I bet man there is a lot of precise casting and balancing in these engines and when I watched the 383 stroker extreme they did on it I was obsessed with the motor, I sent them a message about the slightly lower horse cruiser and hot rod engines and how are they balanced and casted and built and is there any bottom end differences. I bet it's just top end changes like cam profiles and cylinder heads and intake manifold flow/volume specs.
Yes, same bottom just heads and cam, victor jr high rise and double pumper carb. Before this motor I had a 350/380 horse, and was very pleased with it GM crate motor with fastburn heads. The AFR 195 heads didn’t do what I thought they would. I probably need more cam.
Good question Tony. I researched this motor combo for like 8yrs and all the 383 ‘s had 195 and bigger. This combo with my 373 gears is perfect. My old 350 had GM fastburn 200cc heads and ran better than an LS1. I plan on adding more cam and a nitrous shot so my heads will take it all.
Motor is strong and bulletproof I really drive it hard just not often enough. Didn’t care for chrome oil pan and timing chain cover. Swapped out coil and plug wires because they were Chinas finest junk. I should have bought the 406 small block.
Any updates on how the engine runs? I've been looking at these guys for a while but here in Sacramento everyone keeps telling me to avoid them with no clarification why
I have had no probs with engine. Oil pan, timing chain cover, distributor and wires are pure junk and not worth running. The new shop manager is better than old one that retired. I should have spent 10,000 and built a 406 sbc. I needed the engine built quick and smeding delivered. Another great option is GM’s ZZ383.
@@camaro-motives4174 I see. I'm starting to see alot of these engine companies like Smeding, blueprint sometimes cut corners here and there. I think I may have to build it myself or use a race shop that can help. Thank you for the info
