Support Purpose: debuff spatk and spdef, additional team protection with light screen, boost partner damage with helping hand
Strategy: 3x struggle bug, terastalize, light screen (renewing when it expires), lumina crash until blastoise resets its stats, 2-3 struggle bug (fewer needed if another partner is doing the same), 3x lumina crash, helping hand the attacker until blastoise resets its stats again, optional 1-2 struggle bug, 3x lumina crash, helping hand to victory
Notes: smeargle's gimmick is that it can learn every possible move making it extremely versatile, but on the flip side it has terrible stats. for this reason it has tons of possibilities for various roles but is difficult to use without a 3rd player.
Pros: resists hydro pump and flash cannon when terastalized, struggle bug debuffs spatk through shield while charging tera orb, lumina crash debuffs spdef quickly through shield (avoiding the immunity issue with acid spray), light screen halves damage from all of blastoise's attacks, helping hand boosts damage of partner attack by 1.5x, covert cloak prevents spdef drops (10%) from flash cannon (although AI is unlikely to prefer flash cannon due to smeargle's typing both before and after terastalizing, at the tail end of the match when blastoise gets to use a random 2nd attack each turn it becomes more relevant).
Cons: poor speed, HP, and spdef stats
