The problem with jamming isn’t a need to break it in, it’s the weak extractor that comes from Smith & Wesson. Changed mine out for a Volquartsen extractor and it’s been perfect for the last 500 rounds.

@@davidb.4342 you can do it yourself. Just put a white towel down incase the spring goes flying. I put my own in, just a little hard to get the spring to go in the first time. You can find videos how to install it.

It's not the extractor that's causing a problem is some examples (never had an issue with my MP22 pistol). It's the ejector, especially on older models. I'm sure putting a stiffer extractor spring in the BCG will also do the trick

@@NoNo_IStay I have the rifle version and it eats nearly everything I've tried in it. Aguila Super Extra high velocity, CCI Mini Mags, CCI Stingers, CCI Velociters, and Winchester SuperX, all run great. The only thing it's ever had trouble with is cheap Federal hollow points. I bought it a few years ago for $299 and I feel like it was a great deal. They're selling for $499 now, at that price I'd probably recommend the Tippman Arms M4-22.

I bought my wife and myself each one of these pistols. Put a mild lubrication on them before their first range trip.. We sighted in identical Veridian Eon red dots with CCI 40 grain, round nose, copper plated ammo and they both functioned 100% and sighted in nicely at 25 yards. With any 22LR, ammo is everything, surpress it and you've created a totally different beast. Super fun vid, thanks for sharing.

I got mine around 3 weeks ago. Got it to teach my daughter to shoot with. With the optic which is a sight mark mini M-spec with the riser it weights in with mag no ammo at under 4 pounds!!! So much fun!!!

On these, the ejector is kind of a long rod that comes back from the barrel face. It needs to ride snugly on the underside of the bolt. You can easily bend it upwards to take care of the FTE.

Love these in the pistol and rifle variety mostly like 40 grain and above cci is the best in my opinion also volquartson makes a firing pin and extractor that makes them run better also it's a easy upgrade.

I bought two M&P 15-22 from two different stores. Both 15-22s were experiencing the same failures and problems that you were experiencing but at a higher rate. I had to send them back to Smith & Wesson. Both came back better, but once in a while I still experience stove pipes, double feed, failure to extract, etc. I do love this form factor and enjoy shooting them, especially with a 22 can.

Check out the Tippmann M4-22 Micro Elite Pistol first. He has a video of that one. I own one I think it runs better with a wider variety of ammo. Unless you just want the convenience of magazine compatibility, I personally think it's a no-brainer.

I put a Timney trigger in mine and it took it to a whole new level of fun. Also, for what its worth, Ive put about 500 rounds of a mix of Federal and Aguila and have had one stove pipe and 1 failure to feed. Oiled it out of the box and worked just fine for me. Maybe running the silencer has some negative effect on the gun? All in all though its a great gun, especially in these weird times we're currently in

Great video! With my CMMG Bravo kit I am getting no issues at all like the jams on this gun. Silence is very similar with only muzzle brake, and feeling like a teen with the best pellet gun of the neighbourhood!

How does it work when you just drop in a .22 bolt carrier. But the barrel is still 556. How does that work..the barrel has rifling/lands for the specific bullet IE 556?

@@keanur6541 works great. The caliber is compatible. Only issue I have had is with some cartidges putting them into the magazine is harder than others.

@@keanur6541works fine. I found that accuracy was improved with the slightly heavier and slower AE Suppressor ammo, probably due to the faster twist rate of the 5.56 barrel.

Had the same issue with stove pipes. I even polished the feed ramp. Should not have this problem in multiple guns with multiple ammo. Glad to know it's not just me. I purchased the Volquartsen - Smith & Wesson M&P 1522 .22 LR SureStrike Firing Pin and extractor and I have had no issues since.

I have this, and we also have the rifle version. Love it. I’ll be doing the Volquartsen extractor and may do their barrel as well. I do have failure to eject some but overall it’s solid. It gets used more than my 5.56 Smith rifle and pistol when we go out. The kids love it as well. I’m going to buy another rifle to mod out and maybe another pistol. Just because.

22's can be very quirky. I will say that my M&P 22 compact has been 100% with zero issues shooting suppressed. It chews through any ammo i've put in it. Heck i'm a glock guy and I wouldnt trade it for a 44 for anything. It also came suppressor ready, unlike the 44 that requires a barrel upgrade.

Just got one myself and the documentation says S&W does NOT recommend any sub sonic ammo be fired due to issues in this gun. They recommend CCI Stinger or mini mag as well as Aguila super extra high or standard velocity plus Federal gameshock or american eagle and Winchester super x high velocity. Hope this helps out

Yeah, that was my thinking. He was having all kinds of issues running all that non-standard 22 ammo through that gun. Put CCI Mmags through it and I would bet all his problems would disappear.

I bought it a few days ago. Replace the extractor and bent the ejector as per expert's opinion on RU-vid. Went to range yesterday and shot 500 rds. Only two light primers and the rest is flawless. I may consider changing the firing pin in near future. I love this rifle.

I haven't had any failures (feed or eject) with mine but I've never fired subsonic through it. But it is a lot of fun and allows practice at times like these where prices of ammo are high

The only issue I’ve had has been with Aguila sub sonic. It seems like the soft lead bullet is a little “sticky” and doesn’t feed well. CCI and Federal Punch is all I typically use and no issues at all. I also clean after every other trip to the range.

I own the 16" barrel version, and have shot a wide variety of ammo through mine - I've never had even one issue out of it. I don't know if somehow the shorter barrel on this model makes a difference (I doubt it) or if they're doing something else like building them slightly more cheaply now somehow, or what. But I love mine

@@TheGeneral75746 I think it’s the suppressor. I have the full size one as well, and it runs like a champ. It’s NEVER acted up like this video shows. I replaced the extractor and a couple other parts with Volquartsen and Tandemkross parts.

Looks like the buffer spring or whatever spring that's resetting the bolt is slightly underpowered. You can see the bolt bouncing at 8:51, and I'm sure when you're really running it, that's causing some failures and hiccups because it's not resetting as quickly as you're pulling the trigger.

I use that Aguila sniper ammo in my Ruger American with a silencerco sparrow and the first time I fired it I thought there was a malfunction until I heard the target ring!

Brownells sells a very cheap upgraded extractor for the 15-22 bolt carrier group. My rifle length version ran a lot better after upgrading.

My extractor was causing jams but I was able to fix it by slightly bending it up towards the bolt till it almost touches completely fixed all the issues

Santa Claus brought one with 3 extra mags, a 50 round drum and 1000 rounds of Stingers for my granddaughter this year! She was such a good girl and Santa is just such an awesome dude! He also put a Vortex Sparc II red dot in her stocking! LOL We have a 300 yard range on my property with a shoot house. So after all presents were unwrapped we spent the rest of the day shooting! Using a rest while sitting, she was ringing steel at 200 yards within 150 rounds! Her last 25 round mag of the day, she hit the 18" plat 23 TIMES!! I tell you, Papa has never been more proud!! She has always liked to shoot but was just lukewarm to it. Since getting her this M&P 15/22P, she LOVES it! She even started asking if she can use it on our Spring squirrel hunts! It was SUCH a great Christmas for PAPA! LOL BTW, it ships with an A1 flash hider, not a 2. At least MINE did.

I shoot both rifle and pistol versions a lot. The main issues come from the way the ammo is installed into the magazine because of the rim. They like faster trigger pull and release. A medium pace works best. Faster rates you get failure to eject. Slower trigger rest issues and feed issues. Also, just let the charger slap in. Don't be gentle. Those are the techniques my kid and I use for both guns, for the most consistent results, with Browning and CCI. Stay away from the cheap stuff.

Change out your extractor, plunger, and plunger spring with tacticool 22 parts. Bend in internal extractor 1/16"

I get a FTF or dead trigger like in the video here and there but they are rare since getting rid of the mag that came in the box. For some reason I had 3-4 stovepipes with the mag shipped with it but near 0 failures with purchased mags. Mine will eat almost everything, it even cycles 22 quiets but will not cock the hammer on the next shot.

Agreed. The S&W isn't bad at all if you can't find the Tippmann M4-22, but I feel like the Tippmann just seems to be made better and has a batter design. Only had 4 malfunctions out of about 600 rounds of CCI bulk Lead round nose and they were all failures to fire, which I'm sure were all ammo related. No feeding, extracting or ejection issues with any ammo I've used but I haven't tried subs yet.

Yes definitely a crappy extractor from Smith an Wesson. I changed mine out for volquartsen also now it runs like a champ. Volquartsen makes a great firing pin also so might as well upgrade it too. Its definitely worth doing so you know it will function no matter what ammo you use. Very fun gun to shoot

Stovepipes and ftf is common with the SW. Thr older one had the same issues. Apparently the first 15-22 was the best one,then the second itteration started having issues. And now this one also have issues. I must say only use the best .22 ammo because .22 is notorious for being finicky in certain weapons

Its a mag issue with FTF. I have some mags that cause it and others that don't. When I dont use the mags I marked that cause it, it works as it should. Mine was bought Aprilish 2019. I have over 12k rounds through mine. My tippman sees much less use because I've yet to find a speed loader. It has roughly 3k through it.
