I really appreciated this video, it was well done and it was really helpful when I needed it. I also loved that Captain Julie Golob was the host. What a special treat to have someone of her calibre -- pun totally intended -- guiding us through this important procedure.
Thanks for a great demonstration on how to field strip it. It makes me more happy with my purchase of the SW22 Victory. I wanted a great gun that wasn't a pain to be able to clean. While I am careful with all my guns, I am the type of person where if Murphy's Law can come into play it will no matter how many precautions I take.
You don't need a punch Use the hex wrench to push the spring onto the little ledge. And Don't unscrew the Barrel to clean it. .... Only if you are going to replace it. Same goes with installation of the rail.... Only if you have a red dot in your hand 👌 Handle this gun with Care Look in your manual and make sure you understand where the two safety points are. The trigger is very smooth and light... So keep your finger away from the trigger until ready to aim and fire This is a competition gun and is built differently.. The young lady apparently is a competition shooter while the rest of us are accustomed to hard triggers and more safety features. Be safe and read your owners manual carefully.
They must have used a thread locker to try and fix the backing out issue. I'm not surprised they don't recommend a lock washer. I have a feeling they will reverse this decision once they do the testing and send everyone a new screw and lock washer. It's a safety issue.
I don't recommend a lock washer, because the tabs can damage the frame. I went to the plumbing section at Lowe's and got a pack of rubber #36 o-rings. (5/16 OD x 3/16 ID x 1/16). I put one on, hand tightened the screw, and everything has been fine. Easy to remove the screw, but it holds perfectly.
I was having a trigger problem so I sent it to S&W, they put a new trigger in but now it is not loading the ammo correctly, I may need to send it back as I didn't have this issue before the trigger problem. it keeps getting jammed and I've had to field strip it a few times in order to remove the ammo it was jammed so tight. I've been using Aguila but will try CSI to see if it is a type of ammo issue. Other than that I love the gun.
I bought this gun a few months ago. The slide was extremely hard to pull back and when I fired, it would not chamber the next round. Instead the gun had to manually be cocked each time. I sent it into Smith and Wesson, they returned it and it still has the same issue. Whatever the quality Smith and Wesson put into their Victory 22 is not there anymore and I am very displeased.
I would like to have seen her tighten the take down screw. Mine continues to come loose when I'm at the range. I have to constantly check and tighten the screws while shooting, which is extremely annoying. I'm even starting wondering if the screw is too long for the depth of the hole. That would explain why it is not getting tight enough.
If I have to use any locktite then that defeats the purpose of it being an easy take down. I'll have to clean and reapply every time. It happens after only 50-75 rounds. The first time it happened, I was very lucky it didn't come all the way out. Just very annoying, especially since the new Ruger Mk IV take down is way better.
droserjr I got a new one for Christmas I could not get the bolt out they fixed it lock tite just take it to a gunsmith to clean the gun when you need to
I went to the plumbing section at Lowe's and got a pack of rubber #36 o-rings. (5/16 OD x 3/16 ID x 1/16). I put one on, hand tightened the screw, and everything has been fine. Did the same for my wife. Two years and no issues.
I sent my S&W 36 to S&W for repair in early July, I got it back in February. First off, they got my contact information wrong so I never got the estimate so I could approve the work. Then they had my gun down for the wrong work and not what I asked for. Then my gun got misplaced! Then in late January when I called to ask about the progress of the work, I got a very combative customer service representative. I AM NEVER BUYING ANOTHER S&W AGAIN!!!
Man its been up and down with their customer service for mine I had to send back twice first time because its wouldn't eject spent casings at all took 3 months finally got it I was happy I got home opened the box saw they put a very used regular non threaded barrel on it mine had one from the factory I called complained they understood i asked for it in the mail they said I have to send the whole pistol back so I reluctantly did but after 4 months of anxiously waiting I got it home runs smooth with correct barrel this time wonderful gun shit customer service most likely the last of their products I will buy and its unfortunate for them because I loved them until I bought this pistol and dealt with customer service honestly I would have rather gotten a check for the amount I paid for it and buy something else oh well but I've put countless rounds through it and it runs awesome now but still....
