Whoever guided her should be praised. You have a woman who rode the highway of stardom but got off at the right exit. You can see in her attitude that she enjoyed her acting career but successfully closed one chapter and opened another. This is how to dot it! Forever a fan. Buy the DVD set of the series, it is well worth it.
Someone has recently uploaded all 3 original seasons to RU-vid recently and I've been binging I have to admit. The unsung about what's happening is great too.
Mable, like Ester Rolle, had a certain warmth and charm that I sadly miss in many of today’s actresses and their characters. We’ll never see TV writing again like we had in the 1970s.

Nothing but love for the amazing Danielle Spencer ! ... I used to watch what's happening right after school when I got home and must have seen every episode. It was back in the day when shows had meaning and always provided a lesson to learn from. I have a special place in my heart for every cast member. It is wonderful that she became a veterinarian!! I do animal rescue and have the same passion for animals as she does, I love them all .... It's wonderful to see her doing well !!!

Several of the stars from What's Happening literally went through hell and passed away at a young age. Dee's a real fighter!!! I would love to meet her someday. Mabel lost both of her legs and an arm because of diabetes and died young. Shirley died at 52 at home from kidney failure and Freddy died at 52, as well. He was home recovering from a stroke but his death was listed as natural causes. They were a huge part of my childhood and it's a damn shame their lives ended so young!
She seems like a really nice person in real life. I’m sorry that she is having issues with walking. She represents well for Black women though.....BLACK FEMALE DOCTOR!!!! 🤪
@@brianpearis1478 As an adult she had a calcium growth on her spine and surgery to remove it. As a result, the surgery left her paralyzed. She ev eventually started walking again. Also, she's been through breast cancer and a brain hematoma. Any of these issues and their treatments likely has caused her voice to not be as heavy as it once was. Too, just aging may be the case. But glad she's recovered.
I just love her. I hate she has been going through for so so many years. She has an awesome attitude.I have MS and alot of other issues. So I understand . But I love her heart and you can just c how kind she is. I pray for her. People like this , that have the most sincere heart should b healed.
She does, she just needs better makeup for some of her visible scars. I'm so very proud of her, she's been through so much. She is such a huge inspiration. 🙏💪❤
It's crazy to think she was in a car accident during the time she was on what's happening and the car accident killed her stepfather and she was severely injured still made it out congratulations
Why couldn't you simply say that she looks nice, instead of looking for a strange way to call her old? It is okay to give a black woman a real compliment.
She needed surgery on a disk in her back which her surgeons believe was damaged from a car accident she had when she was young. When she had surgery on her back years later after experiencing having difficulty walking, she was paralized from her breast down after the surgery. So, she uses the walking sticks, but she is still quite active and is an amazing person.
