@@Lucas-vi1ub "there are smoother than this" I simply can not ignore that wording as it seems that you are missing a word there. Anyways, I assume you are trying to say that there are other sprite animations that run much more smoother than this which is most certainly true. I am yet to master the flow of sprite animation.
@@Lucas-vi1ub, agreeing with it. I'm certainly not the best at something like this, I'm far from it. I am also not the only sprite animator who has access to effects that make the these animations pop such as the light flares. On a side note, I've been trying to do pixel art so that I can make some custom poses for some characters.
@@chris6471 Believe it or not some people actually thinks that you are, I am not being against your animation or anything, I really enjoyed it and waiting to see more projects from you.
I love the subtle detail of Mecha pulling out his gun to shoot Mario before he stomps him, as well as being _THIS_ close to hitting the two before they escape into the warp pipe.
2:23 Something about Mecha Sonic turning to attack Mario here makes more sense then him getting duped to easily in the original. After all, he did manage to tell Mario was coming in this part 0:55
1:40 to 1:45 is actually done super well. It’s not a time-stop; both contesters are just extremely faster. I LOVE the little detail of Mario still moving.
I always really like how this fight makes Mario a bruised This re-animation really sells how hard Mario actually hits and shows WHY Mecha sonic chooses to dodge or trade blows with Mario. Especially that meaty stomp at the end sells that Mecha has to be at least somewhat weary of Mario’s power. I think as time has gone one, Mecha has learned to just dodge Mario instead of engaging in combat. Even his toughness seems to catch Mecha off guard cause he’s obviously fast enough to react to Mario. It’s just that Mecha seems to never really catch on that Mario is a much tougher opponent to put down than Sonic.
I love how the heroes always put up a good fight against Mecha Sonic, even get the better of him in just a few instances, but he usually always still won in the end because he was just that overwhelmingly powerful of a threat. The creator of SMBZ was honestly so insanely good at everything he did. Conveying Mecha as a threat, the sprite fights, even the tone and storywriting was surprisingly great for a crossover fan project. I hope that guy is super successful now.
this is so good, nice touhou and smash sound effect I really like the fact that mario is style moving at 1:40 instead of a stop time it seems more natural
I hope you won't take this personal or the wrong way but while I do like the fluid animation and it looks visually pleasing I think the original gave a much more violent impact and had more tension put to them but that's just my op I hope it won't stop you from making these incredible animations you are very talented :)
Just as I have said, I'm far from the skill level that Alvin is on. I will admit, this animation isn't as faithful as I wanted it to be such as the change in music. My animations are pretty tame compared to his however that won't stop me from improving. I would use that as a point of reference to assist me in figuring out my strengths and weaknesses in sprite animation.
Definitely something to keep in mind! Sometimes, less fluidity can help emphasize the blow of each kick, punch, and any kind of movement. Although, even with this fluidity, I think you can still work around a way to exaggerate the impact or even anticipation.
The only issue I have with this is that you removed the Light Speed Dash sound effect. In my opinion it fit and hearing both at the same time made it amazing.
Oh that, I forgot what that was called. I remember having an animation file containing that effect but lost it. Due to time constraints, I used whatever I had in my inventory at the time.
This is actually a REALLY good take on the original fight scene, and there are a couple of minor things that I prefer from the original, such as Mark's use of voice clips and audio mixing, the visual and flow of animation seems to be an overall step up. There is one MAJOR downgrade here that makes me vastly prefer the original over your version though, and that's the chosen background music. I know it seems like a very minor detail, but for me at least Fierce Battle from Metal Slug 5 made up a LOT of the hype, for lack of a battle word, the original battle carried, and with it's exclusion, and lack of a song with comparable energy to it, this remake just feels.... tame, in comparison, if that makes sense.
I really like how at the end, Mario knocks out Mech just BARELY enough time for him to eacape with Sonic. Really shows hiw every second counts in this show. 😅
When it comes to me, I chose music based on the environment and situation. The music I chose had a Drum&Bass (For being fast-paced) and Ambient (A cave-like environment) feel to it. That's not to say that it was better than the original track. I actually failed to find its exact name, only finding out about through the comments. Yes, I could've looked through the credits at the end of the episode but I was under time constraints which bothered me since I haven't uploaded for so long that I somewhat rushed it.
Chris 64 i can relate to time constraints affecting the final product. and i didn’t mean to make it as if i’m bashing yours for not having the music. i’m a huge believer in different styles and alvin seems to love adding adrenaline music from games
Mark has a sense for choregraphing fights to music that's really difficult to replicate. It's much of what makes his fights so hype in the first place.
I’ve just noticed how both versions are almost a product of their time. The original definitely has that DBZ style of action and fight scenes while these feels like a modern shonen fight scene not specifically DBZ
Rewatched this vid a lot more than I expected. I took a look at the original version of this fight and I have to say, the details you've changed/added to this battle enchanted the experience. Even some of the minor changes like Mario's slowdown during Sonic's and Mecha's lightspeed combat was smooth as butter. The BGM is the only aspect the original has you beat, but that's such a small complaint when you've picked a pretty kickass soundtrack. You should definitely make more of these if the labor isn't draining your soul. You have mad talent
I only have two things to say: 1st: YEEEES, animation was smoooth as much as it can be. Incredible job you did right there man. 2nd: one of the best moments of my childhood are in this video. It just brings me back to the good times. Thx a lot for this man, i hope i see more of this amazing job
Honestly, I forgot how much an overpowering villain mecha sonic was in these. Which was good, he wasn’t something the heroes could steamroll, it was like he was perfect cell and everyone was a regular super Sayian that wasn’t Goku. On the animation itself, I have vague memories I do the original, and this one while smooth, seems to lack the “Crunch” the original had. At least that’s what my lizard brain is telling me.
There's just so much about this that I love when compared to the original and even when not comparing it to the original that I just can't find enough of the right words to describe them all in detail. You did a lovely job with this, and don't worry too much about it not being perfect; we learn from our mistakes after all, and using them to continuously improve on ourselves is one of the hallmarks of improvement itself. Again, just…very good job here.
This is a seriously smooth remake! Like it has a different feel, the new dialogue, a bit different flow and has the calmer music but it still really works! Very nice stuff!
people so picky smh the purpose of a "reanimation" is so that a user can take his style and preference on it to see how it comes out if you guys are gonna compare it to the original then go watch the original!!! Chris this was A+++!
dude, this is one of the best animations I've seen, I've been watching a couple of times a month for six months now. For me, it seems like some unattainable level to which I will never grow. Setting a 3D frame, effects, all the accents, it all looks perfect. I dream of reaching the same heights as you, because it's incredible for me
My guy, you need to give yourself way more credit. Everything here feels like the original on ALL the steroids! Fluidity, lighting, impact, pace, and dynamacy; all of it was beautiful! Hope it can get even better! 👍
I do love how Mecha Sonics visor moves to look at Mario coming at him. Only complaint is the lack of the lightspeed dash sound effect when sonic is charging.
Not only did you added Jason for sonic but also you made the fight more fast paced, great job only real complaint was the music choice but that’s a small petty thing
This is super impressive, but my one gripe is so think I prefer a lot of the old sound effects, especially Mecha Sonic's "I've let you live long enough."
I dig it brutha, but um... I think everyone knows you placed sonic n the spotlight and threw Mario n the shadow. It was awesome but maybe next time a lil more even n even between Sega n Nintendo my n!gg@? Either way, when it comes to flash battle animation I give a double thumbs up. 👍🏾 Spectacular re-animation my brutha, high fluidity fa show!
Holy -, the animation is so sharp and smoosh!!! I really like this video. I'm glad, that u're developing in animation!! Good luck to u and ur channel!!
was always my favorite scene brings back a lot of nostalgia for sure with that old series. Pretty faithful remake. Other than the music from the old one that would get me hyped, the fluid animations are great.
I love this so much. While it ain't perfect with some sound effects and visual ones are a bit off and less impactful (specifically the light speed dash charging effect and the sonic bounce attack SFX), it is definalty a visual treat with more fluidity; Its close to AEs current style just without as much Sprite stretching and close ups. My favourite part of the video is without a doubt 0:41 - 0:53 . AEs style of choreography is very AOE focused due to the DBZ inspiration and how it's mostly team battles, and thus Actual close quarters Combat was very sparse. This part in Ep 7 and Basalisk were they only times he focused on that kind of fighting and it why they are my 2 favourite fights in the series, higher than All of episode 5&6 combined. I already loves that part in the OG and you improved on it completely with the little after image fade on sonic, the camera angle shift for the dive kick, the effects and adding in small shakes when Mecha sonic was gaurding. Beautiful. Edit: I also like the sense of weight to Sonics speed, how much of a pause there is between each of his attacks and bounces emphasises his fighting style as bursts of speed as opposed to constant speed.
Dude! this looks Totally Amazing! OwO i can't believe is been forever since you haven't done the animations, and now is great to see you back my Friend x3
UwU Ah yes, I have finally awoken from my slumber after almost 8 months of inactivity. If I am being honest, I did miss many faces on this platform. I've only reappeared when I have received word of the "SMBZ Reanimated Collab" which I myself have taken part in. Many did recognize me when I entered so it made me feel rather nice as I know I wasn't completely forgotten. I may not be as open to interaction as before however I am still doing the things I like to do on my free time.
Good job. Mecha sprite sheet raw is so small. But as a "day one", bob and George, fan of sprite anything....its fine. Hes a robot, and sure we seen Robotniks machines move smoothly, but Mecha limit movement is like the fear of a pro fighter. But every twitch, shift and change you did was wounderful.
So....so.....FLUID AND IN HD!!!!!. It actually feels like an episode of the reboot. Though I would have preferred to put a more "tense" track for the battle, but that's just my opinion.
Overall amazing animation. Things that I love are some added details and alternative styles like Mecha Sonic looking back at Mario (0:55) and how the slow motion didn't stop Mario's running completely (1:40) etc. I also kinda like how Mecha Sonic just walked to Sonic in 1:58, it establishes to how he's in control of the situation (but it was also wasn't too slow for the action). As other comments have already said, the music choice wasn't the best, as it's too tame for the fight (kinda reminds me of the song 009 Sound System for some reason). While most sound effects were either fine or good, a few were also not as impactful as in the original (Sonic's charging sound). Finally, some notes and suggestions of my favourite scene, the machine gun: I noticed the added detail of impact blast being smaller in open terrain (0:14) and larger in closed environment and ground (0:22) to emphasize the distance and making the background feel more 3D, so good job on that. However, if the ground blast were shown "sideways" instead of "top-down" whenever hitting the ground, it could make the 3D effect a bit better. Despite all the critique, I enjoyed this reanimation of my childhood. Thank you and keep on improving yourself, and don't be afraid of trying out new techniques!
this is excellent in its own way you definitely have talent, that being said the original is forever cemented in my heart, but keep up the good work bro
Watching Both Versions, the animations are better here but where the Original does better is the Light Speed Attack sound, When sonic bounces to avoid bullets it uses the Spring sound and the Background music...the original just felt more hyped. That said I think this is really great and it's a shame SMBZ never finished...it's always the good ones..
From my perspective, this fight was pretty good! I guess it could've been better, yeah, but he's putting HIS OWN spin on it. Overall, good work! I give it a 9/10!!!👍
