My first thought hearing it was, "that guitar needs a tune," then he started singing and I thought, "man that's a perfect 90's sound." Just a little out of tune, but it doesn't matter cause he kills it anyway. Nothing more 90's rock than that.
@@adidas2684I get what you are saying, because they used a lot of chorus in the early 90s alternative sound. But its way different to the instruments actually being out of tune. I also don't get why he can't hear it considering he is singing the correct notes.
@dfpguitar a lot of 90s alt rock and grunge used slightly out of tune sounds. Not like a single string or two out, but the whole guitar would be a quarter step out. This guy isn't exactly like that because he is just out of tune on a string or two, but it is remiscent of that 90s sound.
I can't lie--there's something about the out-of-tune guitar that adds a cool layer of texture to the song. A proper cover of an epic 90s banger. My hat's off to you sir.
Yes! Many of the songs contained within the albums Siamese Dream and Pieces Iscariot were intentionally chord divergent. This dude sounded good to me. Hard song to play, too.

Dude! That song is tough enough to play plugged in with compression pedals and a fuzz box to hide the flaws most people make when playing it. But darn dude! That man played that song all the way through like a breeze…..AND sang the lyrics to it😳
i love the sound of the guitar out of tune..most people arent comfortable enough with the instrument to just pick it up and jam it out no matter the tuning, your talent is impeccable and i love your voice!
One of my favorite bands. He did the song justice and I’m adding his version to my playlist. He definitely needs to make an acoustic rock-metal cover album.

I subscribed hoping that you will do more songs by the Pumpkins, my favorite band of all time. Their music got me through some of the hardest times in my life. Whenever i go to a BIG City. (I'm from the Midwest. So... The Twin Cities, Milwaukee, Chicago, etc.) This has always been one of the top songs I'd blast on my headphones and do air guitar to and pretend in my head that I'm playing it to the whole city as I'm downtown walking, biking or skating. It makes you feel ALIVE. Thank you for recording your son play and sing this 10/10 song! BEAUTIFUL.

This is so awesome!!! I’m 2nd generation Mexican American and I grew up in the 90’s around the time that the smashing pumpkins became a thing. I was in 11th grade when Siamese Dreams came out. I went to school in the “not-so-great” part of Houston, Texas. I’ve always loved all kinds of music from Jodeci and New Edition to De La Sol and NWA to Smashing Pumpkins and soundgarden, and so SO much more across the musical spectrum. When I was in high school I used to try to convince the white friends I hung out with to check out groups like Jodeci, Guy, New Edition, BellBivDevoe, etc, while at the same time I tried to tell my black friends about Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, STP, etc. I would try to get my friends from Acres Homes to check out Nirvana’s Nevermind because they were the ones who introduced me to The Geto Boys… I wanted to return the favor, haha. In the 90’s musical genres were still pretty segregated, but one of the great things about the younger generations nowadays is that the concept of “musical genres” is getting blurred. In the early/mid 2000’s white kids started really getting into rap and a couple of years ago I started seeing young black kids wearing Nirvana shirts. I even heard an interview with a young rapper (I think it was wiz khalifa) say something about how Nirvana was one of his biggest influences… that brought a huge smile to my face. For me good music is good music. I can remember getting a very similar feeling the first time I heard Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” as I did the first time I heard NWA’s “Dope Man.” It was the same angst, the same energy, the same chills. Ive never understood how others can’t recognize that the music is all coming from the same place. Anyway, thanx for posting this. Great song, great album, great band, and cool cover! Everyone talking about the out of tune guitar, you can use a capo to match the key you want to sing in if you're increasing the pitch, but you can't use a capo to lower the key. So this kid just detuned the guitar to sing in his natural voice. Great job. I enjoyed this.
If you can play Cherub Rock on a slightly out of tune acoustic guitar and sound good in the process, then you're a absolute natural. This is raw and beautiful. It is Art In Motion. If Billy sees this, he's going to smile for sure ;)
If you can’t afford a good guitar, if you can’t afford a set up, learn to tune THAT guitar. I’m talking about balancing the strings where you fret them as opposed to tuning open strings. You’ve already done the rest of the work. You absolutely smashed it.❤
i grew up liking alternative rock and all music. i always liked Smashing Pumpkins popular hits, they shaped an era. but i never really dove deep into SP and ive never heard this song. this song is a gem. i'm a big Deftones fan too and i can hear smashing pumpkins' huge influence on them. thanks for sharing! subscribed!
