My smash vibe was dying until I remembered your ART OF: series and goshdamn your quality on these info vids have NOT changed a bit. Gotta say it brought me back to my Smash era :))
I still play this stupid ass game every day. Mods (visual or moveset tweak/char overhaul) bring the new content one craves. Its cut into my game time for the backlog. Can't stop with smash- ultimate being portable is the finaly cherry on top. Game is amazing even if it had stale issue in competitive
Finally, a guide that aids my hero experience -- I love it. Oh yeah, you have a 1.8% chance to literally die (aka get Kamikaze via Hocus Pocus) from selecting Hocus Pocus btw
Very small addition to swoosh: the tornado falls when cast, while woosh and kaswoosh stay wherever hero cast them. Can be used to mix up an anti-airing opponent: instead of landing charge up swoosh and let the tornado fall on them. You can only use it once or twice a match though as it leaves you pretty vulnerable if you miss
Very true. Can’t tell you how often woosh and swoosh come in handy when someone is waiting to anti-air me. It’s one of the best defenses hero has to an opponent who won’t get off yer ass
I loved playing hero, but it always stung just knowing that he was likely 1 change away from being moved up an entire tier. Imagine if the player had the choice to instantly use or store a menu spell (storing it at a cost, like no passive MP regen while it's stored or something along those lines) so he could reliably combo and use spells on a whim, as opposed to having them all be instant. I'd just LOVE to see what some prop players could do with the power to combo something reliably. I know it's antithetical to the hero kit but it just sounds like such a cool idea. I know some spells would need an adjustment between stored and instant, namely the slashes and kamikaze, on account all of them are fast, low MP, near uninterruptible and devastating. We do not need a character who can get a stock lead and close the game out with an accelerate combo into stored kamikaze. It'd be like giving Sonic wario's waft but he also has swordie range and projectiles... I shudder at the thought
Only things I can think of that were missed were a couple more acceleratle follow ups. You get combos off of Sizzle/Sizz, as well as Kaboom at 0%. Sizzle/Sizz can combo I believe into grab at 0%, and Kaboom I believe can be combo'd into fair and probably nair as well at 0%
I have just seen this video on my feed i have no clue how I've never seen you before but I'm glad i did you explain thing better than anyone else if possible i would love to see one of game and watch
I know you think you're doing right by your opponent, but there is no better feeling than coming back from a nasty turn of events and winning a match fair and square.
Awesome video as always! Hero is a particularly fun character to watch being played. Maybe not so fun for someone on the receiving end of a crit 😅 but that's life. Keep up the good work!
Salam man! Amazing video I love hero and always thought he was just a silly funny random character however with this guide I see a lot more of his potential! Thanks
OK I am actually willing to learn this character since you made a guide about him. Can you do some more advance characters like duck hunt, diddy, ness, lucas, rob, wario, olimar, ect. I would very much like an olimar guide please.
sure but if you use a slash move on a shield or hit someoneall slash lose power... the result is not the same for break the ice, just use whack on it 7:43 also slash used 1 time like flame slash ou kacrackle on shield or someone hatchet man cant shield break after
Hero being simple and easy to understand, yet also has the complexity and challenging is exactly how Dragon Quest as an franchise is and for that reason alone is why I love it.
Hero has gone from my most hated character at release (because of all his RNG stuff) to one of my favorites in the game because he’s such a meme and ridiculously fun to play.
Long time viewer here, just wanted to say that your art of videos have always been one of my favorite series on youtube. The amount of research that you put into them, the professional advice and the highlighting of every characters strengths and weaknesses always makes me want to pick up a new main, without fail. You seriously deserve more views, your videos are some of THE BEST smash content I have ever seen!!!
Hero main here. Thank you so much for your hard work, this is literally the best thing we could give to new hero players. I'm hoping to see a lot of new Heroes showing up thanks to this !
fr, I feel like it's an underrated option if you think most spells will have a good shot at landing--an unreactable Thwack, Kaboom, Flame Slash, or Sizzle for FOUR MP is honestly insane
@@greenthndr I'm glad other people get it 😎 The rush of dopamine from potentially getting a star or mushroom in competitive, as well as cheaper spells, is too much to pass up. It's a radical good time
Awesome video, man! Really happy to see you make it from an angle that takes Hero seriously. I hope this helps people really start to wake up and see how insane that character is.
I took Hero as a random character who had a weird mechanic that I couldn’t get used to, but since I played Dragon Quest and decided to give them another try, I can’t put them down! Even if I’m better with Aegis, Hero is my de facto main because they’re so freaking fun to play!
You know whats a fun fact? Hero has a decent match against Steve. Camping means hero gets to cast anything he wants and bounce beats out all of Steve's good options such as minecart, anvil, TnT and nullifies Steve's grabs.
Just a small correction, only the initial hitbox of the Zap family counts as physical. The thunderbolt, where most of the damage is dealt, is not, so the Oomph and Psych Up damage increases are negligible.
Thanks for another great video Izaw, glad to end my birthday week on a high note I still can't believe it's been almost 5 years since Hero came out and the entire controversy of them being broken because of thawp and now they are barely considered high tier lol. People were just raging so hard back then that it wasn't even funny. Man Smash Ultimate has been the game of character controversy
Art of Banjo & Kazooie or Art of Wario plz 🙏 And great details on Hero, as a player that has a hard time with fighting this character this is pretty useful knowledge.
This video is great. The technique of falling off the stage with Kaswoosh is really cool, but when I try it I keep flying past the ledge even if I hold in towards the stage once the move has started. Is there any special trick to that? I would love to be able to grab the ledge and try the flashy follow ups you demonstrated but I can’t get that part to work for me
I haven't tried learning it yet, but from that section of the video I'm thinking: Returning the stick to neutral after the dash, means you stay on the stage even if you skid into the edge Performing the up b while planted on the stage, you have slight drift control during the up b startup animation So dash as close to the edge as you can(max if you return the stick to neutral), then start charging up b, and hold away from the stage to slip off
Okay, having tested it i think to grab the ledge afterwards, is a combination of: don't slide off the ledge the first frame you possibly can(wait a tiny, tiny amount of time between charging the up b and pressing left/right to go off the stage), AND dont up b the instant you reach the precipice either, whether you dash into the edge, or exit a run(skid) into the edge, you have until those animations end to up b before it no longer lets you tip off the side with up b. -starting the up b too early into the dash will give you more air momentum from exiting the ground(harder to pull back under the ledge) -pressing up b, then *instantly* rolling the stick towards the edge is the reason you barely plummet, and gently drift forward past the stage(in short, you get the regular up b floating charge). Give it a few frames I can get it 4/5 times right now
@JewJitsu22 GL! Yeah I had nothin else to do at the time lol. When you dash(just flicking the stick), the momentum you have is lent to the jump, even if you aren't holding forward. This momentum doesn't instantly go to 0 when you reach the edge, even though you aren't moving forward, it's slowing at a normal rate. It's why Sephiroths dair off the stage and lose a stock when they dash to edge > jump dair You only need a piece of that dash speed to tip off the stage with up b. But! You will be fighting that same momentum when you pull back to the ledge. So let it dial down some before you up b off =)
That was a “How to Play” which is more of an introductory video. This is an “Art of” which is for mastery of the character and is way more in depth. I’m actually happy he was willing to do this. We might get one for Banjo and Joker!
Hey Izaw. Thanks for the Art Of series. I've been watching you since brawl when I came across your link vids. You were a big talk in SoCal lol. Keep up the good work and thank you again.
Throw your sanity and logic out the window when playing hero Just Don't the menu Just hit whatever Cause nothing kills someone's will to live like instantly turning into a nuke
