As I understand the modernization which began in June replacing the original 1914 gear-less traction machines with VFVV AC gear-less machines, new drives, controllers, replacing landing doors, making them fully automatic. Just retaining the one elevator still operated manually. Shame as elevator operators are an historic part of the building, going to automation. Those traction machines have held up well, wonder why they could not be retained, replace the MG sets with a DC rectifier power supply as a stand-alone with the new drive and controller.
