@@pedrosotelo3367 yesss, I'm waiting for it to get a bit further along, it's gonna be a serious nostalgia trip when we finally get back together with the boys.
Am I the only one who feels depressed about this ? I mean cool better graphics w/e , but we lose god pack, lose skins, lose gems, get a legacy system update that we need to pay 33 euros which a lot wont pay and it is splitting the already low population.
No, No you are NOT the only sad one, My friend circle an I are also sad, We’ve been playing for years an we’re gonna lose everything we worked and paid for lol its crazy.. I hope they keep Smite 1 up because im going to be pissed if they take it all away
Yet again people believe that Hi-Rez is developing Smite 2 for boomer players... They are developing this game for the new generations. Smite is running on UE3 and nobody wants to play Smite because it's outdated and it runs like garbage. Why can't people understand this? You may not like it but new players might. The whole point is to attract new players to this game, Hi-Rez wants to grow and Smite 1 won't make anything grow on a outdated game.
Rip to all EU and SA players who will now have to either play with terrible connection or never find a match because their already dwindling player base will now be split even smaller. Hell, that problem is gonna hit every server
Smite player base isn’t that small. On steam alone there’s 20,000 concurrent players. I could also see this drawing a bunch of new players bc the outdated graphics might’ve put off new players for a while
@@shanedancer3895 note, I mentioned servers, just because there's 20k concurrent doesn't mean they're even distributed, south American and EU players all say they have to switch to NA to get matches at certain times of the day. It's a small community even if small is just relative to other games. Also where did this thing about the graphics come from? If live service games pulled or pushed away players depending on graphics games like WoW, LoL, CS, tf2, ect would be dead and destiny wouldn't be a total flop that recently reported to have never been viable or turn a profit
@@stevsux4442 I’m not saying games with old graphics will have few players or games with good new graphics will definitely have more players, just that changing from old to new could draw in some players. It could be the difference for some people.
@@shanedancer3895 I've talked to many people who wanted to try smite, the word has never come back that the graphics need an upgrade. Hitting the reset button on character count, mode count, player count and cosmetic collections so they could upgrade the graphics from looking like it came out in the late ps3 Gen to the late ps4 Gen and add some quality of life improvements just doesn't seem like it'll draw enough players to outweigh the number who at best stick to smite 1 and at worst quit because they feel disrespected by how this is being handled. Especially in the long term when those new players coming for the graphics or to see if they like it quit to go back to the games they were already playing
I don't think all New players want to understand how to play a MOBA with 130 players at launch. That's simply overwhelming. A fresh start is what Smite needs, IMO.@@stevsux4442
My biggest question is how long will it take for the newer gods too come back into the game? Gods like Morgan le fay, maman, Tiamat. A lot of my favorite gods are newer gods so I’m curious how long I’d have to wait for those too come out
@@Ouchmyhole I guess that’s kinda fast. My main is Persephone so she’s not really new but she’s definitely not an OG. Might take a year or so before she comes out
2 gods a month means 24 gods and when the initial release only has 20 gods, then you could potentially be waiting up to 3-4 years for a specific god to release. It’s absurd when you think about it.
What do you mean you get to buy all new skins because they spent all the money we supported smite with on DKO and other games with like 60 people playing them that no one asked them for. Now these same aholes are building another game no one asked for and destroying the smite playerbase while they do it. You should have known it was extortion the entire time. If you would have baught stuff in those shitty games they made they would not be ruining smite.
Absolutely amazing video, But I do have one question. I understand my gems will be transferred over to negate losing all my skins, but what about hundreds of skins I have earned through chests NOT bought with gems? They are just up and gone or will my skins becalculated and I will in turn get those gems as well? Huge missing information here that will dictate whether a lot of players will be playing Smite 2 here.
@@wolfdeathnogames5314 they just confirmed that any skin before year 11 is basically not coming. The lady talking said anything before year 11 is basically impossible to port into smite 2
So basically, in simple terms, you receive 50% of your purchasing power UNLESS you buy Smite 2 founders pack? "We take back 50% of all the money you spent and will give you them back only if you spend even more money" That's a scam.
@@frozenstar8050 No, it doubles the AMOUNT of legacy gems you get, not the value of them. They worded it extremely poorly (probably on purpose) and now people are confused, but the legacy gems do not have full purchase power no matter what pack you buy.
Yes it is a scam and when you buy the founders you just get more 50% off. meaning you would have to spend 2x the money that you spent on smite one just to recoup your value. These guys are thieves and con men.
@@frozenstar8050 no, it isn't the same, because the gems can't be fully used to pay for anything. they just made things "half off". So your purchasing power is zero unless you put money in beyond the purchase of the game or the founders pack. As I understand it.
I get that they want to copy league and dota but the two relic system just makes way more sense in a game like smite, since it was literally built upon a two relic system, unlike those other games so I can see them changing that hopefully
Was about to say that but I think that’s what the item change is about, I thought the same thing as I use characters who excel early game nd need relics early game but then you build a couple items on them and their good
They ruined smite years ago, but yea they do desperately want to be roit which is why the idiots spent all our support money on games no one asked for. Now they want us to fit the bill again so they can make another game no one asked for instead fixing all the shitty stuff they did to smite.
@@Ryniano I don't think they are. All skins that come out in year 11 whether it is from a battle pass or the store will direct transfer, but they said it is too much of an undertaking to port over skins from smite 1. They mentioned it would take them 2 months to direct transfer 1 skin from smite 1 to 2 and there is something like 1200 or more skins in the game.
@@KillaManReaper2 lol that math doesn't add up worth shit. They can add gods every 2 weeks but can't re-rig and touch up the models to fit the animations of the new models is absolutely bonkers. A very clear cash grab from them to have their players repurchase the skins again.
@@nisvetdedic8081did you not hear them for every gem item you own you will get double gems in smite 2??? Also they it’s new graphics animations they are using so reworking each skin to work well with an animation would take time on top of re-vamping every hero again now I agree 2 months is crazy but I guess they rather just come out with new skins
Most of the stuff look like shit. Cartoony at best. While smite was a little grainier everything felt like it belonged every bit of footage I have seen looks like shit with most object seeming out of place.
A lot of inspiration is being pulled from LoL I see. Active items, item components instead of item trees, physical dmg - AD, magical dmg - AP, all gods being able to build all items, bushes granting invis... I mean, not hating, those are good systems, but it's pretty obvious where they come from. Sadly, I won't be able to play smite 2 bc of hardware limitations. I wonder how long will smite 1 servers be live - a year or two maybe? What about balance changes, content patches? I guess we'll see. Anyway, still pretty excited for smite 2, a lot of well-thought out decisions with its release. I hope to play it someday
The only reason they are doing this is because they are broke with all the failed games they made that no one asked for. Look at the legacy skins its such a pathetic joke they are all horrible because they are that desperate.
Sorry you guys getting backlash I personally understand that all skins to be in smite 2 wasn’t possible but Ty for the effort of bringing over some like 50% from my understanding. Totally HYPED for smite 2 can’t wait , I play on Xbox X😊
Honestly I am worried that this is just gonna flop. A lot of people spent a huge amount of time and money in 1. I have a love hate relationship with League, but if they announced a League 2, and I lost all my skins and they discontinue the first League, then I would just never touch the game ever again. I mean you're already going to lose people, you'll have some hardcore people stay, but if it doesn't grasp them, then it just becomes a major lose.
well, they aren't pulling an overwatch 2 thankfully, they are keeping the og smite up and running; but yeah, smite 2 won't exactly be a hit with the older player base until a lot of the gods and skins that are in smite 1 exist in smite 2...and even then the fact that we have to rebuy the stuff is kind of a slap in the face, even if it is 50% off
@@jasonmiller2379ya but they even said it’ll quite literally take them forever to get all of those skins in the game not only that they have to worry about getting all the gods over to smite 2 they’re giving us collateral with the legacy gems it’s the best they can do I highly doubt this will flop smite is on a really old engine atleast it’s not like over watch 2 re skin if you could even call it that. they’re literally building the game from the ground up there is only so much they can do with the skins from smite 1
I love the sexy bird as well and I assume there's gonna be a similar base roster as the original smite 1 launch but maybe twice as many since they have bases to work off of. I assume there will be around 20-30 at most and if there's more I'd be pleasantly surprised
Very very nice. Much better graphics, textures, engine and new animations for abilities?! Very nice. Also, Chaac looking sexy. I approve. Hopefully Chaac gets his moan on all of his skins. The handsome man is looking good! Not saying Chaac was included in the release trailer for me and my 50 stars but I appreciate it! Also, IGN said "brand new backend matchmaking system" so HOPEFULLY this means no more golds and plats ON MY TEAM while the enemy team are full diamond and masters players. Hopefully shifters and other bruiser items come back so us warriors may thrive once again. Smite is at its best when warriors are strong. Wait so now EVERYONE gets a free ward?! Constantly?????? Now their is absolutely NO reason why these high ego hidden profile adc mains reduse to ward. Absolutely NO reason! Finally, I can't wait to see people dodge games in unreal engine 5 because NOBODY wants support.
I agree because I’m also a warrior main but it’s very funny to see someone say they have 50 stars on a warrior and then say smite is at its best when warriors are strong lmao
I hope the matchmaking changes don't translate to the ranking system like with Overwatch 2. For anyone that doesn't know, in Overwatch 2 you don't go up by just winning, you have to play not just the roles but how the devs intended the characters to be played each individually to go up, in other words, play as the devs intended and win, no matter if the character plays like shit the way the devs want to.
Very nice? It looks awfull to say the least. Simple money milking project in a semi new jacket. All the changes are stupid, it wont feel like smite.. and it most likely gonna flop. Im staying on smite 1. Havent paid over 1k in gems just to toss it away for an awfull part 2.
nah, having the gems only count for a max of 50% of a purchase is dirty as all hell, they basically holding all your previous gems hostage so you buy even more gems
No instead they are giving old players "Legacy Gems" which are just %50 Off Gems needed to purchase skins in Smite 2, you will need to buy the Smite 2 Founders Pack and Smite2 Gems to purchase items in Smite2
Huh I didn't knew there's going to be Smite 2. I tried this game a couple of times but cannot stand the graphics. If anyone loved Gigantic, that's my favorite 3rd person MOBA and with all these changes coming to Smite, I'll try it out once again!
I wanted to respond to one guy but I thought I would make this a standalone comment in the end. I wanted to point out to the guy who said that smite has 20k concurrent players. That's a peak and not the average, usual peak is around 15k and avg is 10k... and if you divide it between all the region servers that's like 3-5k per region which tbh isn't that much for pc. I know that a lot of smites player base is on console but Idk the numbers for that, but whenever we play with friends we keep going against the same players most of the time. Smite 2 is definitely going to experience a boom when it comes out but I bet within a month it's gonna be back to these numbers and imo it might go even lower with their decision on transferring only some god skins and the most laughable thing is that they literally said "Unless you buy our Founders Pack (which I'm guessing will be around 80 euros) we will only give you 50% of the gems you spent your money on in Smite 1 that kept our game alive. Like I'm looking forward to trying Smite 2 too see the new effects and be able to play physical Ymir like in the old days, but overall this change is kinda pushing me away from smite even more.
I think Hi-Rez has the future in mind, if im being honest Smite back in S1 and S2 was visually terrible and that wasn't attracting anyone. With UE5 they can make Smite visually appealing and most importantly it will have much smoother gameplay. Just by going through the menus in Smite 1 is terrible, lol. Hi-Rez will probably reach out to popular moba streamers and focus more than ever before on marketing, they will also focus more on the e-sport scene and competitive play and give more players s chance to build a career in Smite. All and all i believe that Smite 2 will be more popular than Smite 1 ever was.
Enjoy it while you can, when companies do crap like this, they usually end up sunsetting the older game. Smite 1 will probably be shut down in a few years.
Wait 246 person years to port all the skins? So you are saying it takes more time to port skins you already made longer than the game has even existed? What am I miss understanding?
I honestly dont like the changes to physical and magical damage. Along with any role being able to build all items. I feel like this is going to be almost impossibly hard to balance and makes the game way more complicated for no benefit.
Smite 1s balancing team just straight up doesn't know math. They always have some broken stuff even with the simple, but unique, system they have now. They're copying league and this is something they've never done before and I think the change is definitely going to be broken. They literally gave crit Ymir as an example as if that has ever been a thing in 11 years lol
You have to start over with pretty much every live service game that makes a sequel. The amount of time it would take to transfer and code all active/non active player skins is unfathomable. Plus im pretty sure they gotta re-license certain skins if they want em in 2
It's actually pretty fathomable, considering they're just 3d models. All they would have to do is re rig them for the new animations. Sure they wouldn't look as nice as the updated unreal 5 skins, but they're really just interested in selling new stuff and can't be bothered to throw the community even a little bone. Them acting like "legacy gems" are some kind of reward or thank you to dedicated fans is just pathetic, it's just a sneaky way to incentivize whales to spend more.
@@jack23325I mean yeah you are not wrong but the corporations priority is to make money and they will find ways to do it. After all Hi-Rez is at least offering something when they could realistically say fuck you to everybody like Activision and EA does every year. Just imagine how much money people are spending on Call of Duty and FIFA just to lose it all every year. Me personally i have spent hundreds of dollars on Smite and even though it sucks i know that i want an upgrade just to move on from UE3 and this terrible code.
The whole thing screams "we want money and we dont care about anything else" Reading it as anything but is just pure copium. They could of given you a 1:1 gem but instead are only doing 50% off. They could of just GIVEN you skins (their 246 year comment is a fucking lie and just a cop out, or shows how they are incompetent at their job) Gods aren't all being released at once potentially leaving people to wait to play Smite 2 for 2-3 years before their favorite god is finally in game (to milk people for Smite 1 skins to pretty much leave them crumbs to eat with skins while waiting for their god to be released on 2.) They wont keep Smite 1 open. im sorry but no. They just wont. Hi-Rez is doing HORRIBLY, all of their games have flopped except Smite, and that one is barely holding on as is, so they are making Smite 2, with these bullshit Gems idea and removing all the money people spent on their game, to REBUY more and again. or for 50% off. Effectively if you spent say 2K into the game over the years, and u want to get that 2K back, you'd have to spend another 1k, FOR THE EXACT SAME GAME JUST MODERNIZED. @@jack23325
@@jack23325 You think rigging over 1k skins is easy? Half of those models would look completely different in UE5. You cannot just copy and paste 3d assets from 15 years ago into a new engine and expect everything to be dandy. They threw us a bone by updating the game at all instead of letting it die. You people are hella ungrateful.
@@friendlyneighborhoodcollec5928 yh but they also carry worshippers and other cosmetics from Smite 1 over to Smite 2. A loading frame doesn’t need much change, it’s just an Image, no effects mostly. But ok DUDE
SO we lose ALL our skins and in return we get some shitty legacy gems which are not even fkn proper gems cuz the give only 50% off? It just robbery of 50% every money/gem we spent on that game, this is hilarious, I will never play smite 2 and i think people should boycot this "remaster". Hi-rez just made money grab move, greedy pigs.
YOU KNOW WHATS ANNOYING. DOING THE MOST DAMAGE AND WORK TO TAKE SOMEONE DOWN AND YOUR TEAMMATE COMES IN A SWOOPS THE KILLS IN HIT OR ONE AUTO AND THEY GET THE REWARD!!!!. ALL THAT WORK JUST FOR AN ASSIST. THEY NEED TO CHANGE THAT!!!!!
Just give me to the option to still use Dragons Rage Kukulkan skin and Vanguard or Retrocles skin for Hercules. I'm fine with losing every other skin I ever had.
So fuck the ultimate god pack .Im going to play smite 2 but im staying on smite one it feels like its going to be awhile for all the newer gods to come in.And what going to happen to my max star camzoth I’ll be sick if it doesn’t transfer
Do you believe that selling a bunch of ip skins while you are developing a "sequel" knowing well you will delete them all is sleazy? What is funny is the sound is likely to be the biggest difference in this UE5 update. Man imagine Fortnite upgrading to ue5 and not ripping off their players like smite 2 is.
3:22 "Rewards your time" lmao good one, until the game starts to die and smite 3 needs to come rejuvenate it so everything you earned through years of your time spent playing the game is invalidated as it's not carried over and removed from your account, unless you spent real money on every single item... EDIT: Didn't know smite 1 was staying live until the end of the video, point still stands though as the game will be second fiddle instead of carrying over everything like OW2 did, I refuse to believe it would take 246 person years to redo 1600 skins that already exist in smite 1, it's just the most profitable way to monetize it with legacy gems only used as a 50% off currency so you have to spend more money on the other half. Unless everything you buy with legacy gems is 50% off and you don't need 'Smite 2 Gems' for the other 50%, but this is HiRez so no way in hell that optimistic outcome is the right one.
Who is this intended for, iridescent skins that make eyeballs ooze out? They killed the first part now knowing that the previous product is dead they want to revive it in a new part... it's sad
Probably, but considering the price for the value I think it is a worth while spend. Remember, it is every god released and to be released for a one time payment.
I am willing to bet they are getting rid of the god pack, that’s why it was not mentioned at all. This is just my guess, but they were pretty thorough about addressing a lot of other concerns, but completely failed to even mention the god pack. This leads me to believe they are putting off telling people news they know will not be positively received. Personally I would not mind having to buy completely new gods (like Hecate), but I will be very annoyed if I will have to re purchase gods I already have from the original game.
