It is very disappointing that they left out a very important part of her lore. She drank the blood of Raktabija to prevent him from making any more clones, which had been used in her original set of abilities (Syphon Blood, which was very fitting for her, but was replaced with Incense). The lore provided for her honestly doesn't explain WHY she is the Goddess of Destruction, which is unfortunate. Now she seems a bit OP. And by "a bit" I mean a lot considering how much HP she restored after defeating Anubis. Still curious as to why her abilities were changed. Can't say I'm overly fond of them, but, whatever. She's still pretty cool but I'd never play as her.
mothquake Yeah they nerfed every of her core items and seeing that she is item dependant...she can only do shit in late game. Most matches don't even get there. She needs a buff pronto. I love her to death, she is my favorite god in the game but seriously....

Favourite aspect of the Goddess (Devi) 🤣 Durga, Parvati, Lakshmi, Kali are all one entity, at least according to the Devi Mahatmya (check out Chamunda, she's quite an interesting figure too)

Btw with this rework I just saw she is not op except maybe that ult. She is much more skill shot based seeing as her old w was a cone infront now its more aim and time. Her q can be missed if not timed right but is a good catch up tool/engage or escape unlike her old one which increased speed and i belive attack also her E is now a stun which is good because she had no cc to catch someone but her old e granted incredible sustain based off surrounding enemies so it was slightly situational.

I came back to smite after 3 months and found that my main, Kali was remade and found that I did not like her new skill set, so I go back to my second main, Agni, to find that they took away his unique walk. God damn it. xD
Art will most likely get a remodel to make her model fit in more, don't expect it to be a major look change cause she looks good now, her kit might get tweaks

Please consider these are not just ordinary god like Zeus, Thor etc who are just powerful, hindu gods you are using as character are worshipped here and has separate festival. Don't play with our feelings. You can use other gods like Indra, Shani dev, Surya Dev, Ravan etc. But don't use Kali, Shiva, Ganesh, Krishna, Vishnu. It is like you are using mohommad and Jesus as game player. Even more than that because they were just messanger of god's but these are our real gods. Don't do this.
I think a better idea would be to use Kalpurush (the demon of Kalyug), Vibhishana (Ravana's good brother), and the humans of Mahabharata. The Mahabharata heroes can be opponents against the asuras and rakshasas.
I’m trying to find the ‘origin’ of the group of people who got offended and raised a scene over the original depiction of Kali in Smite. Some people are saying “it was just the social justice warriors” others are saying it was actual leaders/”big names” within the Hindu community and I’m honestly just trying to figure out who exactly rose the fuss so I can read THEIR commentary (not people being pissed off they re-worked her character in the game) and come to my own conclusions

I love the new look, much more physically intimidating, but I do think she's a little bit op in the sense that she has no real weaknesses like most gods have and has every single good ganking tool in the game.
What's Agni's weakness? You could say that about plenty of gods. Her weakness is that she's an assassin, and thus falls of lategame and is easy to focus down.

With one ally not stealing her target kills, her target on the scene, and the luck of her new target being there too I've seen her escape 4 people trying to kill her, escaping with full health and a triple kill. Without using her ult.

She has every good tool for ganking in an easy to use form rather than a set that may be missing one or require a higher level of skill. Some gods are op when you learn the tricks of using their abilities right but useless if you don't know how to do them right, Kali is nearly impossible to play wrong and has a low skill ceiling to high efficacy. Not terribly OP, just mildly.
I don't know. I haven't played her yet but her kit doesn't have nearly the same utility as many other assassins. Take Mercury, Thanatos and Thor for example. All of them have ults that can take them an extremely long distance away and stun/nuke at the same time, allowing them to make fast, easy and effective ganks, or quick retreats. Kali, on the other hand, has a jump, a nuke, a stun and a death immune ultimate. If you get right down to it, her kit is very similar to a god like Apollo's. It has other nuances that distinguish it from apollo's of course, but at a fundamental level they're roughly the same. Of course, she's lacking apollo's ability to split push, but I think her passive is excellent enough to make up for the deficiency in the rest of her kit. To be honest, she seems pretty balanced to me.

Her moves are unpredictable, once she is in rage she can destroy whole universe and some more things about her she never wears clothes like this but in real what is wears is a skirt of demon arms along with a garland of demon head even she never had never taken any type of lamp with instead of this she carried the head ro raktbejh at last she is one that whom no one can stop instead of lord Shiva if she begins to kill in short she is a the most powerful goddess.

When I saw on my e-mail that they would change Ka Li, I almost grabbed my katana and called a few friends to destroy Hi-Rez Games Studios, cause Ka Li is my favourite god in this game... I must say, she was really nerfed, and that makes me feel sad, but I kinda liked her new skills and new look, it's awesome I must say... so... yeah, I liked.

Well, you got a point, since Hinduism is still in practice and the deities are worshiped in large numbers unlike any other religions and cultures. But as long as they are portrayed in a good way. They could have used (mostly) legendary heroes or demigods and not the major deities (or many be just minor deities like Agni, Indra, etc) as you have mentioned. but think of these "characters" are based off or inspired of those hindu deities, and not the exactly the same as we know. I rather see them as independent game characters and never equate them or see them as same as our deities.
