Your editing skills are so on point, and your archive of footage has to be incredibly vast. I recall the days of scouring Soulseek and Kazaa for any little snippet of the band I could find, and I only ended up with a quarter of this stuff at most. Pre-youtube was a dark time. You've done us Pumpkins fans a great service with these uploads. You win the fucking internet.
GreetTheSacredCow yeah before the days of RU-vid it was a friggin’ long ass drawn out hunt for whatever show you may be looking for. Not only that but could also get very pricey at times, depending on what it was exactly you were looking for. Yes... for some of you young fans out there of well, not just Pumpkins fans but of any/all other groups out there also... you had to back then thruout those glorious & so sadly missed heydays of the ‘so-called’ grunge/alt rock era espcly from (well...I guess from) 88, 89 thru 97. Yeah, you had to hunt down any/all concerts you wanted to get your hands on and lot of times pay out your b-hole for them. The better the quality, the higher the costs... most of the time anyway! Same went for any of them on video as well... uhmm yeah also video meant on a thing called VHS! Lol
That must be a great fucking feeling, to look out on a sea of people, and have them sing your lyrics or say your words before you even say them, because they love them so much. I can see how that can lead to bad behaviour.
I knowJames and D’Arcy didn’t really contribute a whole lot to studio sessions (they clearly had an impact on the the earlier records sometimes, but let’s be honest, it’s mostly Billy), James and D’Arcy are still incredible musicians to be able to play live shows up to Billy’s standards. I would kill to be as talented as them, let alone as talented as Billy or Jimmy.
No man, it was just a joke. The whole Today video is one big joke. Didn't you know that Billy and James used to perform in dresses sometimes back in the Gish days?
Who were all those people they were thanking around the 22nd to 23rd minute and what for? I know who Axl and Slash are obviously lol. I didn't know they knew GNR. Very different bands musically although Corgan has a lot of similarities with Axl doesn't he lol James Iha is really funny haha.
One of the most awkward moments was watching SP in therapy as a 13 year old literally worshiping Siamese Dream. Still fucking strange. Too many questions. The most apparent is WHY?
The Pumpkins weren't the best actors. Except Iha. They were all very honest. JC was about to cry, D'arcy was overly concerned and Billy summed up the band with an analogy that makes perfect sense. Anyway, they were incredibly productive.
Nirvana smell like Teen Spirit (i think it was when kurt cobain died, and Billy say "Rock is dead" and play a song of nirvana (the same in acoustic at 22:10. but for the rest lot of are from viewforia :(
It is not Smells Like Teen Spirit, it is Godzilla by Blue Oyster Cult. The footage live was in 1990, and I guess the acoustic was also 1990 because James mentions "our new album coming in 1991" or something like that.
