Till you have had a gun in your face non of the folks promoting their method how to respond to an armed attack DO NOT know what the hell they are talking about because most of the so called instructors have never had a gun in their face. I'm not an instructor just someone who can speak from real life experience. When I was attacked at two different times in my life, it happened FAST. All this, " You have to be aware of your surroundings" is crap. We all have our routines and we all get distracted. If you went around all wide eyed worrying about every little movement and or person you would not be able to live your life. Take life as it comes, use your brain and live life.

Recently noticed a bunch of small compact autos in 9mm/380 being traded in on revolvers. Seems a lot of folks can't make the compact autos run reliably, so they go with something that works all the time when they pull the trigger. S&W 642 is very popular, as is the Taurus 856 in both steel frame and ultra lite aluminum frame. The Taurus 856 is just a tiny bit larger than a S&W J-frame, but has 6 shots and is starting to rival the S&W's in popularity. Don't forget that autos can fail catastrophically too! I've seen the aftermath of two Glock .40 S&W "Kaboom's". Both guns were totalled.

Good video but pls don’t flip the cylinder shut, it can damage the gun. I’ve carried/shot J Frames since my ‘68 rookie year & carry a no-lock 340PD in retirement. My department required us to qualify w/our off duty gun so I learned to shoot these little thirty-eights a long time ago. I consider them an experts gun and I still shoot my 340PD & Model 60 pretty often.

Snubs are a bad breath distance weapon. A 1911 is an experts gun.
@oldcop18
@oldcop18 10 месяцев назад
@@rtaggs8178Agree that’s the distance where snubs are at their best. That said I successfully defended my life w/a Colt Detective Special snub in a 1974 gunfight w/armed robbery suspects, to include a reload under fire. The distance was across the hoods of our cars and it was very dark. Looking back I was VERY lucky that night.

I've carried a jframe 442 or 642 for years currently 442 and with the practice can consistently shoot a 8" Plate at 30 yards so 30 yards in is easy for me whenni first got one I couldn't hit anything with it definitely not a beginner gun but with practice it can be all you really need

I want one of these just cause it seems awesome (and nostalgia - old school detective gun) but I shoot once a week or more and I know it'll be snappy. My Taurus 856 is all stainless steel and it has a bit of a snap with its two inch barrel tho it is perfectly usable one handed. I wonder how the airweight frame holds up to constant use tho? Any ideas on longevity? (normal rounds not plus p).
@GSquaredTactical
@GSquaredTactical 2 года назад
I personally haven’t had mine long enough to speak to longevity, but I know someone who’s carried one for 12 years and shoots it a couple times a month and has never reported to me any issues. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already. Thanks again

I need some advice. I've owned all the popular Glocks, sigs, Springfield pistols all in 9mm. And I used to own the 642 revolver. Because of financial reason over the years I don't own a pistol. I'm going to grab one next week. I need to know, should I go with the reliable 642? Or appendix carry a semi? I would personally pocket carry the 642. The detractor from carrying a pistol iwb, is that if you get into a fight, just a fist fight, my shirt will come up and everyone's going to know that I have a pistol. It's just plain easier to fight/wrestle pocket carrying a revolver. And it's reliable. How's pocket carrying this? Is it comfortable? Light weight?
@GSquaredTactical
@GSquaredTactical 2 года назад
With the right holster it is literally the perfect pocket piece. Blackhawk makes great ones.

Hornady Lite 90 grain has a lot less recoil and is adequate. 380acp ish is power they say but I would not want one in me so.. Tell your boy not to Hollywood close the cylinder. It can damage the revolver.
@GSquaredTactical

Heck no me either. People always talking about .380 or .22 being inadequate and I just simply say…”we’ll get down range and stand in front of one.” They never take me up on the offer lol. Thanks for watching and commenting and be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already. Thanks again

Most of your points would apply to semiauto’s as well. Also, revolvers don’t require you to have a firm grip and limp wristing is a common problem with inexperienced shooters and small semi’s often don’t have good sights either. I just didn’t understand the point of this video.
