Got it backwards @ 2:10 "goes from zero to infinity, from right to left". Probably just misspoke, because the graphics show it correctly. Thank you for such an awesome resource!

Good video. I like the rules of thumb you present; it took me a bit of time to distill those on my own from other videos and material I read on Smith Charts. I should have found this video sooner. One slight misstatement at 12:13 in the video you say resistance goes from 0 to infinity from right to left. That should be from left to right. Also, transmission lines will follow circles of constant VSWR, right now they are following circles of constant conductance. (I posted that same comment on rfmentor).

The Smith chart program reminds me of the old EEZmatch program I got from Les at Besser Assoc a very long time ago. I loved that program, but it won't work anymore, of course. Eagleware also had that nifty WinSmith 2.0 but it will not work on Win7/10 either. Anyway, nice presentation!

@2:11 "just like a Cartesian plot, it goes from 0 to infinity from right to left" however you drew an arrow from left to right. A short being on the left, and an open being on the right, I believe the arrow you drew is correct and you simply misspoke.

wow when dealing with solar-cell power AC inverters it is a challenge to for a good Power Factor of 1. I wonder if the Smith chart could show power factor? 😎 Thanks.

Nice software ,.its nice.i just add or to suggest whether it could be used with vna connected.or are you plsnning to code anorher software for vna that it can shows these calculated parameter on the screen of vna rarher entering the value in this software.two alternate i suggest with request (if its not incioerated in this software,as i have not gone through deep coinecting the vna.

Why you left while frequency on 550 saying as it's difficult to find matching circuit.if this would be the real case ,we would have to find the matching Circuit

@8:45 Could you explain how this is? At very high frequencies lead inductance and skin effect become noticeable. There is still parasitic reactance associated with resistors.

You would use the transmission line elements instead. Maybe I'll have to make another video?

I would like to ask one question, if matching cannot exactly at 50 ohm -is it better to put in inductive region or capacitive region in terms of heat

Can I calculate physical length for transmission line or stub line in this software?

When you create a matching network with transmission lines, the line length is displayed in the table of components for the currently active frequency. Line length is for an air dielectric.

If you want to account for real component parasitics you will need to transfer your basic design into an RF simulator, add the parasitic information and then optimize the design from there.
