Beretta as of November 2019 just dropped the price on the APX to $329...!! This might make the decision easier for some - that is a lot of gun for the money!!
@eric692003 Because they didn't sell any! The only sold The tactical model with the red dot, I know I definitely wouldn't buy one that has a safety plunger popping out of the top of the slide
This Beretta APX line is fabulous... Good sites, full steel rails, good trigger, great ergonomics, good texture, sits low in the hand, accurate, handles recoil well, good ft and finish, reliable, fun too shot, and 350.00 to 400.00 what's not to like. Take down is not that hard people, serrations are good.... It's a very good polymer wonder. Especially the APX centurion. Great size for everything.. you can buy the compact and have two pistols for 40.00 too 50.00 $$$$.
I love my M&Ps but I'll tell you, I think the Beretta is another great option. Like you, the look of the Beretta is starting to grow in me. I have always liked the look of the M&P series. I have noticed too that currently, the price of the Beretta pistols are very competitive. It's a difficult decision but IMHO you can't go wrong with either gun. Great video BTW.
I got JAXF421 absolutely love it... Got the 18+1 Mags and Ordered Green Frame... Feels great in the hands and taking it apart is much easier then some of these videos I have seen online... Also wish APX had a stronger community for accessories cause alot of them are ??? and i'm finding stuff for other guns works well with APX...
Glad I got my apx centurion when I did , they are tough to find here in AZ . I have owned the sig p320 , the m&p 2.0 and now the apx , the apx and Glock 45 along with sig p365 are my go to guns .
I have many rounds through my m&p 2.0 compact. I love it. This is the best feeling--in--hand semi auto I've ever owned. Such a good shooter from day one with no complaints on the trigger.
In a world of generic everything, having a visual stand out feature is not a bad thing. It's what drew me to the APX in the first place, and I'm glad it did. I have the APX Compact (13+1) and it's an extremely good firearm. Runs smoother than a sewing machine, and it's a very flat shooting gun, even with the 3.7" barrel it falls back into position naturally and with no effort. The recoil mitigation is just awesome for a smaller weapon and I've heard it described as a 'soft shooter', well so it is. I'm very pleased with it, and props to Beretta for another win, IMO.
What a fantastic review! Very well spoken, great camera angles, no machismo!!! I own an M&P 2.0 and love it. Saving money for the APX. I also come from Italy so I'm biased.
Love both of these guns! I myself have s Smith & wesson m&p shield 9mm 2.0 compact pistol. Waiting for my Apx to arrive at the dealer for pick up. Couldn't choose between the 2 so I got both! And Beretta is having a nice promotional sale. The Beretta apx came with 3 mags all 17 in the mag. For the promotional sale u sign a rebate form on Beretta site and you'll get an additional 3 magazines with a holster all for free when you purchase the Beretta apx
Am I crazy? I keep hearing people talk about the firing pin block like they've never seen it before. I don't think I've ever heard of anybody having a problem with any of the 92 or Px4 series, I don't know why it would be different with the APX.
Well to be fair both the 92 and Px4 are completely different firing mechanisms then the APX so you really are just counting on the brand to do it right. That being said I think beretta is a pretty huge step up above most manufacturers if not just for the barrel alone 😂. Fun fact when the pilgrims came to America they carried beretta made barrels.
Before watching the complete video I'm going to guess that the apx wins. I know I have kept my apx about a lot of other fine firearms. To me the apx is top of the line. Thanks for the video
Man, what a great time for us gun enthusiast. The conceal carry handgun market has so many offerings. M&P, Glock, APX, P10c, P320, VP, PPQ hell even the Ruger SR series are super nice and reliable guns. I watch these VS videos fore entertainment but I love it when I see people choosing something like the APX or P10c over my beloved M&P or Glock!
I completely agree A! We certainly do live in good gun choice days. Thank you for enjoying the vids! I love doing them. As for the APX, it really is a fun shooter and unique to boot! Thank you and cheers
@Seth Rising yeah the gauntlet is very extreme, my next gun may be an APX compact after I get glock 41 ....but apx compact can jump the line it's a close decision for me.
Do you like the combat size? I currently love my big 92FS, but am thinking of getting a striker fired. I’m a small woman, and although I shoot the 92 really well, it’s really kinda big for me, hand-wise.
That tab is also part of the trigger safety mechanism in the Beretta 92 but instead of a cylinder looking retractable protrusion it is rectangular. It is nothing more than a firing pin safety blocker released by the trigger.
Just bought my APC a couple of days ago and we're taking it out to the range for the first time today. This is the first firearm I've ever owned so I'm definitely excited!
The apx looks like a solid handgun, i do like the fact that you can exchange the frames to different colors maybe it will end up being like the p320 where you go from full size to compact or carry . Either way the m&p and beretta and both really good picks .thanks for a fine review brother i look forward to the next.
Thank you very much Sergio! Agreed, the APX really is a good gun. Solid and fun to shoot. As for the M&P, I prefer the compact but I know many who love the full size. Cheers brother!
KSGunGuy.... Thanks for a cool comparison video. To me it looks like both shot groups were equal in pattern. After looking at Justin Opinions and Sootch00's reviews, I decided to order the Beretta APX Centurion in 40 S&W. Your video clinched my decision process and validated that decision. One of the biggest decision points is the modularity of the Beretta. Some other decision points is the price tag as well as overall features. My other choices were the M&P Shield 40 and the Springfield Armory XD 40. Of those 2 my likely choice would have been the Springfield, even though from the price point was higher. Based on price point and features between the M&O Shield and Beretta, the Beretta in my opinion was the BEST choice. Lastly, in case I have not commented you before, I really appreciate your reviews. There are many videos out there , however yours are at the very top of my list to watch. Thanks for all your time in creating very informative fact based energy packed videos.
Regarding the magazines, Beretta offers a factory APX 21 round capacity while M&P has a nice aftermarket Taran Tactical extension that gives you 25 round capacity. The grit has lessened in my M&P trigger take up over time. I chose the M&P over the APX simply due to side by side ergos at the counter and a few of the quirks the APX had such as the take down lever and back strap and chassis removal. Also, nearly a $100 price difference sure helped my decision. I might end up with an APX one day anyway. ha ha...Nice video, very fair comparison.
Thank you very much Tom! I agree, they are both great guns but the APX has some quirks. It's taken a while to be on board with both, but they definitely do their job. Great to know about the 21 round mag for the APX! Thank you again and cheers
I have had the M&P 2.0 in 9mm and 40 S&W . Their accuracy is fine. I just do not like the aggressive grip texture. I put a bicycle inner tube on both of mine. I have just recently picked up a Berretta APX 9mm and I like ergonomics and the grip texture is where I want it on the front and back. I like that you can change out the frame for 50.00 and get a gray, green, or Flat Dark earth color. Magazine availability looks ok right now. The slide grooves are well thought out as well on the Beretta.
Talon makes a rubberized grip tape so you don’t have to use bicycle inner tube. I have one on a Springfield XD and it’s a nice grip doesn’t make it too much bigger goes on tight using a blow dryer.
It's the APX for me as well; the aggressive slide takes a bit of time to appreciate. I would say the APX has been more accurate for me since you get more surface due to the extended beaver tail in the back meaning you will shoot flatter.
I like the M&P 2.0 so much that I got the 3.6" Compact, the 4.25" and the 5.0". All three have TruGlo night sights installed and the 4.25" and 5.0" have the APEX flat trigger. Any of the three will cut that inch hole through the target at 7 yards with one magazine of ammo. The APEX trigger takes these guns to a new level.
You didn't really take your time with first 100 shots either for either gun. But you did awesome on those targets. I have both and I chose both of them. If I could have one the Beretta takes the cake. Awesome video man and sorry for sounding like a troll. For be Beretta is the better option. Have a blessed one
I had both. But beretta took care of my weak mag spring by shipped me a brand new mag. Awesome. M&p sent my gun back to see the coating. Ended up inspect and checking everything on the gun. Shipped me extra mag for m&p 2.0, mag for shield, accessories for my Thompson riffles, etc. both company are amazing. But apx is on sale now. Ez pick apx. Can’t go wrong with it.
I'm probably a bit biased as I own one, but as you've shown, the APX has better slide serrations for racking, a better out-of-the box trigger AND it feeds consistently! I was kinda surprised you didn't mention that issue with the S&W in your final comments. Overall, good review and commentary.
Great review. I have a Brazilian LE surplus (NIB) with all the doodads on order from AIM surplus for $299 plus plus. I am looking forward to getting it. I didn't need another service 9mm but well... you know I have the sickness and this just was too good of a deal to pass up. Thanks!
Funny that the APX won on looks but the trigger and the fail to feed on the S&W was not a factor in his deceison. I will take the Beretta, $380 at Bass Pro Shop
I shot 4 different guns. 100 rounds a piece. I was more comfortable with the apx as well as accurate. It was also my deciding point on what brand to buy. It is a high quality gun.
Awesome review as usual KS, your videos are a HUGE help in deciding what my $$$ will be put towards next 😉 Thank you for all the time & effort you put into your videos!!
Thank you for checking in Luke! Both are great but for whatever reason... the Beretta has just grown on me. That said, the M&P has come a long way and the compact has become a favorite of mine. Thank you and cheers brother!
I enjoyed the review, great job. I bought both but ended up keeping the S&W. The takedown lever on the APX would send an impulse into my thumb eveny time the round would fire. While I like being able to switch out lowers on the APX, loved its ergos, the shock to my thumb was distracting. The S&W on the other hand also has greats ergos and looks better, fits holsters I already had and shoots great so it was a keeper. I also picked the S&W over the gen 4 G19, the XD mod 2, and the Canik TP9SF. All great pistols, but if I could only have one it would be the S&W.
This was a great review. While I am the biggest fan of my 92FS I will probably go with S&W on this one and that is what makes this review so fantastic...no bias at all including strengths and weaknesses of both. Well done. I would have liked to have more info on recoil. Any feedback from others on the difference? Thanks!
I have a sccy 9mm for my CCW its small easy to hide and not an issue to drive with. My APX 9mm is harder to hide and a pain in the azz to drive with an in-waist holster. I will go back and forth between either gun but I think the APX has it beat but you buy what you can afford to use at the time. Don't get me wrong the sccy has been a great gun for me for over 7 years and I will still use it for CCW
couldn't miss w apx 9mm, so balanced; struggled w Glock 48, violent action on smaller frame...proud to add S&W 2.0 45, noticed it punched his hands back much more than Beretta; Glock 48 does that too🎸 love Beretta best, grateful for the rest✌
I will agree i love my apx as well. I have the full fde combo. I have had glocks and m&p and as well as beretta. And the beretta apx won me over. Thank-you for the video great job KSGunGuy
Could that firing pin block be carefully cut off and the hole plugged ? Would it still function properly? APX wins in my book, it is hands down the best looking striker fired handgun ever made. Have to have one in FDE.
Never shot Beretta but I do own the M&P 2. I love the gun and I new I'd change the trigger paddle when I bought the gun. Availability of after market parts and accessories is why I went with the Smith.
Well I don't own an APX yet, and I just picked up my 2.0 compact yesterday. I love the feel of the new M&P grip, I do prefer the sandpaper feel for sure. I think both of these are good pistols and I look forward to getting an APX some day. I think this is another one of those can't lose scenario's. Good video as always!
Thank you Fu! The Smith compact has really impressed me. If I can get an Apex, I think it will be among the top 4 in the collection. Not bad for a gun I thought I wouldn’t like! Cheers brother
Apx all the way. Bought the gray frame and changed out the striker spring and guide rod and spring to 20lb. Shoots fantastic. Trigger is even better and with the guide rod with spring even tighter groups.
So funny when I bought my first gun both of these were on sale and I had to choose between them. I went S&W. Even the guy at the gun store said "good choice". Lol
One thing to note on the grip texture of the m2.0...U cannot add texture without adding cash but u can take the texture down for free. Grip texture is a very popular mod with handguns, whether it be grip tape or a custom stipple job. All u need to do is get some fine sandpaper and sand the texture down to your liking. This is what I did with my. 45 shield and m2.0c to make them carry friendly. I couldn't be happier with the texture.
I got the 40cal apx love it i got mine at a gander mountain that was going out of business they had some serious sales going on i got mine only paid $198 for it even got a $950 ar15 for under $500. I seen peaple buying like 5 at a time I feel lucky to have even gotten one definitely couldn't pass it up for that price
If Beretta does a Gen II, they need to make functional serrations. I am a Metal and Hammer guy, but if I were to buy one of these it probably would be the Beretta... since the closest company I am a fanboy of is Beretta.
You’d think these would be functional but I agree. I’ve heard many people say the slide get very slick when wet. Didn’t see that coming! Thank you for watching Mike and cheers brother!
That’s a great way to put it! I’ll say that the compact 2.0 is tough to beat and would opt for it over the APX. But... there is something odd and enjoyable about the Beretta. Thank you and cheers!
The Beretta 92 and PX4 have the same firing pin block that pops up. I’m guessing it won’t be an issue on the APX because it hasn’t been an issue on either of those guns.
Great Video!!! However, I don't even think it's close. The APX is a much better gun in my opinion. Softer shooting, better combat pistol, better accuracy, better craftsmanship. I think the trigger is light years ahead of the Smith. But I am not a fan of the hinge trigger with the exception of the FNS or the 509. The APX is vastly underrated and I can't wait for the Compact and the sub-compact models to come out, along with the 45.
I agree Rota. The APX has really impressed me and you’re right, the trigger is very good. Much better than the M&P. If they come out with a compact, I think it would be a real contender! Thank you and cheers as always brother
Thoughts on the beretta PX4 storm vs the M&P 2.0? I am trying to decide on my first handgun. I am leaning towards the PX4 as it shares mags with my CX4 storm carbine.
Personally, I prefer the M&P. It’s a tack driver. The mag compatibility is pretty nice however and the PX4 definitely impressed me. Thank you and cheers!
It's all about the ergonomics and personal preference the Smith & Wesson is proven accurate and reliable however with Berettas new price point it's about $150 cheaper than the Smith ,I prefer the Smith but at $339 I would probably take the Beretta if I could only afford one they're both excellent guns
I have both, but the M&P in 5" FDE. I was drawn to the M&P for it's looks, especially in the all FDE color. I immediately installed the TFX Pro sights (which are awesome, but front orange dot needs to be bigger like Trijicon HD). I love the grip texture, bit for some reason, I just like to grab the APX. The grip shape and texture feels very natural to me. It feels very similar to my PPQ. Can't really explain it, but it feels more balanced to me. Neither trigger feels quality like the PPQ, but I can live with both. Now if Beretta would come out with a compact chassis in FDE, now you're talking. I'm also drawn to out of the ordinary. APX - Ribbed for pleasure.
Excellent thoughts John! The FDE M&P looks awesome but I agree, the APX definitely draws you in. I agree, a more compact version would be awesome. Perhaps next year? Thank you and cheers brother!
