Got my grill and griddle in the mail yesterday and did smash burgers tonight. The only thing I did differently was I cooked my bacon on my griddle first, and used the bacon grease as my oil base. My husband went bonkers, he says I need to make them at least three nights a week! Thanks again for all your great recipes and recommendations!
I appreciate that I can go back to videos like this to inspire me to use my foodi grill. I’m too lazy to set up my ninja woodfire today. I’m going back to the foodi xl grill today. Thanks CJ!🍔 🧅 🧀
Looks like that griddle gets hotter than the blackstone electric griddle. The smashburger looks fantastic. DEFINITELY American Cheese is the way to go! I am a weirdo and like fries and pickles on my smashburger. The addition of the grocery list panel in the video was great! Nice feature🙂
I like using the White American Cheese 😉 I have not seen the Ninja Griddle in the stores yet...But I know what will be on my Xmas list. I have to agree with you, there is nothing quite like "Open Lid Cooking"
I have made smash burgers for years. Friends use to say don't smash the burgers it takes away all the flavor. NOT!!!! Well I love them I did buy a ninja foodie and that was the first thing I made. Delicious. Love this little machine ❤️❤️👍
Great channel (and content), CJ. Dumb question. I recently bought the Foodi XL (all touchscreen) and it's been great (mainly just been using it for burgers)... and then I realized there was this "Pro" version that allows for a griddle... so I bought that, too (to test out). I haven't cooked with it yet, but plan to test them both heavily this week. I'm a little worried about doing smashburgers on the Pro because I have to imagine there's going to be a lot of smoke (which is why I bought the Foodi XL in the first place... for a smokeless experience). When you did it, though... it seemed fine. The last thing I want to do is worry about the fire alarm. Will it be like cooking with a cast iron or does it somehow limit the smoke? Ooh. bonus question (because if anyone knows... it's going to be CJ!). I bought some thin cut ribeyes tonight. Since they're so thin, how would you suggest cooking them? I would imagine the normal Grill/Medium setting is probably expecting a normal size steak. Update: I just watched one of your other XL Pro videos and you mentioned cooking some thin steaks with the lid up (I assume you'd still use the Grill setting, though). Provided it doesn't smoke too much, that's probably the best way to make sure I don't overcook them. Sorry for the 20 questions. I've been watching a TON of your videos. You make it look easy.
Actually watching all these vids, I just ordered this device for myself as a Christmas gift off Amazon, rest assured I hooked my family up with some good stuff too in return. That said, I am excited about this, it looks like it could do a majority of my cooking. If I can get away from using the stove, I am all for it.
@@CookingWithCJ absolutely, your vids do a great job of showing what this product can do and how versatile it is. I love the fact that I can griddle cook and then air fry with this beast. Like as soon as I saw the promotional videos for it, I knew I wanted this machine.
I’m down with team velveeta. Velveeta 4 life! But seriously I didn’t think I would use this griddle attachment at all. But I’m using it more than anything. My black stone E series doesn’t get pulled out unless i need to make a bunch of food for lots people.
😋 I'm making these open faced on a Portobello grilled mushroom cap with salsa on top! Delicious! Maybe a grilled jalapeño. My husband likes the bacon on his.
Do you think you need the olive oil? It looked oily. Were you worried about using your smasher from your flattop (Blackstone)? I'm getting mine Thursday and Smash Burgers will be the first thing I do!!
Question CJ, Is this better then the Blackstone E-17 Grill? Seems this griddle space is tiny and would be good if not making alot, btu the surface area seems small?
Hey CJ do you know if there’s going to be a bigger grill that one kind of looks like it’s in between the two sizes now I was just wondering if there’s going to be a bigger one if you know thanks
I love me some American cheese. It's melty and delicious. My husband used to be an American cheese snob but he got over it when I started making burgers on our Ninja Foodi grill LOL
Hi CJ! My mouth is watering! Could these be made on my Sear'N Sizzle in the 6 in 1 on the Grill setting, or would I be better off using my extra-large Ninja skillet? These look delicious!!
@@CookingWithCJ They came out great both ways - on the S N S and in my extra-large Ninja skillet, but didn't smash as well. I had a 1 lb package and realized that 4 oz is too large to smash properly, so next time I make them, I will get the butcher to portion them for me in 3 ounces from the butcher counter or make them even smaller myself.
Has anyone ever had a problem with any of the ninja pans sticking your food it seems like after a few months of use my food is sticking is this normal or im I going to need replacement pans
I just bought a Ninja Foodi xl pro grill and griddle. The first thing I made was burgers. I used the grill grate to get the lines on my burger. The directions say in the book and on a sticker on the cover NOT to close the lid. It was spitting grease all over the place. Then I got a lot of smoke where I had to open up the windows. I’m about to give up and return it. Everyone says it’s a great product, what am I doing wrong 😑
That is amazing cheeseburger agree with you about American cheese but you need to try deli style American cheese it doesn’t come in a plastic wrap individually wrapped up cheese should never be shiny try the deli style American cheese and thank you so much for all your great videos they are awesome
I just got the grill xl for $171 with tax due to this new pro grill being out. I am seriously thinking of getting this instead even though it will be double what I paid for the xl. Do you know if you can also do these smash burgers on the sear n grill grates and if so what setting would you recommend to use?
I know you also have the blackstone e series. Which one do you like better for smashburgers, and why? Thanks! FYI, American Cheese on a smashburger is where it's at!!!
CJ...help! We've spoken in the past. I'm the one that bought the Sear N Sizzle grate only to have this new NFG&G come out a week later. (I waso disheartened) Anyway, as I told you at that time, I'm disabled and can't stand for long periods of time to cook so the more convenience I can get out of an appliance, the better! I REALLY want this new model! I want the cook from the bottom feature, the griddle, the improved grill grate...etc. My conundrum is....currently they have the "non-smart" version on sale for a REALLY good price in comparison to the "smart" version and the sale ends today 10/31/21 so I hope you see this and can get back to me today....question: would you buy the non-smart version? Or is the smart feature something that you feel is worth the extra expenditure (for my situation of being on a Disability income). Either choice, I will have to utilize the payment plan that they have available, if I qualify,....should I go for the smart (option #1 in your reply) or non-smart (option #2 in your reply) THANK YOU so much for your assistance in this particular matter/situation and for ALL OF THE AWESOME VIDEOS AND RECIPES that you share with us!
Hey thank you! If you have one of those instant read thermometers I always talk about. Then you can get away with out buying the smart version. Hope that helps.
@@CookingWithCJ Thank you CJ! (That was the answer I anticipated you saying because of your continuous use of and continual suggestion of, not relying strictly on the built-in thermometer to get the internal temperature reading of the food....but I was unsure of how some, if any, of the other functions of the machine are intertwined and reliant on the temperature reading (hope I made since trying to articulate my thoughts) THANK YOU SO MUCH for your input and guidance...and honest answer! I can't tell you how appreciative I am, especially due to your working and hands-on knowledge of the device
Cheese or Valveeta -wendy You know I love you when I use Velveeta for my toasted cheese with Wonder Bread. I have got to have Valveeta! and Blue Bonnet. My mom's recipe and the best grilled cheese ever. Trust me. The recipes are always ask for after served to a small home gathering. Mom's Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich Take two slices of Wonder Bread and cover one slice with 1/2" thick Valveeta cheese slices. Gridell with lots of Blue Bonnet. Homemade a cup of split pea soup to accompany. Split Pea Soup Take one pound dried split peas. Sort out peables, rinse. Place all peas in crockpot. Chop one onion, and one head of garlic. Add to peas. Cover with water to the top. Cook overnight. Add one pound real butter, and salt to taste. -wendy quantumtalk bee #quantumtalkbee🐝 Universal Newspaper #quantumtalkbco🐝 Cooking
@@CookingWithCJ you sold me! Ordered one today. Because of your videos I also ordered the outdoor pizza oven. I am so completely excited and I love watching your videos because you make it fun but also really easy for those of us that are not skilled barbecue people. Thank you so much for everything!
cleaning the darn metal part and then attaching it again with short arms is a pain. Just ordered the previous smart model for my niece's husband. Darn I swear I can smell them
