Probably the Reynard for me. Even though it has a lot of power, it has much older aero than all the other cars, so I was pretty surprised to see it go that fast. The F3 also surprised me as well.

I was certain that Toyota could beat my beloved "Phoenix of Le Mans" 499P but the latter, aside my personal obvious affection for it, did even better then my aspectations. ❤

That AMR was super fast. Well in terms of it's speed. So it would have to be that one

Millions of dollars worth of racing cars... It's no wonder why they aren't. Even if there are racing cars that participate, it's not to the limit BECAUSE of the crash risk.

Pretty much what these guys said. Imagine crashing at 250 km/h into those bales without fencing. Absolute disaster. F1 cars only do showruns

To be fair, the late 90s f1 cars like the mp4-13 Nick drove were actually some of the slower f1 cars, they were slower than even the early 90s car and were well known for being rather unstable because they had to run grooved tyres and so I think any of the faster f1 cars in the 2000s era could run much faster.

They also saved a few human lives tbh 😅

@@THEWINDTUNNEL - The original single-seater Deltawing was presented in 2010 and was a legit candidate to become Indycar's new car starting in 2012. Back in 2010 (or maybe 2011), I completed an official online poll by Indycar that included it. I'm amazed nobody has ever tried to recreate the Indy 500 and such with it on any configuration (single-seater, two-seater or coupe). If somebody has ever made a "Deltawing Indycar carpack", it'd be fucking awesome to watch the AI just race for a few minutes.

Yeah seems the times are 1.5-2s faster. So only the cars from F2 onwards would have beaten it

Not only that but the Ss seem a lot straighter here than in real life. I don't believe one bit that a F3 car could beat a car almost bespoke to excel in this hillclimb.

3 things: - Goodwood runs are nowhere near flat out, that's why the VW I.D.R has the record, because it was actually pushed quite hard. There's no doubt these cars are faster than the electric VW right? 2 The track conditions are optimal here. Perfect temperature, no wind, clean and rubbered. 3 The cars are starting the run with heated tyres. If you watch Coulthard's run you can see he's trying to get some temperature into the tyres like crazy rather pushing.

You are 100% right. Fast cars like these are simply not allowed to do flat-out laps. They didn't even let the McMurtry to break the record again this year, we migh not see a faster run at the hillclimb :(

The 919 has better acceleration, and it's 4wd which is very beneficial around here

not with current regulation f1 cars, the 919 was marginally slower than the w11 around spa and current f1 cars are seconds slower, your best shot would be the f2004 with slicks

Have you seen Nick Heidfield's record that lasted over 15 years? He was on ice-cold tyres driving a 30%. In a late 90s F1 car which driven at 100% are already 10 seconds slower than a current F1 cars. The truth is that Goodwood runs are done at 70% max. That's why the VW I.D.R beat it even though is heavier, has less power, less aero and less top speed. Why couldn't an F1 driven at 100% with perfect track conditions be 8 seconds faste? I guarantee neither car you see here is going more than a second faster than IRL
