laugh at natural dialogue I don't own the rights to any of these clips. All rights belong to Adult Swim. All credits goes to Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack.
@@mushliiI mean if God did in fact save my life in that way I wouldn't technically "believe" in him I would just know he exists, and if he is truly the all powerful all knowing creator of everything then he's ultimately the reason why I would be in such situation in the first place, so him saving me from it doesn't seem like a good enough reason for me to like him or care about him.
I love how he refers to his employees as "My boys" because he genuinely sees them more than that, he sees them as family. He's an unhinged with occasional violent tendencies, but he is also a caring and loving boss.
@@badmoose01 We also never saw how hard of a choice that was for Mr. Boss. It could be he either had to bite the bullet and fire one of his boys or have smiling friends go bankrupt. He probably already had gone through the 5 stages of grief before he decided to let Tyler go. Besides, when things get back on track, I'm sure he'd call Tyler and offer him his old job back.
Bingo :) they told Marc M (Boss’s VA) that they were gonna call him at some point, but not exactly when That was the only prep they gave him and that phone call was off the cuff based on wat Pim (Michael cusack) asks Mr boss for help
yeah iirc the creators said they were sick of adult shows having the characters just being assholes to one another all the time and wanted to have characters that genuinely like one another and get along.
It's also not just mindlessly cursing for the sake of "adult comedy" like every time they do it the cursewords are used in a realistic way and I love that
Ngl, most "adult cartoons" are always more cartoony than adult, they just add some slightly complex topics and curse words and feel accomplished, but this one feels like it doesn't "need" those to be called an adult cartoon
@YouLikeKrabbyPattiesDontYou Probably took cues from Bob's Burgers, though I argue they're not as realistic a family as everyone says they are. That one goes to Bluey.
In all seriousness, if Pim was responsible for getting the plane tickets, it's only fair that someone else should have been in charge of the hotel. Those are my political views
Its absolutely messed up they basically left 80% of the trip up to pim, four guys going and only one is getting the plane AND hotel??? Nah. (Possibly influenced by him being my favorite character)
absolutely love the subtlety at 5:15 charlie says something nice about what each smiling friend acheived, except for glep, whom he briefly looks over to and then continues his monologue after being unable to figure out if glep even did anything. brilliant
So glad that in Smiling Friends people like that aren’t let off easy. Man literally has a mountain of cans fall on him and all his work putting them up was for nothing.
@@msthecommentator2863 No for real, Charlie is not about bullshit but Pim is quite scared of conflict rather reasonably so. One of the best shows adult swim has ever done period
7:16 the conversation on the phone with the boss is executed so well😂 I kinda feels like they just called the Voice actor of the boss without context to get a better improvised response
2:58 I love how despite sometimes being displayed as a dude with violent tendencies, Mr. Boss practices proper gun safety with the revolver while he’s in the office
5:16 Just realized Glep has a purple cap because he is canonically Tomar, and love how Charlie looks at him, trying to remember if he did anything interesting this episode, realizes he didn't and moves on to list other things
2:35 is one of the many reasons why I love this show. Basically all of the adult cartoons that have been popular as of late have casts of characters/families that literally jut hate each other indefinitely, but this show has characters that actually like each other
2:18 Someone needs to make more parodies of this moment; the image of a tiny guy like the Animal Crossing villager standing up to Satan would be hilarious.
0:13 This bit caught me off guard LOL. It’s making me picture Zagreus or Melinoe from Hades wandering through Asphodel and bumping into that one demon that forgot his lines to scare travelers.
Because Joel Haver's character is taking care of Professor Psychotic and it even sounds like he tears up a bit when he says "Go!" a second time. He probably realized he was putting his brother out on the street and genuinely felt bad about it.
The brazil episodes, "You chose the worst time to go..." was like the fucking punchline for me, I was watching along like eagerly for some sort of resolution and that just really hit me lmao.
@@shlemekian omg you're right, i didn't even pick up on that. the fact that he of all people would be the type of person to be hung up on that is just such good ironic humor lmao
A natural style just fits SO well for comedy, sitcoms are really a glitch by being as popular as they are. Canned laughter, taking turns spouting entire lines, it's really more like theater with comedy than pure comedy.
i genuinely love how Charlie or Alan will always randomly say “wow the boss is so funny” even after all he puts them through. they really are good coworkers 😭
I love how when Pim says "yeah we kind of screwed up here" they all just angrily glare at him in silence and he just tries to fix it afterwards. So damn real lmao
Despite being in a ridiculous and surreal world the world they live in the have these dialouge and exchanges between each other so naturally it makes it even more hilarious. Feel like Charlie is gonna be the one to break the 4th wall
The conversation between Charlie and Allan in the boss' office felt very personal to me, because I had a conversation like that with a friend of mine that I've known since middle-school about 3 weeks ago. I had never taken it as weird as it was an occasional physical contact I do to those I'm close with on occasion, something that my family do to eachother on occasion to mess around and show affection. But to him, it was uncomfortable and weird. It shocked me that he had never brought it up before, because I've done that to friends and family for a very long time. But it made me happy that he brought it up, because it really did seem to bother him and he finally opened up about that. It taught me that communication between friends is very important, it's what makes them last. Don't be afraid to talk to your friends about stuff like this, it will be uncomfortable and awkward at first, but it feels liberating once you've opened up about stuff like that.
the wholesome compliments and joy they feel for each other's company in the Christmas episode directly followed up by the memory of the very hard to watch finger-pointing and awkwardness of the Brazil episode gave me whiplash
The people who will buy the PS5 PRO for 799 dollars:...Oh..oh my god, like...yeah..we- Cough cough, well we..shit, you see, at least ummm, we not going to use for exorcism right?!
Out of ALL the unscripted conversations, the argument between Doug and Daniel was probably the most PAINFULLY real one! Joel Haver somehow MASTERED that
