Of course, as soon as that happened there's someone that needs to mention it on their videos. Easy likes, right? People capitalizing on peoples deaths is gross to me, sorry.
@@codyerb6143 Or maybe people are just expressing their genuine feelings and respect, and a Smashmouth video is the most logical place to do so? I just kind of doubt they're doing it just for RU-vid likes, because, well... Who even cares about RU-vid likes anyway?
I love the memes and all that but I also still love that album! The song structure and arrangements are really cool, also chords are really interesting in some songs
It’s crazy how if they started just a few years earlier they would have been even more approved by critics & what not. They were behind the times but it made them amazing in their own way.
Came here to give a lot of love and respect for Steve, his family and friends, and his band mates. ❤️👊🏽 Rest in Power, Mr. Harwell. Your voice and legacy lives on.
Smash Mouth was such a part of my summers as a teen. Songs like this one were the soundtrack of the season- fun music meant to make the listener feel good. I'm so sad that Steve is transitioning to that next place but his music and the memories that came with it will live on. Thank you, Smash Mouth. And love to Steve and all who love him.
Well said. I'm sad that Steve passed. Didn't know it was liver failure. Great singer. Crazy that the band continues without Greg and with the new singer.
@@James-to7piI was in junior high when I first heard Smash Mouth. They made rock and roll awesome. I’ll miss that about Steve that he made very uplifting music.
@@uwvadertje I liked Cleo and Veruca. Great pop songs, some of the best stuff of the 90s. Also loved Breeders, Throwing Muses, I would however propose that Smashmouth had a slightly more sophisticated sense of harmony, they drew a lot of inspo not just from trad rock, but also 60s psychedelic, exotica/lounge and cocktail jazz. Lots of altered dominants and voicings outside of the typical power chord tropes. I'd also include Cardigans (great female-fronted Swedish pop) a part of that genre as well.
90's music = pure nostalgia. Its like every song has a specific memory tied to it. Little things that I'd likely not remember if it weren't for the song. My 8th grade history teacher absolutely adored this song, and played it on a weekly basis in class, among other songs. Good times.
lucky you lol. All my teachers in the 90s were sticklers. And mostly useless. But thats not saying much, it was the education system in Tennesses after all lol
RIP Steve 🙏 Thanks for all the catchy tunes in the late 90s like this one with the band. This was my favorite song you guys did. You passed way too young :(
***** Were you a kid? Easy explanation for everything then. In anycase, I remember the years fondly with wide skies of gray, but I'm a Minnesotan, so...lol
I'm not saying this is the best music in the world but it has the quality and level of smartness of instruments and the has the difficulty of instrument layering that you don't see in popular music anymore
Astro Lounge was one of my most favorite albums ever. I listened to it days on end ❤ Steve was truly a treasure to the music world. We'll miss you dude
RIP Steve Harwell. You were a staple of the 90's and Ill never forget your cool music and the nostalgia that I get from hearing your awesome music. Rest easy
Favorite Smash Mouth song of all time. Fun, groovy, nerdy, attention to detail, one of my favorite melodic lines, instrumentation impeccable. Up there with Deee-Lite and En Vogue for retro and genre blend perfection.
@ Nyxful No doubt! Practically all genres were just hit with the explosion of the creative-enlightenment bug! Rock 'N' Roll, Hard Rock, Metal, Alternative, Punk, Ska, Grunge, to Pop, Country & Tejano. What an amazing ride the 90s were, for the musical artists of that era! ✌😎
@@SL-ld9tn Sorry, What? What's my childhood music gotta do with growing up? also why would I listen to a band because somebody who told me to "Grow up" and is a stranger suggested it to me?
I fucking loved Smashmouth back in the day! Correction I STILL do! Rest easy, my brother. Thanks for making the world 🌎 🌍 smile even for just a little while
Great song, sadly this hits different knowing he's about to pass away. Hope he finds peace. Heck of a thing time is when it comes to songs from childhood to now when you're an adult and notice so many more things about the world
+Fretless_ness Your right. I don't give 2 shits about celebrity stuff. I was outside of a club chilling on a bench, the drummer, and bass player came out. I had no idea, until they sat down and listened to me converisng with my brother, and they were laughing at what we were talking about, which were just jokes, and shit. They joined in, started cracking jokes with us. Then told us they were the Bass player and Drummer for Smash Mouth. I said, "So? Then what happened?" They were laughing harder than hell, because I didn't give a shit. They hung out with me and my brother the rest of the night. Very cool people.
At last the morning won't come for my man 😢 will always love you and how you and your pals Greg, Paul and Kevin gave my childhood an enjoyment through music. Was a fan the whole time and always hoped you guys would get some recognition for your later albums in the 00's Rip legend ❤
I love this song from Smash Mouth so much that I can't get it out of my head on behalf of experiencing plenty of nostalgia during the COVID-19 pandemic. R.I.P. Steve Harwell, we'll miss you and your brilliant voice, too.
This guy here, steve harwell, is an american hero. his positive messages kept kids in line through childhood and likewise. i'll never live a day without this guy in my life one way or another. rest in peace, Steve Harwell, american legend.
lasoogneypubes they got that SoCal feel ya know, but the main singer looks like a guy that drinks a little too much beer and watches reverse gangbang porn. I'm from SD and so is Blink 182, so you wouldn't know bro, it's all good though it's a Cali thing
+TheCanalesPalace - Haha now that you mention it, they do have that similar Y2K era sound for Rock genres. Ignore that other guy who replied, he clearly has California envy lol.
Sebizzar Haha yeah Y2k..that's a perfect way to put it. And no worries man, I just ignore the hate ya know. Maybe since it's because we're from Cali. We just don't sweat petty uncreative insults.
The singer started writing songs , thats what went on.. then egos started clashing , i mean , that and the fact that the songwriter didnt want them to sell out , but was outnumbered. Stuff like that.
Rest in peace Steve. I had no idea he lived right down the road from me in Boise. I've been listening to SM most of my life ❤ He passed away this morning. He will be missed
OK-- we all know that "All-Star" was the song from this album that everyone remembers and mocks to this day, but this was a legitimately great song that I'd completely forgotten about.
Watching the news you'd think they were a 1 Hit Wonder with just All Star, but Walking On The Sun, Can't Get Enough Of You Baby, I'm A Believer, Then The Morning Comes, some great hits.
