marketing talk, it's no clear what are all of its Features and how they work. Also, does it have an IT blaster or do I need to buy a Samsung TV?

SmartThings is a nice system, but it has one MASSIVE drawback. You cannot back up your set up. You can program switches, lights, and dozens of other things. But when the hub fails, all of your work is gone forever. This means that when your hub fails, there's no incentive at all to stay with SmartThings. You might as well start again with a competing system. Except, you will likely buy a system that has a provision for backing up.

This is cool, but I think that Apple HomePod / google nest is better. This device is $80 USD, and for 20$ more you can get an apple HomePod or for 30$ less a google home mini. You get a voice assistant and a good speaker.
