Another Look at my Smith and Wesson Model 10-6, and some accessories I acquired for an upcoming class. #sixguns #smithandwesson #model10 #S&W #brownells
Excited about this! I need to get my old pre model 15 out to shoot more often. It's dated around 1957 and should also have the diamond grips, but the grips were swapped out at some point for later style wood grips. It was a service revolver with a rack # on it, but like you I have no clue where it served. .38 Special was one of the first cartridges I learned to reload... so easy to load them super soft! Interesting info on the forcing cone.... makes me wanna inspect mine a little better. I'd be willing to bet it's well used and might need some attention. Sorry just getting around to watching your video...was traveling when it came out. Hope you're having a great week brother!
My first gun was a smith model 65 3 inch which I bought new in the mid 80s. Those old guns had great triggers and really teach you to hold the gun steady while pressing the trigger through it's travel. I now own a model 15 which was made in the 70s and I use a Bianchi leather holster and Safariland speed loaders. 38 special is a joy to shoot. I really enjoy your content.
Another great video JC. You’ll have a great time with that model 10 at your class. Last week I found a top quality builder of sights in Georgia (your neck of the woods) that may only build 1911 sights but, thought I’d share that. I’ve tried many holster makers and there are some good ones and a ton of not so good ones. Wright Leather Works has not failed to disappoint and every time I try to save a few $$$ I regret it. Problem is the wait. Good luck with your upcoming class.
I carried double action revolvers early in my police career. I have two recommendations for.38 Special loads. 158 gr machine cast bullets over 3 gr Bullseye for a great target load. Same bullet over 5 gr of Unique is a good field load with quite a bit of power without beating up your gun.
I cut my teeth on a double action revolver. One of the first things that I do when get one is get a set of grips that fills my hand. I personally like Houge grips. Either the rubber or wood. They make a big difference in how will you handle/ shoot a revolver In double action.
Yep, a Tyler T will be a big help. I also prefer moon clips for the fastest reload. TK Custom can machine the cylinder to accept them. They also bevel the charge holes.
Hello JC! New sub. I watched a lot of the 45Colt videos and I'm looking forward to the 38 series. I have a similar Model 10 and it is a favorite! Did you ever get into casting like you mentioned in an older video?
I have cast some bullets, but I haven’t filmed yet. There has been some discussion about posting the process here, and it violating their guidelines and having my channel shut down. I’m still looking at what I can show and can’t to prevent that from happening! Thanks for the sub and comment!
@j_c_hunt Good to hear you got started. I would not post anything on RU-vid either. I know several people who lost channels. Some of us do post on Rumble, though.
