I like how some people claim the piano isn’t hard. Yeah, it isn’t if you play Ed Sheeran and shit. But using one instrument to resemble a whole orchestra? That is mastering your piano. I love this!
Wow. An entire orchestra on a keyboard. Can you just imagine all those different instruments and voicings swirling in his head and then being manifest through his fingers?!! He deserves a standing ovation. Those people sitting do not seem to have understood what they've just heard.
Having lived in NYC for 40 years, hearing the best orchestras, solo artists, opera performances, etc...I was always amazed at how people would hear heavenly music and then just sit on their butts! I came to the conclusion that they were either snobs or morons.
I may not be Czech, but this masterpiece is one of my favourites of all... Calming, innit? Imagine walking beside the calm and rocky river, the morning sun shone on the redwood trees, birds twittering up the sky
I'm czech, live in city where labe (or elbe or whatever you wanna call it) meets vltava and even after so many years living there it still has the "wow" effect
Wow just amazing! I’m not sure what’s more extraordinary: Smetana for composing one of the greatest symphonic poems of all time, the person who did the perfect rearrangement for piano, or this pianist’ perfect performance! Bravo 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 I truly enjoyed this! Bravo!
5:37 aaaand there's the cough, I was beginning to worry that this would be one of them coughless boring piano concerts. And he waited for the perfect moment too, just as it was almost silent... god bless these people and their coughs.
Honestly, I find this ridiculous. If people are letting such mundane things such as coughing ruin their enjoyment of really good music, maybe the music isn't inspiring them as much as they claim it is. We ignore the mistakes made by the pianists because they are human and not machines, and their playing is beautiful regardless of any mistakes they make. This music is amazing and people coughing doesn't change that at all.
Truly breathtakingly heart pounding. For the last 45 years I have yet to be so moved by any classical piece since discovering. The Maldau. This gentleman has done great homage to a Smetana. By the last 30 seconds I wanted to stand up as I heard those last few clangs of the cymbals which were physically absent but felt in the beating of my heart and halted my breathing. As quoting another comment..."those present aren't fully aware of what they had just experienced".
Me at the beginning: "i´m not gonna like it, it´s orchestra piece it can´t be good on the piano." Me after: "How the F he produced entire orchestra ? Just how." Amazing really and as a czech person I thank you and I´m proud of you.
Ma Vlast has always been one of my favorite tone poems to listen to. When I was teaching school back in Detroit many, many year ago, I used to play a recording of the Moldau in my English classes and explain the story line of the life of the river and have my students write write a paper on what they heard in the music. Some their descriptions were very unique and creative.
This is by far the most beautiful performance of any piece I've ever heard. Better yet, this was originally intended for an orchestra... This is remarkable.
You know - these days so many people get fooled by so called patriotism. But its only an poor excuse for degrading people from other countries. Smetana created an beautiful masterpiece of music to show how lovely and gracefull his land is. And that is the only form of patriotism i can truly feel. Imagine how beautiful ist would be - to express the love to a nation not in degrading other nations but in creating music that truly touches the heart of many.
Thank you for posting this. Absolutely beautiful. My spine tingles as it does to the orchestra version. Bravo! It's a world class performance in just a modest hall. I am sure everyone wanted to cry just like I did. Merci!
Magic ! Each time when I am hiking to a summit, then on the way back down, I listen la Vltava, all versions (piano 2hands, 4 hands, orchestra). It’s just magic ! It’s one of THE melodies which make my heart whole ❤️
i am completely F L O O R E D. when i first listened to this transcription on spotify, i thought i was for two pianos. poizat's performance is unreal. BRAVO!
Extraordinary. A masterful transcription, of a very high technical difficulty. A pianist with enormous technical means who manages to make the orchestral breath. Bravissimo!
Hang on, I was already impressed with his unbelievable playing ability then half way through I noticed he doesn’t even have any sheet music. The absolute genius just did that from muscle memory alone. WTF planet do you have to be from to get this kind of talent
Whoa! 8:45 watch those glissandi, each fingered accurately! How many hands does he have, and how many fingers per? This is incredible. It would be great if Smetana could hear this.
Liszt is laying in his grave thinking 'why I did never do a transcription of this? - now somebody has beaten me to it and done an even better one than I could.'
I have heard the original for orchestra and a transcription for harp, of this inspired composition of Bedřich Smetana. Moldau (Vltava) is a part of Má Vlast (My country). This version, for piano, is very beautiful, too, in a nice performance.
Amazingly beautiful! ❤ A great arrangement for piano and a super talented performance of a magnificent composition! 🎹 💯 Compliments to the awesome pianist! ❤
¡Eres un pianista extraordinario! Tocas esta obra endiabladamente difícil con la soltura y facilidad de un verdadero grande unida a una hermosa musicalidad y bello sonido. Mis mejores augurios para tu carrera. ¡Éxito!
2021: Musicians perform”Moldau”in courtyard as you enter the Square. It’s a real grand Celebration when you hear the live music as you enter the Prague Castle. It has its own Two Tour-Eiffel Towers in Prague as well as artists such as the”Munch Museum”. See the Atomic clock in the Square near the bridge. It’s a lovely country.
